Judging by the chrome handle bar and the round headlight, this appears to be a 73. Deere came out with an insulated aluminum firewall in 74 that helps with the vapor lock issue. I run premium gas 50:1 with no ethanol in these old sleds as they are relatively high compression. I have electric start on my mid-mounts, and often on restart after a long run, it will crank for a few seconds before starting. Compared to a restart after a short run will be an instant start.
Hey Brian, it is a 73, but my sled came with an aluminum wall in it. No insulation, but it seems like the remnants of old glue for it are all over one side. This one has electric start too and I know I’d still be pulling on this sled to get it started if it didn’t. Pretty sure it loses prime after sitting for more than a few hours
I mix for this sled at 50:1 as recommended by Deere. I figure with our more advanced modern oils, if that ratio was fine back in the day it should certainly be good enough now

She's in Good shape!
I like the camera facing the driver at 3:40. Looks like a fun sled! Nothing wrong with only hitting 25mph, faster than walking
They were good little sled got , ccw engine
Nice sled.
I have the same sled restored 73 mod 500 w CCW 440
What are you mixing your gas oil at 32:1 I got the same sled but a 500 with the 440 totally restored!😁👍
