I'm a Mizzou fan and believe BC can absolutely win! Your QB can make great things happen. That's why the game has to be played. I hope everyone comes out healthy. BC is the first real competition Mizzou has this season, and this will be an important indicator of how good we really. Play your best. We'll do the same. All respect.
I don't think we've seen even 50% of Missouri's offense yet. They've been so vanilla that it's been almost boring watching their games so far. They haven't really even used Luther Burden III yet, who is easily the best player on their offense. The Mizzou offense is more talented than the BC defense, but no one actually knows how talented. The biggest question in this game is how legit is Mizzou's defense? If they are a legit top 10 NCAA defense, I don't think the game is close.

I'm not a fan of Mizzou's philosophy of not playing top level opponents outside of the SEC, and it's good to see real talent in a nonconference game. Nothing but respect for what BC has done so far this year. Mizzou has hit on all 8 cylinders so far this year, but against a low level of competition. BC's coming in hot, Mizzou better be ready.
I'm a big believer in the law of averages. Thus far, Mizzou has only scored one passing touchdown. So I think that they are due for multiple passing touchdowns in this next game. 31-20 mizzou.

Missouri has so much depth on defense that they had nothing but freshman on the field at times still shutting down offenses. Even if you have it close, the defense is going to be fresh and no offense to Boston College, but your offense and your offensive line are not going to be able to maintain the same energy and drive in the fourth-quarter. Also, Missouri has arguably the best receiving core in college ball and Brady Cook has still not gotten his timing down. As they work together and as that happens, you’re going to see six and seven touchdown passes in a single game.

Biggest question mark for Mizzou is penalties. Defense will be motivated for another shut out, but I don't see that happening this time. From our perspective, we're not really sure how good either team is or isn't at this point. I think most SEC folks feel Florida State would be at or near the bottom of the SEC this year, and Mizzou hasn't played anyone either. I'm not sure how much either team opens their playbook this game, but I do think this is where we get a much better read on how each team's season is really going so far.
A few things. Burden is a 4.4 guy & the best YAC guy in the country. He plays out of the slot, he's not an OWR. He was sick, not injured. He'll be fine. If he doesn't play, there's little drop off. MIZ is not a running team. Its a balanced team. They take what the def gives them. Load the box our WRs ball out. Play the pass, we hand off. The Oline is top 10 in the country. We have to have fumbles, ints, dropped passes, or something like that to slow us down. We had our 2nd string in the 3rd qtr of both games, & 4th string in the 4th. We could have put up 70 on both teams if we wanted to. So how are you going to cover all of those guys, get pressure, & stop the run? The def is called death row for a reason. I can't think of any weakenesses. Maybe the CBs, but not really. Nobody as good as Abrams-Draine, but still really good. What's the offense's gameplan? Do you have stud WRs that can win 50/50 balls? Any WRs that are sub 4.5 guys?
Your defense got gashed in the run by Murray St and Buffalo and we are one of the best run teams in the nation. Reed Harris (6’4”) and Jerand Bradley (6’5”, I believe) are jump ball guys. Jayden McGowan is one of the speedier wide receivers in college football and Lewis Bond is no slouch either.

These are the games where impact players make their mark. If TC is a game changer this is the game he gets to prove it. If Donovan E and Cam H are elite pass rushers, this is where they get a chance to prove it. Food for though 2021 Mizzou had around like a 120 ranked defense that year under Wilks Drink still had a majority of players recruited under Odom (who was not a good recruiter by any means) Connar Bazelak was the starter who is now playing at Bowling Green b/c he wasnt good enough at the (then) P5 level. Now in terms of this matchup -As a Mizzou fan I like Castellanos as a "magic man" type of QB, very Doug Floutie esk -I will give the coaching advantage to O'Brian who was an NFL coach -Mizzou hasnt played top notch competition yes, could the defense be that good, sure but could they be a little inflated from the level of competition, thats also possible. -However, one thing I can say is that this roster is more talented (definitely more talented than FSU, never got the FSU preseason hype to begin with) With all that said, I look forward to a great game come saturday.
Odom brought in 4 4-star QBs in one year under Odom. Cook, Badie, Roundtree, KAD, & all the guys who got drafted were Odoms guys. Great talent evaluator. A lot of drinks 4 star guys aren't starters or in the team anymore. He's obviously a better recruiter but not a better evaluator. UNLV just beat Houston a B12 school 27-7, & 72-14 in their last game. Odom will be back in the SEC soon. He's a really good coach. BC does not have more talent than FSU. FSU's problem is that DJ is not a good QB. That will kill a team. FSU is #13 in talent rating 3 5-stars & 41 4-stars. BC is 82nd. 4 4-stars. Talent is meaningless without execution. QB is 80% of that.

Sampling size is not enough to know whether BC is just good this year or if FSU was just bad. All I know is that we were told the entire week leading up to the FSU game how elite FSU's offensive and defensive lines were. Based off of my observations this far, BC seems like they are better prepared going into these games than in years past. BC has dominated both sides of the line so far this year against Florida State (Who Nick Saben stated that their defensive line was elite) and also against Duquesne (In years past BC would always play down to their FCS opponents where they would win, but usually keep it within 28 points aside from the Colgate game back in 2021). But again the sampling size isn't enough to conclude if BC is ready for the big time. A win against a very good Missouri team would certainly be a statement to the college football world that BC is an elite team this year.

I’m excited for this game but frustrated it comes this early. BC is playing really well but we don’t have a ton of depth. The goal should be making the ACC championship and four consecutive weeks of non conference play this early in the season risks that if/when we start having injuries. I’d almost rather a bad loss here with everyone healthy than a win where our guys get banged up. Go Eagles

Realistically BC doesn’t have the talent to compete with this WR corps. Cook has struggled with his accuracy at times, especially when he has to throw under pressure. Your only hope is if you can somehow pressure him without allowing him to scramble, and even then you’re gonna have to deal with a tough defense on the other side
all true sons should celebrate the resurgence of boston college football if for no other reason because it helps to shut down the chatter that mizzou has a cupcake schedule. the eagle quarterback is extremely slippery so tigers must rely on the superior speed of the back half of the death row defense to contain him. what BC cannot do is match mizzou in high quality offensive and defensive depth. with three deep quality at most slots on both lines there is a strong chance that the eagles will be worn down by the toughness size and physicality of the big uglies in the trenches. could be close at half but the zou will pull away later.

If you don’t think Mizzou is licking their lips for revenge from that field storm you’re crazy. That Deathrow Defense is one of the best in the entire country. Im trying to keep it PG and respectful bc the comments ive read have been the same. But i grew up playing sports, clearly wasnt good at it but my entire childhood was sports, not even really girls. If i was outside and not riding my bike i was playing some sport somewhere all of the time year round. Eli has built a next man up culture so while we will continue to lose talent to the NFL we feel fine wirh our backups. Mizzou is special this year. Mizzou has a culture that gets passed down from one year to the next. No its not UGA or Bama etc.... may never be and thats okay too. But they dont retool they reload at mizzou now. Only way teams beat mizzou last year was by passing the ball and said teams had nfl talent on offense in LSU and UGA. I promise BC doesnt want to force mizzou to throw the ball. BC needa to make it a grind it out slow game to have a chance. Im not aaying BC wont keep it close. Im also not saying Mizzou wont blow their doors off. Realistically BC doesn’t have the talent to compete with this WR corps. Cook has struggled with his accuracy at times, especially when he has to throw under pressure. Your only hope is if you can somehow pressure him without allowing him to scramble, and even then you’re gonna have to deal with a tough defense on the other side
Oh and don’t forget about the rushing attack, they will pound it down your throat until you stop them
all true sons should celebrate the resurgence of boston college football if for no other reason because it helps to shut down the chatter that mizzou has a cupcake schedule. the eagle quarterback is extremely slippery so tigers must rely on the superior speed of the back half of the death row defense to contain him. what BC cannot do is match mizzou in high quality offensive and defensive depth. with three deep quality at most slots on both lines there is a strong chance that the eagles will be worn down by the toughness size and physicality of the big uglies in the trenches. could be close at half but the zou will pull away later.
Also MIZ has 286 pass ypg, 217 ru ypg. We're not a running team. We're balanced.

Im trying to keep it PG and respectful bc the comments ive read have been the same. But i grew up playing sports, clearly wasnt good at it but my entire childhood was sports, not even really girls. If i was outside and not riding my bike i was playing some sport somewhere all of the time year round.
Eli has built a next man up culture so while we will continue to lose talent to the NFL we feel fine wirh our backups. Mizzou is special this year. Mizzou has a culture that gets passed down from one year to the next.

Only way teams beat mizzou last year was by passing the ball and said teams had nfl talent on offense in LSU and UGA.
