Chief engineer rocks! The way he shows the main engine, the proud in his body language, the level of his voice... Man, this man has got the skills... He should be hired by Discovery Channel or something similar. Cool, cool, cool. br
Great video very interesting and informative ,always wondered what life aboard is like, very comfortable life for the crew while away from home ,and the food looked better than most restaurants, but I'd hate to pay the fuel bill.
having retired after almost 40 years at Nedlloyd and pre owners, as a chief engineer on the largest container vessels, i find it most disturbing, that a company like maersk, has been allowed to take over my company. this was against all competition rules. after the take over, they got rid of all officers below the rank of captain and chief engineer. they were replaced with cheap eastern europe ans asian labour. Maersk is absolutely ruthless in their business and i have felt the results from their sub-standarts practices. i DO hope that this will go through.
Documentario bellissimo e molto interessante.

Great video, would thank you if you can make 6 min series about sailing technique and challenges, captin responsibilies, traing schools, wages of sailers... Etc.
I've been sailing for 25 years on ocean going tugs and supply ships. And watching this video makes me realize how primitive I've been living. Months on end at sea, with hardly any privacy. But I would'nd have missed it for the world. On board of this ship I would miss the feeling of being a seaman. Nevertheless a very good impression.
This was a Maersk ship under the name Nedlloyd Barentsz after Maersk acquired P&O. In 2015 the ship was sold. Now she is the MARCO R with Liberian registry.
18:45 That is what's known as the bi-weekly "Cake with Captain" assembly. After which there is often a round of rigorous and spirited buttock slapping, inspired of course by ancient maritime tradition, followed by the ceremonial sacrifice of an orangutan, lamb, sloth, or cabin boy (if he be brown of skin). It's good to see the old ways are still being honored.
Brilliant isn’t it, those guys working down the engine room getting their ear drums blasted out wearing nothing but ear plugs. Spent my whole life in the merchant navy and no matter what the flag on the arse end nobody give a shit about your long term health

Interesting vid with realistic impressions of work + life on a container vessel at the beginning of this millenium. Thank you!
This is a fantastic video, I'm so glad I stumbled across it
Wow that galley is gleaming! All looks very professional.

Haha, the engineer could have his own TV show. Or a shop selling ship engines. :)
Wow, thank you. That was really interesting. I always wondered what it was like on one of these container ships.

The chef from Indonesia right? But now all the ship crew mostly from filiphine..
I'd like to try a glass of the on-board "sweet" water. Sounds delicious. The best water I've tasted (so far) was somewhere in the Netherlands.
No way you drink water!! You wouldn’t catch me drinking that hard stuff. Rock n Roll big time!!
Nice to see you all the best
I loved the video, congratulations!!Fantastic👏👏👏👏
Looks like fun. Reminds if my military floats in the US Marine Corps.
the officers eat well, staterooms look bigger than on cruise sips, any passengers allowed?
Same food quality for the crew.

Not in this company. Ear muffs were supplied, but if somebody did not want to use them, they cannot be forced.
