The playoff format that exists is flawed and it sucks, but SEC Commissioner Sankey agreed to it. As a Crimson Tide fan, I'm more upset with Deboer and his staff's mismanagement of the roster Saban left him than I am with the Corrupted CFB playoff committee. At the end of the day, you cannot lose to Vanderbilt and turn around and lose to an Oklahoma team that used the EXACT same game plan as Vanderbilt did.
One thing about the SEC is they have more passion top to bottom than any other conference. Oklahoma may have a 6-5 record but that didn’t stop them from playing their best game against bama. That’s what the SEC has to deal with every single week
A bad precedent is being set. Indiana removed Louisville from their schedule because it was too much competition. They were rewarded. Rhett Lashley basically knew SMU would lose to Clemson so he focused on how to get in with a loss in that game. A loser’s mentality is being rewarded at the moment. Honestly this is a reflection of our society as a whole. I hope things will change moving forward.
@@artofficialjoeAnd where are you getting these conspiracy theories from? It's a lot less stress if you just accept that yesterday is gone and welcome back to mediocracy, and I think deep down you know this.
Bama’s non conference schedule had nothing to do with our 3 losses, we didn’t get punished for playing a tough schedule, we got punished for losing by 21 to a team we were favored by 20 against
No but no need to make it any harder bc our schedule will already be harder than the schedules of other teams in different conferences. Penn st notre dame Indiana smu Clemson have always sucked and everyone if these teams are in the playoffs after literally playing a one game season smh unless you think these teams have all of a sudden turned a corner in one season then you realize these teams are in bc they played a weak schedule and now we have a bonafide 4 team playoff bc we have 4 good teams and 8 cupcakes
I swear some of y'all are sooooo surface level with y'all thinking. This was bigger than Bama take Bama away from the conversation still doesn't change the obvious flaws in this 12 team playoffs which has been highlighted instead of running the argument of losing to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma into the ground because no Bama fan hasn't disagreed on that point
The argument of punishing a conference championship team only holds weight if both contenders are already in the playoff seeding (e.g. Big 10 and SEC) when Clemson is #17 it really just doesn’t. Alabama is still ranked #11 by the committee, however the seeding process means we aren’t seeded in our final CFB rank. We need to fix auto bids.
You are right on. Yet even then, you need to have some sort of platform for measuring team performance, that the committee must follow and not change the way they arrive at the "best" teams from one season to the next. This committee is changing its evaluation methods throughout the season and from one year to the next. It seems they are being "steered" by something other than an equal and consistent criteria of each teams accomplishments within the context of the scheduled opponents they play.
I should add, that ""steering" force is the current format that forces the inclusion of teams who are inferior but rewarded seeding because they won a conference championship and that alone, without the context of the opposition, is what they must follow.
It would be all fine and dandy though if Alabama was one of those teams getting the bid wouldn’t it. But not good now because they didn’t get one. Am I right or wrong.
@rogerburton4880 nah u got twisted my guy.. I would say the same thing if we were in but having teams like Boise and Arizona playing that schedule and walking in to a seat awaiting competition that's unfair for Big 10 and especially the SEC..Just look at what Georgia went through.. They literally went through hells fire just to get there! That's what I mean when I say they have to cut that crap out.. it's ridiculous
I think the most disappointing part was that most of us accepted bama’s fate of them not making the playoffs after the OU game but then everything kind of fell into place the next week and we had a chance (small chance) to still make it in despite 3 losses. If we had absolutely 0% chance, the blow wouldn’t have been as bad yesterday. I kind of wish we didn’t have a chance at all. The false hope made everything 10x more disappointing than it should’ve been.
The false hope was perpetrated by the media. It got the entire country riled and the eventual committee outcome was likely predetermined. Look how they did the dramatic unveiling, holding back the reveal of 11 seed until the final moment and then the nation is reveling that was bama left out. Agree we all felt we were out after OU and at the time understood we really deserved no chance.
and why did Bama lose to Oklahoma, I will tell you why , the horrible ball hog RB trying to play QB Jalen Mil-Doo-Doo, 11-36 passing 3 interceptions and a pick 6.
Punished? No Bama was punished for having to of the worse losses in the country to Vandy and a Terrible Oklahoma team. Did we really deserve to get it?
Does Bama lose to Vandy if they didn't put everything into prep for Georgia the week before? Easy to stay healthy when you play bottom 100 opponents week in and week out
I believe they already knew they was going to pick SMU but they had to use bama to draw those viewing numbers up to pay attention to the ACC championship game
Georgia would have lost to Kentucky and Georgia Tech if the refs had not pulled flags in their favor to bail them out. They finally played a tough schedule and should have 4 losses.
We controlled our own destiny. Then we placed ourselves in a position where we were reliant on others and it didn’t work out well. Nothing to fuss about, play Michigan hard and enjoy the bowl game, have a chip on the shoulder during the offseason and prepare well and improve before next season ! RTR
Schedules need to be made new every season before the season. If you went undefeated by playing all the cupcakes in your conference then the next season all the top teams in the conference play each other and all the cupcakes in the conference play each other
I am not wasting a minute watching any of those play-off games. With the exception of TX and GA, the rest are cup cakes. I will wait til TX plays GA for championship game.
Facts: Bama wasn’t punished. They did not meet the Bama standard. I do think the autobid screwed us because # -6 Clemson got in over # 11 Bama, but all Bama had to do was win in Norman.
If you’re a troll from an inferior conf you better listen close. The SEC commissioner, presidents, ADs, and coaches aren’t gonna go for having 3 teams sitting at home that are better than 1/3 of the field. Ole Miss and Bama are capable of beating ANYONE in a big time game given two weeks to prepare, probably SC as well! The SEC and Big10 are gonna break away similar to how the NFL is setup with two leagues, each will have a guaranteed number of spots in the playoffs and they will battle it out to see who’s the champ!! That’s coming, just a matter of time imo! Most all of the big time recruits go to the SEC or Big10 now more than ever anyway. For example like 29 of 31 5⭐️ recruits ended up in the SEC and Big10. So I expect big changes coming over the next couple of years, the SEC has turned into a gauntlet of a conf and they aren’t gonna continue to bid for playoff spots with inferior conferences!! If it’s not broken up this way they’re gonna find a way to get the top 30-35 teams to battle it out in a league of their own imo. The SEC has become the big dog in every sport now so they’re gonna get their way and probably deserve to!
SEC should go the other way, we have 16 schools with 3 non conference games each, have 3 each of our schools play Oregon, and Ohio State, and Penn State, and Miami and so on and then at the end of the year see how many of those teams have 3 losses saying they deserve to get into the playoffs.
The SEC plays the hardest schedules in the country while the rest of the country plays one or two big games each year. Some teams in the playoffs haven’t beat a ranked team so how is that right?
By your logic every year some SEC team should be at the top of the bracket .this competition crap you all are talking is nothing but a way to keep the SEC on top .
