    "In conditions where we have high serum sodium levels that would cause the cells to swell, this would cause the hematocrit to rise as well."
    Wouldn't high serum sodium (hypertonic solution) result in shrinking of the RBCs?

      I know this comment is 2 years old so correct me if I'm wrong, but where sodium is water follows. Although the sodium levels are elevated, so water flows to where sodium is causing the sodium to be more diluted.
