    Such a sweet car. So original. I really would clean out the sump pan first. Give it some love..The benefit of an engine thats been sat long is all the crap in the oil sits at the bottom. Takes the sump off, clean out that grey gunge. Refill with nice clean oil. Give it some love, saves sucking all that crap up from the sump that the car was running witbmh for years, saves sucking that gunge into the oilways. That really is such a sweet car. I love originality. Especially upholstry. Nice to see you can still find real gems. Its taken me years to settle on which American car I like the most. The subtle year changes, the super styling. Finally I settled on the 1958 Pontiac. Or similar GM body type..Really would like to find a a nice one with a nice blue/greeen turquoise interior..Difficult being over here. Seen a few in your yard visits!

    Actualy you dont have a Belair; that package was avail until 1952.
    Nice clean csr. Those 6 bangers are bulletproof.
    Looking firward to seeing progress.

      Wrong. The first hardtop was a BelAir. It became a complete line of all body styles in 1953.

      Tacohead is correct. 1950 hardtop was first year of Belair.

    This is a very cool old car. Prime candidate to take a junkyard LS and computer, injectrion system... and may as well grab the junkyard transmission while there as well... jam it in this old lady and make a reliable runner for many years to come... keep that straight six for a T-Bucket or go-cart lol Probably need to do bushings and tie rods... put a sway bar on there [build your own sway bar for the front and the rear]. New shocks... maybe springs if they're on sale. :-)) Be such a cool hot rod bud! Have the camera ready. I just subscribed to watch this build :-) New piston rings, bearings and lap the valves... dingle ball hone the cylanders... She'll be a ripper... maybe put some nice floors in that Chevy Impala and LS it as well... they work well with those Turbo jobs :-)) Hefty main journals... yada yada :-)) Some cool rigs though bud. Noice!

    Move the hose clamps back from where the hose goes on the hose barb/tube, after sliding the hose onto the tube, then loosen them enough to slide easily over the hose end. That way you won't have to fight to get the hose on. It was almost painful to watch you trying to slide the hose on with the clamp in place.

    • @resurrectionauto5714
      @resurrectionauto5714  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That wasn’t the issue, The hose clamp backed all the way out was still too small for the hose. They didn’t have large enough clamps.

    Over hear there is very much a lively rock n roll 50's and 60's scene. We try to live as close to a 1950's lifestyle. Of your into the cars your normally into the music and fashion..You have all the best records out there normally sitting in old shops!

    Sounds like rocker noise. Pull the valve cover and see if the rockers are oiling, if not pull the rocker shaft, and take it all apart and clean it and adjust valves. The rocker shafts are usually very varnished.

    Remove the fuel pump, the tank's sediment is getting into it. Add another see thru filter between the tank and fuel pump.

    • @Mercmad
      @Mercmad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep,always a waste of fuel if you pour it into a sleeping cars tank. A boat tank up front is easier to handle ,especially one with a bulb primer.

    I might not be your average viewer but I can't get enough of watching 50s and 60s cars brought to life and made road worthy. I'd almost pay to see that 59 Galaxie Skyliner project especially if you've gotta eff with the roof mechanisms! I tried to help someone years ago, and we struggled for a long time without getting that puppy right. PhD Mech Engineers might walk away from that. Whoooboy.

    Do you still have this car. LOL Is it for sale.? My Grandfather had this identical vehicle, right down to the color. I have two distinct memories of it. The time he brought me a surprise dog from the pound and it jumped out of the trunk, and the time I burned the tip of my tongue with the cigarette lighter. Good times.....well, the dog was at least.

    Cool car, engine does sound like a box of rocks. But I think you’ll figure that out. So in the fifty’s they would hot rod those sixes by putting a two carb manifold with a header. Worked well.

    The fuel pump is junk time to get a new one it should be pumping more fuel then it is the diaphragm in the pump is all dry or has a hole in it.

    • @resurrectionauto5714
      @resurrectionauto5714  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pull pump apart later off can just to see. The diaphragm actually looked good! But there are 2 check valves in there and one was locked up. It MAY be fine now after taking it all apart, but the new one is already ordered.

  • @79tazman
    @79tazman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would not use a fuel tank on a car that's been sitting unless it's been cleaned or you know it's clean because the junk in the tank can gum up the valves and make them sticky and gums up the carb too.
