The mistranslation/Censorship of "Oh come my way" will be very confusing until you realize hes saying something in Japanese "The Okama Way". Okama mostly meaning crossdresser and also implying effeminate and/or queer. Mr. 2 is one of the most amazing LGBT representations in all of media.
Its a pun, not a mistranslation, maybe try and learn things before complaining...thats why nobody likes woke americans
Its not censorship as much as it was a hard decision to pick one or the other. Because oda intended both. An A+ translation would put the double meaning in parenthesis or a side note, something you HAVE to do in fast paced japanese societal comedies like gintama or saiki kusuo. It would be nice if they did it in one piece as well because so many jokes are wordplay and it gets completely lost in 2d subtitles
@@Matty80822 I dont think its difficult to call it the crossdressing way. Its actually a very easy decision. Problem is that this happened many years ago and it was less accepted at the time. Take that for what it is. Even just keeping the word "Okama way" with no description would have been better. But they altered it for either mistranslation issues or censorship. Its pretty obvious.

@@935Demonit’s mostly character/relationship building. Chopper is the newest crew member while Zoro is the first crew member. And they each have unique perspectives. It’s mirrored by a conversation with Nami and Vivi. Real sweet stuff, I’m sad people told Haylo and Kiss to skip it 😢

Yeah, I think it'll reach right before Alabasta based on who they casted. No sign of Robin , Crocodile or Ace yet. Basically, the second half of season 2 will be when we meet Chopper / Drum Island.

My bet is on the second season ending after Luffy's first fight against Crocodile. Makes for a great and painful cliffhanger for season 3, maybe with a teaser that he gets some unexpected help ;)
There is a large park in Japan called Banana Crocodile Garden.
Bon Clay is also a "holiday name" (Oda confirming that being Mr 2 + Bon Clay is because the character is both a man and a woman) and they're actually supposed to be saying "okama way" not "oh come my way" - "okama" being a (partially reclaimed) term for someone who is AMAB but presents feminine. It actually says "okama way" on their jacket which, vibes wise, should probably be translated something like "queer life".

Mr 4 name is Babe, a homage to Babe Ruth, baseball player (and fourth beater) who despite of being an excellent beater was criticized to be fat and slow... That's the reason why Mister 4 speaks slowly. And yes, Miss doublefinger refers to New Year day. Put it is an author pointview. Nobody call this holiday this way.
David Dastmalchian has been casted as Mr. 3. talk about perfection.
He'll be perfect for Mr. 3 but when I first saw the casting I thought he was Bon Clay and I think I would have liked that better. Also he's a huge anime nerd so he'll do GREAT for the show! (there's an interview he did with Crunchyroll that is a great watch)

the point of luffy say that to vivi is because the main objective is to contact the rebels and try to talk to them because vivi was scared of crocodile and afraid of losing her own people so her solution is to talk to the rebels and hoping the rebels will retreat but what luffy said is correct here because the main problem is crocodile not the rebels so luffy want to beat the crocodile (the main problem) while making vivi realize that she can depend on the straw hat crews for that
so yeah episode 104 is great because it shows luffy leadership skills
The letters written on Mr2's back are pronounced Bon-kure
Bon and Kure mean the two big holiday periods in Japan
It has a very auspicious meaning, and in Japan, when something very good happens, we say "Bon and Kure came together"
Crocodile is one of the seven warlords who is very smart.
Fun fact: Its confirmed that the one piece live action has started shooting the Loguetown Arc!
And the title of the first episode of season 2 is "The Beginning and The End"

You should look for the conversation between Chopper and Zoro in the filler episode as it is such a poignant and insightful one.
I honestly think Luffy vs Vivi is one of the most underrate scene in the entire story.
Because Luffy knows that when his in danger, they are strong enough to overcome that danger. Luffy trusts his crew to fight, which is something Vivi has to learn, hear it's an inverse to the beginning of the that Drum island scene where Vivi calls Luffy a bad Captain, because he tried to fight the Villager.
Yes! They both are good at their roles but can teach each other a lesson about their flaws

I think its split pretty evenly about which is better... but people who dont want to watch fillers seem to care more.
As a filler enjoyer its only slightly a bummer that I miss out on those reaction moments

This is why I like luffy, he ain’t the smartest with his brain but he’s emotionally smart with his gut.
the slow build up, the tension, the emotion, Alabasta is such a magical arc
The way I understood the conversation between Luffy and Vivi was like this - Vivi wants to talk to Koza and get him to put off the rebellion in which millions of people are going to be involved. She knows that Crocodile is the one behind all of Alabasta's misery and believes that she will convince Koza after telling him the truth. Luffy, on the other hand, has now finally got some personal stake in the conflict and knows instinctively that talking to Koza would only be a short time solution as the main enemy, Crocodile, won't stop and would eventually find some other way to get what he wants. And so, he wants to address the root of the problem, Crocodile, himself. Vivi did not want that as she does not believe that they can take on Crocodile directly but Luffy demands that she put all their lives on the line, just like she had put her's on the line when she went undercover to infiltrate Baroque Works.
I'm mid Impel Down now so I'm really excited for the reactions for these episodes for reasons I won't spoil, but if u know u know.

@@Mark_Goddin it is great. Sometimes the really long fights are a little tiring (especially if there is too much mid fight talking), but the writing is really good and the pacing is just getting better and better since the issues in Alabasta and Skypia.
I'd recommend not skipping the fillers at least in the early parts. It might not be necessarry to the story overall but it still makes for a very enjoyable watch.

But they are too slow, they will take more than 5 years to reach anime, reactors that started because the live action are now in water 7.
At 4:00 when the translation says "oh come my way" its a pun on okama way. which roughly translates to gaymans way or cross-dressers way
That last episode confirmed to me that Luffy is absolutely insane haha. He has his own very strict code of ethics and internal rules that he just expects everyone else to understand and follow and he will lay down his life for you if he deems you worthy and beat you up if he doesn't. Or let you be killed or hurt until you do what he expects you to. Thankfully his views align with the correct course of action basically all of the time but he could easily have been a villain haha

Just a note, if any of the comments are saying to skip a really big arc a little after Alabasta, please dont. Its long and a little drawn out but you both will still love it, and it is hugely tied to the current arcs 1000+ episodes later, it's very important but so many people skip it because its a little on the long side, eventually they'll regret how much theyve skipped

Fun fact: Mr. 2 likely says "Oh, come my way" in English because of the Japanese pun. It sounds like he's saying "okama way" or the queer way. LIKE the word "queer," is a bit of a slur, so be careful with the use of the word.
skipping or watching filler is a you win some, you lose some moment. if they don't watch filler, people complain. if they watch filler, people complain. filler is not a requirement to watch one piece, so skipping is no big deal. it's their journey, so let them decide how they want to tackle filler. if they chose to follow their patrons (who are the ones actively paying them mind you), let them be.
That’s fair. I just feel they would have appreciated the character building in episode 102. Chopper is like their new favorite character and even if it isn’t strictly canon, it builds on canon and doesn’t conflict with it. It’s one of my favorite conversations that I personally think they would have enjoyed and would have reacted sweetly

I know skip but you should watch in your own time because some explain how some become close together and the one you skip doesn't say but you see something later on that pretty important.
I know your patreon said to skip the filler episodes, but that doesn't mean you two can't watch them on your own. They aren't always good, and it can be frustrating to wait for the main plot to progress again, but there are sometimes some fun stories, or cute scenes, or funny interactions in them. (I would HATE to have never seen the chibi-theater episodes for example) If you feel as you did at the end of this episode in the future, that you wanna watch more One Piece. I say go back and try the filler episodes you skipped. You can do it on your own, and relax. Who knows, you might like some of them. Good luck you two.

"Oh come my way" is a censor/mistranslation. It's "Okama way". Okama is a generalised term for people in the lgbt community plus crossdressers, kind of like how the word "Queer" is used currently. The reason it's being censored is likely because the word Okama has a very controversial past as it was used in a derogatory way in the past against transgender/crossdressing prostitutes.(Using modern variations of the words that they were actually based on back in the day.)
Despite it's controversial past it's kinda the only Japanese word to use to describe the general group of the lgbt. And similar to the word queer, the meaning has been turned into a more neutral-positive one by it's respective community, although can definitely still be used in a derogatory way.
(I also have to note that even tho I've been saying it's about the general lgbt community, technically it's solely related to gay/non-manly/crossdressing men and transgender women. Women only seem to have a word specifically related to being lesbian, so it seems like they also use the word Okama. It's quite a complicated thing in the Japanese language, as even the narrow vocabulary to use for it is all based on words for certain pots and pans.)
Some in the comment section are also as saying that "Oh come my way" is actually accurate in that it's supposed to be a pun that sounds like "Okama way". That is true for the translation for a song that came out later through a "Character Song Album", however the lyrics for the song were changed slightly from the anime, one of the changes are that Okama Way is changed to Oh come my way. I don't mean that the song was mistranslated btw, it's lyrics were changed to the literal English words "Oh come my way".

This episode confirms me that you two are the BEST One Piece reaction TH-camr.
People who get upset at Luffy punching Vivi and do not see the deeper meaning behind that punch DO NOT understand what makes him different from other protagonists and what makes the series special.
The series has always been, is always and will always be about going outside of the box and looking at the things you've always thought as right from different angles and noticing there are different sides to many things. So you really have to have open-mind if you truly want to enjoy the series.
Unfortunately, some of the Western fans (especially American fans) are not very open-minded and very often their minds are so crowded with their preconceived political ideologies that they completely misunderstand or miss the whole point of the many tropes in this anime. Maybe not only the anime, but I'm sure they misunderstand a lot of the things and the people they meet in real life too.
I'm glad you two are not those people and I think I can enjoy the series once again with you two without hearing biased ideologies, but with hearts.
The holiday partners work in order of importance. Christmas is more important than Valentine's Day. Golden Week is more important than Christmas. Bon Kurei is more important than Golden Week. Doublefinger to Oda is the most important day. Doublefingeris what Oda called January 1st as a kid and is also Oda's birthday.

Just wanted to let y'all know your videos are helping get me through a really rough time. GF has been dealing with court/legal issues and I've had little to no contact with her for a couple weeks so my stress is through the roof daily. Mr.2's "Oh Como my way" is actually a censored version of what he actually says: "O-Kama way", which basically means "I'm a homosexual crossdresser."
i'm pretty sure "Okama" just mean "Crossdresser" or maybe even "Transgender", and being an Okama doesn't neccesarily mean they're gay. And i'm not saying Mr.2 couldn't be gay, it's just his sexuality were never specified in any dialogue
