I enjoy hearing your cello covers. Especially from contemporary artists.

Amazing talent, Sarah. To answer your question: We don’t see many artists singing with a cello. Please do that with original songs. Eager to see your first #1 international hit. Texas proud.

Hi Chase! Thank you! I'm actually working on putting together a live show with voice, cello, and triggering - originals included. :)

If you want a Xmas song, do we Three Kings.
It'd allow you to have three distinct passages with the full lyrics and add in some true Oriental sounds into a Christmas mix- say Chinese, Indian, and Persian!

I'm so excited about Christmas, too! I would love to hear "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem" and "In the Bleak Midwinter." They both have a melancholy sound that is perfect for the cello.

I love cello concertos like Saint Saens, Elgar, etc. Would you consider doing videos on these?

+samuel john I have audio recordings, but not videos. The trick is finding a piano accompanist who can learn the part. That's a fun idea though!

Awesome videos, and you're an extremely talented musician!! As for cover suggestion? How about a Cello cover of Capriccio Arabe by Francesco Tarrega? A classical guitar piece that I think would translate beautifully to the Cello!

That is such a great idea! It might be a bit challenging, but I will definitely consider it.

+Sarah Joy Sorry, by cover I mean a cello interpretation in the flavour of Capriccio Arabe. It's a decidedly guitar piece, I should have clarified that better.

It would be nice to hear Sayuri's Theme from Memoirs Of A Geisha on the cello.

How does one know how much force to induce to the bow/finger board to make a tone or note lauder than other notes on a bar? It's kind of frustrating to practice.

+J Alvi Let the dead weight of your arms take care pf that. It shouldn't be about pressing. It should be about sinking in.

+BHYRHONNT INSTRUMENTALIST Both of them were classically trained, and it certainly shows in their performances! Their arrangements favor flash over subtlety, but I think that's one of the things that makes them so popular. It's not always my favorite style, but their technique is impressive, and they have incredible showmanship.

I am learning how to play the cello. I am having a hard time with finding a comfortable position to hold my cello because I am big busted. Can you give me any advice?

I've received similar questions, and found an article that might help. I really don't know how accurate it is, but you might try. I copied and pasted: Hold the lower two points of the C ( the points on each side of the back plate which stand out from the shape of the ribs ) with the inside of your knees. Make sure that the upper part of the back of the Cello (where the neck starts) is just above your breast. If your knees “work” well and hold the instrument gently but firmly, your breast won’t get in real contact with the Cello and so it won’t be squashed

Sarah Joy thank you so much, I'll try it out.

Is it really a "cover" if you take in a known (to you) song, and then take the essence of what that song meant to you, and rearrange it for the Cello (which most likely wasn't an instrument used in the original recording) but you play it and sometimes sing, but in such a different way when compared to the original...is it a cover?
Its not as easy as "copyrights infringment" but it should have a different name.

+J Alvi That's an interesting question. I think even the slightest incorporation of source material can get you into legal trouble. Fortunately, TH-cam takes care of most of that, but in other contexts you have to be really careful.
