Thrifting in Portsmouth, New Hampshire!

- Join me for a 1-day road trip to New Hampshire! I'll stop at two different thrift stores in Portsmouth on my way to visit my son in Durham, NH. We'll also make a stop for lunch and shopping in Kittery, Maine. When we return home, I'll show you my haul and explain what I plan to do with my new finds.
Here's the link to my ebay store: www.ebay.com/s...
I update my inventory on a regular basis, so be sure to visit often!
As a native of CT, who escaped to the Seacoast region of New Hampshire 20 years go, I wanted to assure you that you were looking for bargains in the wrong place. EVERYTHING in Portsmouth is outrageously priced. There are tons of better places to thrift on the other side of “The Bridge”(the Durham side). Also, you said you’d be broke if you lived that close to Kittery - hint - if you did you wouldn’t shop there in high tourist season. You’d go before and after when they usually have good sales. ( Hint; best time is late October through mid November after leaf peepers leave, before Christmas)
Thank you for the excellent thrifting tips! Next time I'll hit the other side of the bridge for sure.
Hint from a NH Goodwill shopper - the tags with “Hand Picked” on them are much higher priced than the rest of the store.
@@CherylDelVicario I thought that at first, but some of the tags that didn't say that were also high. I couldn't figure out their system.
Seacoast NH is terrible for cell service, especially on Lafayette in Portsmouth!
@@shellygoncalves3056 I hate to admit it, but I was lost without my ability to do online research in the store!
I'm from Portsmouth and it is very hard to "thrift" here! prices are high! Same thing at yard sales here, people price their items so high there often isn't any room for resale 😒Gotta love the yard sales when they print out ebay "listings and put next to the items, Not sold comps just listing prices. Yikes!!
WHAT???? They put the listings next to the items? I think I would fall over laughing if I saw that! Craziness!
I would have grabbed those plates with the pine trees. Loved those!
They were very cute! I was feeling hesitant because I couldn't research them on my phone (no service).
Another great episode Kris. The pieces you purchased are lovely.
So glad you were able to visit your son. He is a very handsome young man and I can tell that you are so proud of him. Always love seeing your fur babies.
Thank you so much! I'm a proud mama, it's true! 😊😊
You are very good on camera, and your videos are so well-done. Love the cats and enjoy any interaction.
You will be very successful because you are a natural!! 😊
Thank you so much for saying so! Your comments just made my day!
I always love new & different thrift stores to explore! OMGoodness!… those prices!!! Outrageous!! Love the kitties waiting for you! Glad you bought those blue transferware plates & bowls
The prices were crazy, but they definitely had beautiful merchandise. I've never seen so many nice things at a Goodwill.
Great video. I love glassware! Loved the kitties waiting for you. You have a very handsome son!! So glad I found your channel. I have to tell your every time!
I'm so glad you enjoy my channel! It's VERY kind of you to leave me a comment saying so!
What an adventure you had, loved seeing the sights and meeting your son. That goodwill was insane. I don't know how they have any customers. Thanks for sharing Kris.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I was astonished by the prices, but I have to admit - they had some beautiful things for sale.
Loved this video, brought back memories of Durham, NH. Thank you for taking us on a tour of UNH and Goodwill. Your son is handsome, by the way.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the vlog!
You're so welcome! ❤Glad you had a good visit with your son and even got some thrifting in! Love those blue sandals too.
Thanks Laura! 💕💕
I noticed the name of Charice Cliff on the back of the Royal Staffordshire blue set. She was a popular designer of dishware designs and highly collected. My cats are shedding terribly now, too.
Yes, I mentioned the designer's name in my ebay listing. The dishes have already sold! They were so beautiful. Good luck with your shedding situation. I just finished vacuuming! 😂😂
I’m amazed at the goodwill prices, thanks for sharing this info video. ♥️
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I live in NH and love to thrift but rarely go to any Goodwill here anymore. Goodwill of Northern New England which includes ME, NH and VT just keep raising their prices. Sometimes I’ve seen items I could buy for less money new. I’ve been watching your videos to see good places to thrift in CT. My daughter did the opposite of your son. She left NH for UConn. I sometimes get to thrift when I visit her and her family in CT.
I didn't realize that the prices were so much higher in Northern New England! I'm glad you have an excuse to come to Connecticut for your thrifting fix!
You are right! Those Good Will prices are WAY too high. That’s NOT good will - that’s bad will!🤣
Bad prices and bad will! 🤣🤣
I love the sandle and they do not have the flat ones with the back anymore . I live in florida and I wear mine in the Waterpark water .
They are perfect water shoes! I just ordered another pair in beige because I'm loving them so much. (I'm wearing the blue sandals right now!) I'm very jealous that you live in Florida, by the way.
The Royal Norfolk bowls and mugs are a Dollar Tree brand!
Yes, I've since learned about that. Oh well, they're still pretty and hopefully someone can use them.
@@WorthingtonHome they are pretty and I’ve had some bowls for years and they’re still in good shape!
If you haven’t been to pandemonium in deep river, check it out, open Tuesday thru Sunday and let them know Bob sent you…you won’t be disappointed
I live in the seacoast region. Such a fun video. ❤
The prices are ridiculously high thrifting is no fun in the area.
My son is going to unh to get a physics major.
UNH is such a great school, isn't it? I've been so happy with it! I hope your son is having a good experience there!
❤❤❤
If you come across butter pats, and or bone plates, can you grab them? I'd definitely purchase them from you
Sure! I don't usually look for them, but now that I know you're interested, I'll keep my eye out!
Oh my! at the prices .. I am 😮 I have been a thrifter since late 1970s while in high school, and this is making me sad.
They were sky high, but their inventory was definitely far nicer than anything I've ever seen at a Goodwill before.
She would be in trouble 😂😮 if anyone found out
Then let's not tell! Actually, I believe she was the manager.
I did notice you forgot the blue tag sale
It's never a good thing to miss a sale, that's for sure!
Those were pricey items you found in Goodwill.
Definitely! I've never been to such an expensive Goodwill, but to be fair, they definitely had beautiful things!
yeah I do not even waste my time and gas going to GW's in new hampshire ... they over price everything
Next time I head to New Hampshire I'll give Goodwill a pass, for sure.
@@WorthingtonHome there is a goodwill bins store in hudson NH where they sell things by the pound ... I call that place a little piece " HE double hockey sticks " on earth . I never go there anymore and I never find anything but that is me... again that place causes me so much anxiety
I cannot BELIEVE those prices at the Goodwill!! They get everything FREE and charge antique store prices…you can do better at antique stores…truthfully!! May I ask why you “side eye” in your videos?
Good question! I "side eye" to try to avoid the sun glare bouncing back on my glasses. That's why I tend to hold up plates and other items at a side angle as well. I've tried to film in different rooms and filming at different times, but unless I film at night (which I don't enjoy), it's a bit of a problem unless I turn to the side. Also, I agree with you about the prices!
@@WorthingtonHome Thank you for your response…as a photographer, I know the problem with that. However, you can look forward but tilt your head ever so slightly to avoid the glare. OR, get non-reflective lenses! I don’t know if you have seen Sherry on Canterbury Cottage TH-cam, but she also wears glasses and looks directly at the camera. It is much more engaging than side-eye! But you are adorable, and enjoyed your trip to Portsmouth, one of our favorite “haunts.”
