This is the first tutorial the presenter learned along with his viewers by way of exploration and discovery.

This is exactly what I needed, feel like I can hop off halfway through the video and start editing, but I know I best finish all of the lessons first. Let's not be haisty

6:46 If anyone else will come across this and wonder the same ... this template uses layers. You have to press F6 (or go to menu Windows -> Layers) and select the background layer, then you can edit the contents.

Your series on Scribus has been so helpful! Is there a way to create a few book layouts and then save them as templates for future use?

    • @TJFREE

Yes. You can create your own templates and save them. I forget how it works, but I think you can convert an existing Scribus project into a template. If you do it, consider sharing your templates with the development team, it would be great to have a larger collection of templates!

The Story Editor has no Undo function which is a major pain in the ass! The changes you make with it cannot be undone from the main Scribus Edit menu either.

Hey TJ, I'm enjoying your Scribus tutorials! You may want to correct the spelling of the video title.

1:17 _Libertarian Serif_ is quite a funny name. I’ll remember it.

I am on Linux. How do I open a template for editing it? Let's say I created a template, saved it and now I want to open it again, to continue changing it. My templates are saved to /home/chris/.config/scribus/templages. The problem is, that when I want to open this directory, Scribus does not show dotted directories.

hi there TJ. Ive been following your channel, and very impressive tutoring i must say. You make these softwares seem so easy and thank you for that.
by the way, i'm currently planning to publish a book, may I ask, aside from the 'book template' already available in the software, is there any websites that i can add more templates to the already existing collection?
    thanks in advance 😁

Hi, I downloaded Scribus 1.5.4 as a substitute for PageMaker 7. I am able to open PMD files however, it does not import the guide positions nor does it automatically use the correct font although it displays correctly. When you edit it, it changes to the default font which is Arial. I managed to recreate a new template within Scribus that mirrors the original PageMaker layout and would like to know if there is a way to open existing PMD files in that new template rather than having to copy and paste text from Pagemaker into the new Scribus template. Thanks in advance.

I have not been able to find out how to move text from a Windows doc to Scribus. When the search tool takes me to the mimic of my File Explorer I can see the file where the Windows doc resides but it will not open to allow me access to the document. It will not copy and paste from Windows to Scribus. Am I am reduced to retyping the entire document? Is there a solution to this?

Scribus - from SCRIBE - not scribble. Scry-bus.

I always thought of it more like Scrib, the latin word for Write, so I pronounce it as I would scribble, scripture, subscription, transcript, etc...
