I have an honorable mention: in a Price is Right 1999 episode celebrating model Janice's birthday, in Punch a Bunch, Johnny punched all four earned holes, and after drawing the second envelope which was $500, he hurried to accept it and did. Then when Bob was drawing the last two envelopes, the fourth and last one that Johnny would have won was... $10,000! 😱
Richie Bell should have just walked away! I know the feeling of wanting to trust your instinct and be the first millionaire but that is a huge difference with money. Compared to Jessica Robinson, the minimum was $200,000 so with 6 digits as every option, there is no reason not to take the risk.
5:42 *In the Banks era. I'm positive there were no less than 4 contestants that were Champions during Tomarken's era who ended up winning nothing. And there was one in Newton's era as well.
The actual answer was “things with instructions”. Harry was saying what you do with directions, and from my understanding, that would capture the essence of the answer with that clue, hence why he was disqualified.
@@AaronTheCrystalClod Ehh...that seems nit picky to me in the same way that Naval officer lost out on that one wheel of Fortune puzzle simply because she did not pronounce it "swimmING". The guy did not say the exact word that was used, he said the word "directions", which is only a synonym for instructions, but not the exact same word. If I was that guy, I would have sued the studio and the game show.

Sale of the Century had some heartbreakers, especially when Dawn lost the $99,000 jackpot by $2 in the Speed Round

3:50 Losing horn sound effect.
6:12 The fact that it's the late Harry Anderson makes me feel that much worse. Poor guy.
5:24 NOO you've got to be kidding me...!

I could hear the clock winding down on that Pyramid clip.

Zack from the last PYL season definitely needed to be there.
That clip of Richie getting served with $1 instead of $1,000,000 will never get old. Just unbelievable greed and I was so glad to see him get nothing.
He'd actually taken a challenge for $10,000 earlier and won. So he left with $10,001.

2:44 One debt to society later...
13:13 You just lost... (audience groans) $218,000.
14:28 zapped my heart. 'Nuff said.
4:44 NO!!!
Here's a heartbreaker you missed: Ken Basin going with the audience on WWTBAM 10th anniversary and gets the $1 million question wrong
That was already featured in this episode: th-cam.com/video/el9z6PcZ8SQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JAH5SmLCOWVxIK4d
Seth wasn't confident enough to go all in
Matthew's overconfidence cost him the half million dollars on "Press Your Luck"
in 5:23 where did the audience go on the third season of Press Your Luck?
One word...Coronavirus.
That Jeopardy moment at 11:48 - does anyone know when that is from?
Season 2 (1985-1986), but that’s the only circulating footage from that episode. It is unknown what the exact one is so far.
@@GETENT That's why I don't remember it. I started watching Jeopardy in 1987.
@@deja.vunathanAnd since I made the original comment, the original airdate was found to be 1/1/1986
How did Ken Basin getting the $1,000,000 question not make this video?

2:43 "One debt to society later..."
Couldn't have waited 30 seconds? 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kidding aside, I do like the use of the SpongeBob Squarepants time card.
How game show history changed with this one moment. Had things been different, Brad would have been a potential afterthought.

I don't understand what happened with the $25,000 pyramid guy. Why was he disqualified from winning?
The actual answer was “things with instructions”. Harry was saying what you do with directions, and from my understanding, that would capture the essence of the answer with that clue, hence why he was disqualified.

He misread the prompt. He needed to list things that come with instructions, but he listed what you do with instructions.
Donna Leaves With 21,000 Pounds.
@6:01 he didn't give away the answer so I don't understand what he did wrong 🤨
None of the clues he gave were things with instructions and/or directions to follow.

15:04 I’m curious as to why she took the deal if she had the two highest amounts left?
I don't think Leslie choked.
Uh yeah she did. She was in the lead @ all she had to do was wager to beat Brad by $1.
