      @@storylitfilms (writing for my major account) Hey, same here. Revenant has influenced my deeply and I am very keen to try out wide angle cinematography in the way Lubezki does it. Actually thought about getting the Tokina ATX 11-20 Cine for that matter. @storylitfilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your kind words Nekon! Means a lot! In answering your question, yes the BlackMAGIC 12k is a great camera and it handles really well in editing. I shot most of this in 8k with a few 12k clips, then down sampled the footage to 4k and exported it at 4k resolution. This was all done from a 2019 iMac. The new resolve 18, with a Mac M1 chip should be able to handle any footage easy!

    • @storylitfilms
      @storylitfilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha very tough choice! Both have a great image, you’ll definitely get better frame rate and resolution options on the 12k. But the Komodo has the advantage of Being part of the RED family, compact size, and the image actually matches really well with the new red raptor

      @ChevitosJourney 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      OH MAN, THAT DID NOT HELP AT ALL. hahahaha! - The thing is, I already have the BMPCC 4k and 6k, so I'm assuming it would flow better with the 12k - I also have (A7sII and A7sIII) so, adding a completely new system wouldn't make sense...but then again...it's Komodo! hahaha. You obviously chose BM12k over Komodo, why? :D

    • @storylitfilms
      @storylitfilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the struggle is real! Hahaha anytime I’m between two cameras I hate life!
      As far as which one to buy, I haven’t bought either but have shot on them both. I can see benefits to both. If you’re in the LA area I think you’ll get hired out more with a Komodo kit. But if that’s a non issue it sounds like the 12k is a great fit for you. Just beware that it doesn’t offer prores, unless there’s been a recent firmware update. You can only shoot in BRAW.

      One thing that mat help for sharpening is to create a power window node over the parts of the skin that’s shown and then increasing the “Midtone” detail. I did own the ursa G1 and G2 and have shot with the 12k once. I’d say the G2 and 12k match up great with the ARRI cameras. It’s easier for me to match Blackmagic with ARRI then Red and ARRI. But all three of those cameras provide a beautiful cinematic look. The Ursas have great color science but their image will fall apart faster when pushing the exposure higher or lower on the camera. Too dark and what's the point of using the 12K if you upload it at a lower resolution?

    • @storylitfilms
      @storylitfilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry it was too dark for you, it actually sits at the right levels on my waveform in DaVinci so maybe your brightness is too low.
      The appeal of shooting 12k or 8k for a lot of folks is downsampling to 4k. It does indeed provide a cleaner image. But I think this camera will have most of its appeal in the vfx, XR stage, volume stage world for sure. Actually ARRIs new line up coming in 2022 is supposed to feature both and 8k and 12k camera ;)
