We're all unique when it comes to body shape, then combine that with our personal style, and no one gun will work for everyone. I personally run a 43x when i need to deep conceal. Whereas my standard carry is an HK VP9sk w/15 round mags in an OWB holster a 3oclock that still conceals with just a t-shirt. Those choices may not work for everyone, but they work for me and that is what matters.

That shorter barrel means the difference between comfortable and uncomfortable carry for me. A pillow wedge fixes issues with keel. The grip is an issue sometimes, but I might just get a 43 frame and switch it out in the summer. To each their own I suppose.
I thought about getting a 43 frame for my G48. I switched up the clips on my holster that allowed for the gun to ride more center line. Moving the gun over the width of a belt loop can make a big difference.
I just put a Faxon Barrel/Comp on my 48 paired with the PSA 15rnd magazines and it feels like a G19 built for small hands. It runs and I trust it. I still use my Enigma holster after I shaved down the Kydex a bit to fit the compensator 💪🏽🔥

Appendix carried the 43X. Practice sessions were no fun. After spending money on new mag release, Shield Arms mags, holster and ammo, I really hoped I would eventually warm up to the pistol. Nope, and I sold it to a buddy who just had to have it. Wish I would’ve seen your video sooner, as I never even considered the 48. Thanks. Liked and subscribed.
I chose the 43x and I'm glad I did... Sitting in the vehicle the holster is already digging into my groin enough, I don't want another inch of holster to make that even worse. Weight is just another reason...
I carry the Glock 48 in a TXC X1 Pro holster. It’s the best holster I’ve ever used, because it’s designed to not just hold the firearm, but to conceal it. Works for me, anyway. Love your informative videos.
I actually considered the 48 along when i got my 43x...i love my 43x but I've also been looking into ways to carry my G19 for the reasons you described. It's not just the 43x...alot of ccw/sub compact guns are alot harder to shoot compared to a compact or fullsize gun.
I'm grateful that you do these videos. I don't like how glocksl feel for me but understand people that love them, all the guys in my family. You talking about different guns helps me understand when women ask me question that I'm not sure about give them a more informed answer. Thanks so much.
I did the same thing as you. Was carrying the 43x for almost a year and on a whim I picked up a 48 when I sold my last 40 cal. Noticed it was only slightly longer than the 43x I starting thinking about switching. Took them both to the range and shooting the 48 felt like second nature to me. Little effort got my groupings tight with the 48. I struggled with the 43x. Switched right then and there and couldn’t be happier.
I got a Glock 48 partly based on information from you. I did not need a small gun, but because I wanted a Glock that fits my hand. It became my favorite Glock. The trigger is lot stiffer than what I expected from era of Gen 5 though. Original Glocks (G17, G19) have grip thickness as if it was designed with 6ft tall special forces men in mind. I can shoot it, but it never felt comfortable. Even harder to manage when gloves come on.
Something to consider ….. G48 slide on pf9ss or g43 frame. You can still have the longer slide with the shorter grip. If need be , a Pearce pinky extension magazine plate can add a little more shooting comfort without adding much bulk. I built a pf9ss with the g48 slide. I found it to be more comfortable to shoot than I expected. I plan to try the Pearce pinky extension soon.
I don’t understand why folks carry IWB at the 12 o’clock position. Worst place for an accident, difficult when seated, and it’s a difficult draw. IWB crossdraw at say 10 o’clock is much better. But I’m influenced by my torn rotator cuffs.
I’ve had both the 48 and 43x. 43x is much better for concealed carry imo. Use a holster with a wing and it changes the game. Losing the extra few ounces of weight is actually quite a bit of difference in terms of all day carry
One thing I’ve learned branching out and trying 4-5 different carry guns over the last year is they’re all likely gonna be uncomfortable at some point. Invest in a good holster and and carry regularly and you get use to anything. I started with a ruger lcp and now carry a g19. I shoot better with a bigger gun so the x model guns don’t make sense to me when the grip is the hardest thing to conceal
I disagree. The 43x tends to bottom out on my waist, the 48 being longer doesn't. Also, much better to shoot. I carry a FS 5" MP or 4" PDP most of the time anyway. The 43x is good when I wear shorts.
@@Shadow__133 again like I said in my comment use a holster with a wing. The gun won’t bottom out, AND the 43x will fit in 48 holsters which would completely null that argument. Shooting impulse is damn near the same from the 43x to the 48, I have experience with both. My only benefit I’ll give the 48 is the extra velocity, and even that is negligible.
i live in CA so sadly these guns are off roster to me. but i went to my local gun shop and they had both the 43x and 48 as consignments. i decided to pick up the glock 48 because it was $250 cheaper. i feel like it’s big enough to go take to the range and have fun but small enough to conceal. i really wanted a gen 5 g19 but since im limited to 10rds i think this is a even better option!!
@@jacobpetersen5662 Not necessarily! A lot of times the issue mentioned above is solved by simply moving the gun into one’s concealment sweet spot. If the muzzle is running into other parts of the body that’s an indication that it’s not placed in the right spot for that particular persons body type. That can be an issue with even the best holsters 😊
I have found that with my body type, the "shelf printing" is the major issue. I think of it not so much as a keel, but a lever. More lever below the belt means you can leverage the slide in without having to push as hard on the pelvic region. Also, if a wedge is used, there is more room for a longer wedge. This spreads out the force pushing into you over a larger area. It is all about body type and it's nice there are two options.
Had the 43x and it was always tilting outward wearing it appendix due to the short barrel like you said. Got the 48 and liked it much beter. Good content 👍🏻
I have a Glock 48 and a Sig P365XL Comp and honestly hate carrying the 365. I carry at 3-4 o’clock and find that the slant on the rear of the slide digs into my side no matter the holster I use. The Glock 48 has never been an issue and it completely disappears. Both in printing and in comfort. I’m sure it is just me but it keeps me from carrying the 365.
I had a G48, replaced it with a Shield Plus. The size wasn’t an issue, I just learned after having the G48 that I’m not a Glock guy. My AIWB holster for my 3.1” Shield Plus was made for the 4” to help resist that tip-out, but I added a homemade pillow for extra assurance and comfort. I also learned that the Shield Plus is the smallest I feel comfortable shooting because at the ready my trigger finger reaches the end of the slide and it already requires a pinky extension. The best solution I’ve found so far? Full sized summer carry bb
I own a 43X and bought a 48 slide for it just for giggles. Performance will be marginally better with the 48 and I've found it slightly less snappy than the 43 slide. I also appendix carry a 17 with a TLR-1 light, so comfort of carrying isn't an issue for me. Great points from you though!
Excellent. I have the 43X with an Agency match barrel and Agency compensator. But, now I want the GLOCK 48 just because I want it. I like your no nonsense fact giving video.
This is true, my 43x def does exactly what you’re saying. I’m just gonna wait for radian to make a ramjet for it and hopefully that’ll add some length.
Any update on P365 in 380?? Please? Looking for smaller gun without sacrificing shootability. Also considering Ruger Security 380 for shootability, even though not terribly small.
Best analysis I've seen to explain why I found the G48 more comfortable and concealable than the 43s and 365s. I was so impressed with the 48, I bought a second one...Best of both worlds: flat, but a full sized Glock.
Love the channel and your reviews! Would love to see you review the Shadow Systems CR920 or CR920P. I’m between between that Glock derivative and the Sig you carry. Thanks!
@@Rawkfist1501 I found the CR920 too short for my hand so would need to carry it with the 13 + 1 mag. The Sig P365 XL fit my hand well. I’d probably get the compensated on each.
Also, FYI shield arms mags are known for giving more issues than uses not having issues. PSA has now made the same 15 round mag & with a polymer mag catch, so no need to replace a original mag release on ur glock & also has the flush fit.
I'm really super excited for the PSA integrated comp version of the 48 and the 15 round mags are a game changer for the platform. I do use a longer holster because options.
Wow, I came at this completely different. I wanted the smallest offering. The option wasn't a longer barrel but a shorter grip. The choices were 43 and 43x. Because most people get a mag extension to get a pinky on and a couple extra rounds anyway, I found the 43x a better option. I am big enough to run a 19 if I want a longer barrel. The 48 makes no sense for me here because I have a 19. They are more comfortable shooting with larger hands, too. P365 is very nice but a different monster.
Same here, i hate the 48 but edc a 43x mos and it works perfectly for my body. But the keel principal is absolutely true and i print more wearing a subcompact with no barrel below the belt than i do carrying a full size Glock 34 or P30.
19 grips feel bad n chunky 17 feels better better to me I went 48 I carry a 17 gen 5 and a prodigy iwb I’m 170lb and 5’9 I don’t get the fuss on that lil barrel difference will effect ik 48 lil less snappy and a better sight radius is y I went wit that when it comes to the 43x & 48 it’s all sheep wit the 43x due to TH-cam and it came out first 💀
@@watchyoutube9553sheep? Care to explain because if you’re trying to call me a sheep because I own a 43 acts that’s just asinine…. It’s just cause it came out first so I just bought a 48 slide and barrel so now I have both technically… I carry a 19 anyway but still… I don’t like being called a sheep
I was wondering why my 43X was such a pain with printing. Tried deeper clips but still prints unless I'm wearing something super loose. Thanks for the video!
I find it difficult to recommend a 365 anymore. After owning a spectre comp the gun is riddle with issues. The piss poor finish and rust being the most annoying one. Between Sig’s reputation with the 320, and even some issues that have plagued the 365, my confidence in that company has dwindled.
I’m planning on getting the 48 soon, currently I’m carrying the 43x and just can’t figure out how to comfortably carry it appendix, been debating on getting an enigma but don’t want to spend that much on an appendix only holster till I figure out the comfort thing, standing I’m having no issues but sitting while driving or at church is just awful. I hear all the comments about people carrying with zero pain and forget they’re carrying, I have a hard time believing this as I’ve tried everything. I’m around 5’9” at 175 with slight gut. If anyone can help in anyway I’d greatly appreciate it.
Yes absolutely, I’ve tried moving it around, no luck. I’ve tried wedges of various sizes, no luck. My next guess before I spend money on another gun without knowing if it’ll fix the pain is I’ll probably buy a g48 holster to use with the 43x to see if that’ll help. Any holster recommendations? Or anything else you can think of for me to try?
@@kellyfloyd1953 That's exactly what I would recommend. You don't need to buy a whole new gun, probably just a new holster and likely moving the holster slightly higher on your body. A couple of recommendations: 1) Make sure that you're placing your wedge on the lowest possible spot on the holster. If you want get an idea for what a longer holster might feel like without buying one try building your own wedge with this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/oC3P_xUOkdY/w-d-xo.html and then using this tutorial to place it properly: th-cam.com/video/QhYWmLoKL5o/w-d-xo.html to get a sense for what a longer holster might feel like you'll want to hang the wedge off the bottom of the holster by at least an inch. 2) If you determine that wedge use combined with a new (longer) holster is a good option to try next then I would recommend either the PHLster Pro or the Henry Holsters Flint Compact. Both have build in wedges, both have some extra length, and both can accommodate muzzle devices and optics. 3) If you want a longer, but still a very low profile holster design then I would recommend going with the PHLster Skeleton holster. You can always add or take away a custom wedge from that minimalistic holster body. Finally, I would HIGHLY recommend you take the time to watch this video also: th-cam.com/video/4_OXyli4ecU/w-d-xo.html it will help you navigate this comfort issue and any potential issues that may arise in the future such as skin discomfort and ride height.
This topic is all about personal comfort. I carry a Glock 23 for CC or a Glock 48 if I'm wearing less clothes. The 48 is more comfortable but the 23 conceals fine for me in most situations.
Great advice for us guys. I swap between a g27/26 which use g19 holsters, they're slightly longer and allow for better placement of a tear drop foam wedge than shorter 26/27 length holsters. Plus a Gunzee foam pad cut to shape for a gull purchase was also a game changer, and Mod-wings are mandatory paired with a proper ridged gun belt. Nexbelt and Kore are my preferred, screw leather don't care it's too damn flexible join the modern world lol. I'll be beta testing a heavy duty Gunzee pad in the next few weeks, if you're interested I'll share my experience with ya. Love the OG design but heavy activity makes most larger flat thick pads like that a wear item lasting round a year or so when you overlap n slightly wrap around the Mod-wing side of the holster like I do, but that's to be expected with foam but they cloth on 1 side & rubberised on the other does take abuse well.
Thanks for making such an informative video. I've definitely been having problems with the keel principle with my Shield Plus, not to mention the hot spot on the lower edge of my pelvic bone.
I have the P365 it’s literally a pocket gun with eleven rounds I carry it all the time now. In the past I carried the Glock 23, but the printing became an issue.
For the Glock 43x mos, 365xl, and the Hellcat I have the JX fat guy holster, even though I am far far away from the gentleman’s weight in the TH-cam videos, I find this holster to be very comfortable, it conceals great, the only thing I would say is you can’t get a so-called combat grip because the firearm doesn’t sit high above your waistline but with very little practice you can easily get use to it. Just my experience not here to change anyone’s opinion.
I carry a Glock 19 OWB 9 O’clock position. I’m a lefty. I wish the 19 had a longer barrel as it would actually conceal better for me. A longer barrel would contact my hip and prevent grip from printing. May have to get the new glock49, it has the grip of the 19, and the slide length of the 17.
You are missing a reason why I believe the 43x is better than the 48 and that would be balance. I feel the 43x is better balanced over the 48 just like I feel the 45 is a more balanced gun then the 17 or 19. The short slide, longer grip of the 43x or 45 provides this balance you don't get from the 48 or the 17/19. I do carry my 43x in a 48 holster though.
Or you get the correct CUSTOM holster that has the ability to be adjusted where you can lower the holster so you get that added length and the grip doesn’t push out.
I couldn’t agree more on all fronts. I had been AIWB carrying a G17 for years by the time the 43x/48 came out. I decided to pick up a 43x to have something “more comfortable and concealable” for hot summer days/more fitted outfits. Ended up selling it in short order as it printed way more than my 17 😂
I own and carry both! I would say as far as better goes, for carry, it depends where you carry. The longer the slide for appendix is worse. Well, at least in my case. As for any shooting differences, I am shooting the same group with both at yards ranging from, seven to twenty five.
When carrying appendix, a longer barrel has the downside of being more likely to jab you in unpleasant ways. Even if not poking you ***there***, it can still be quite painful by digging into your thighs when you sit down.
If the gun is poking into your legs that's usually an indication that you're carrying the gun too low. This short will explain in more detail: th-cam.com/users/shortst6kCQTHwIrw?feature=share
I chose a P365X over G43X because it had an optics plate, had a light rail, held more rounds, had a better slide release, had glow in the dark sights, and a better trigger.
I did the same thing for the same reasons, I then shot the p365x and it was awful. The higher bore axis helped with my target acquisition but as soon as a let a round off the muzzle flipped 4-6 inches straight up….follow up shots were really slow because I had to re acquire the target every time. I figured it was just me needing to work on my recoil control so I practiced and practiced and it did get better but I still didn’t like wasteing a whole sec to shoot again. I now know to shoot every gun before I buy it.😂 i traded it for a Glock 45 Gen5 and after that recoil control I worked on, it’s a nail driver and makes me very confident in mine and it’s ability. Sig lost my business unfortunately becuase they tanked the resale value of all their firearms by allowing bad QC to exist, they sell you a gun that mite go boom or it mite not for full price while everyone offers you $300 cash because Sig allowed faulty firearms to be circulated and now nobody really knows which mite boom and which mite not, and they don’t care. They fill their pockets and laugh, then produce more firearms with bendy barrels. They think we are sheep. So they lost my business.
Comfort... if so it should be very minute. The 43x is a very soft shooting firearm. If u don't use a dot, the longer barrel takes longer to get on sight. A longer gun can also take longer to draw. Harry's holster makes a 43x holster that's a little longer, this helps appendix comfort if that's an issue. So u prefer the longer barrel, but ended up with a gun with a shorter barrel than the 43x? Many people use the Shield Arms mag which holds 15 rounds(I'm sure you know). Yes, some people have had issues with reliability of those mags, but many say they've functioned flawlessly.
I have both the 43x and the 48 and love them both. Both of them have threaded barrels with the griffin micro compensators on them as well as flat faced trigger boots. I don't usually appendix carry unless I'm just going on a short errand so both carry equally well. With the shield arms magazines, these guns are my new staple. Previously I EDC'd my G19 most of the time, so this is a pretty big step up in comfort.
U said it and older guys with a belly and even young, can push the grip out and point that shorter slider back towards the body. 48 will have a bit more muzzle energy, will point better, and will recoil less.
Been carrying the 48 for about 4 years now. Carry on my 4 o'clock and I don't even know it's there. Drove from Tennessee to Texas a couple times with it and it never bothered me. The 48 just feels better and shoots better than the 43x to me and I like the longer barrel for just a bit more velocity.
Im 5'8 160lbs and I appendix carry my 48 surprisingly comfortably at 2-3 oclock with a cheap LAG IWB/OWB holster. even with my sight on. although I do have to remove my Tlr. light but Im mainly out during the day anyway so this doesnt bother me much.
As far as your comment on guys conceal carrying. JX tactical fat guy holster sits lower and is designed all go under your belt line. So when I am sitting the gun is sitting horizontal instead of vertical. Much more comfortable. And having a shorter barrel helps.
Grip size = print size for concealability, barrel size = comfort of carry. If you are woman, such as yourself that barrel isn't going to be pressing into something that men have. I love your channel and have shared it with my wife, who appreciates your delivery more so than men trying to explain EDC.
I found that my G26 carried better in a longer G19 holster. That's why, when it came time to choose between the 43X and 48, I chose the 48 and holster. The longer holster conceals better, so might as well go with the longer barrel.
Its about time someone in the youtube gun world has some sense. I never understood why the hell peope like the 43x over the 48 or 19x over a 17 or 34. For concealment purposes, they are essentially the same. Performance purposes they are not. Thanks Tessah. +1 sub.

Very interesting
Lady keep up the good work, I enjoy the quality of your content
I don’t understand why folks carry IWB at the 12 o’clock position. Worst place for an accident, difficult when seated, and it’s a difficult draw. IWB crossdraw at say 10 o’clock is much better. But I’m influenced by my torn rotator cuffs.
great delivery of the message. Super informative and points seemed very well thought out. Definitely gives me something to think about. Thank you.
@@johnnyringo2185yup since that comment I’ve sold my glocks and bought a shadow systems mr920 and that’s my edc now
I agree
Can you do a video or a short on how you sit without the 48 not poking into your leg/body?
This video will help with that! th-cam.com/video/Bvzn838p-Zg/w-d-xo.html
Exactly. Get a better holster.
Criminally underrated channel
Enjoy your videos-you are clear and well spoken-very nice work.
Thank for all you do. I have been thinking of the 43X or 48 recently. I appreciate all the content and the practical explanations you give.
Excellent. I have the 43X with an Agency match barrel and Agency compensator. But, now I want the GLOCK 48 just because I want it. I like your no nonsense fact giving video.
Both are great, but i still go with my 19 most of the time I'll switch up often but my 19s are always gonna be my favorite
I really haven’t shot it enough to provide enough of an update from my last video on it I’m sorry to say!
Love your perspectives always.
Best analysis I've seen to explain why I found the G48 more comfortable and concealable than the 43s and 365s.
I was so impressed with the 48, I bought a second one...Best of both worlds: flat, but a full sized Glock.
We have folks trading their 43x for a PSA Micro-Dagger. I don’t know how to respond to that.
A Renaissance AIWB with a built-in wedge (kydex covered, won't fray over time) and claw snugs the firearm both vertically and horizontally.
Thanks for another great vid!! Have you tried the Masada S ?
I have both, and can equally CCW both comfortably, and Im a small stature guy. 5-8 160 lbs.
Where was this announcement? Are you referring to a new Dagger model?
@@atranimecs Most likely is talking bout the dagger cause I’m on their site daily waiting for them ar v’s to come back n stock!😂😂
Still love my 43, even though it holds only 8 +1 with my mag extension. Shoots amazing
Compelling and logical discourse. Well done
I got both and prefer the 48. I love your g48 content. The 48 is so underrated
48 sucks, long live the 365!
🙄 Lighten up, Francis.
Newbie here. Starting out with the 48 MOS.
How bout the 48X? (48 slide on a 43 frame)
Wouldn’t that apply to the P365X versus the XL debate as well?
Yes!
Is the pain you're experiencing primarily below the belt where the muzzle interacts with your body?
Yes absolutely, I’ve tried moving it around, no luck. I’ve tried wedges of various sizes, no luck. My next guess before I spend money on another gun without knowing if it’ll fix the pain is I’ll probably buy a g48 holster to use with the 43x to see if that’ll help. Any holster recommendations? Or anything else you can think of for me to try?
@@kellyfloyd1953 That's exactly what I would recommend. You don't need to buy a whole new gun, probably just a new holster and likely moving the holster slightly higher on your body.
A couple of recommendations:
1) Make sure that you're placing your wedge on the lowest possible spot on the holster.
I saw that Polymer 80( I think) is coming out with a frame for the G48 but will accept P365 magazines.
did you install the 507k on it by yourself? if so did you use a adapter plate, looking for recs.
This topic is all about personal comfort. I carry a Glock 23 for CC or a Glock 48 if I'm wearing less clothes. The 48 is more comfortable but the 23 conceals fine for me in most situations.
Great rundown, thanks!
Just chop your 19 grip down to G26 length you won't regret it.
@@mikie1466 I use a g19 holster not a g19. Already using a g26 & 27 no need to chop a 19.
Thanks for making such an informative video. I've definitely been having problems with the keel principle with my Shield Plus, not to mention the hot spot on the lower edge of my pelvic bone.
Love the 48 too.. however rapid follow up shots are a bit difficult.. maybe I need to practice more?
Nice video as usual! I attacked the keel principle with a longer holster.
Dumb question
Need some help for my wife
It is difficult for her to rack the slide.
Any help is appreciated.
Not a dumb question at all! Here's a video I did on that a few years back: th-cam.com/video/GdEUSu0C694/w-d-xo.html
@@tessahbooth like two hours after this comment I saw your other vid
Thx much sis
Or you get the correct CUSTOM holster that has the ability to be adjusted where you can lower the holster so you get that added length and the grip doesn’t push out.
Dropping the holster deeper into the pants usually impedes access to the grip of the gun.
I couldn’t agree more on all fronts. I had been AIWB carrying a G17 for years by the time the 43x/48 came out. I decided to pick up a 43x to have something “more comfortable and concealable” for hot summer days/more fitted outfits. Ended up selling it in short order as it printed way more than my 17 😂
She just gave a bunch of great information thanks
What website was she using to get that “tabletop comparison” of two different handguns?
Handgunhero.com
Stumbled upon your channel and I gotta say I love the short and to the point videos
Have you looked at the new Kiger 9c from Anderson Manufacturing? I'd love to hear your impressions on how it compares to the Glock.
With this, wouldn’t the sig p365xl be a better choice than the p365x in your opinion for the same reasoning?
Yes! I talked about that in my video about why I chose the X over the XL, or standard!
I own and carry both! I would say as far as better goes, for carry, it depends where you carry. The longer the slide for appendix is worse. Well, at least in my case. As for any shooting differences, I am shooting the same group with both at yards ranging from, seven to twenty five.
If you’re driving for hours at a time, I’ve found cross-draw and shorter barrels to be more comfortable and easier access.
I like the Glock 48 a lot as well, currently it's my carry option though I switch from time to time. Good content!!
Wise choice. Glocks just don't make sense with all the better options out there.
Worrrd, this is all super spot on.
What about the 43x with a tlr7 sub so it’s a similar length as the 48?
it all makes sense, good video
handgunhero, I've already lost a lot of time on that 😅
Comfort... if so it should be very minute.
Those mags are gonna get you killed. I’ve had 3 different gen 2 mags and they have all malfunctioned before 100 rounds.
I seen a fellow have a 43 x with a 48 slide. 43 for concealment 48 for the range.
48 FTW!! Glad you brought up the keel principle. It's totally a thing.
As far as your comment on guys conceal carrying. JX tactical fat guy holster sits lower and is designed all go under your belt line. So when I am sitting the gun is sitting horizontal instead of vertical. Much more comfortable. And having a shorter barrel helps.
I just learned the Keel Principle. It explains why my G17 is more comfortable than a compact.
+1 sub.
