The ORIGINAL Allman Brothers Band was a force of nature that will never be replicated . Six uniquely talented individuals coming together to perform as one powewhouse unit...PLAY ALL NIGHT !!!
That is so true....no one since has been that good a band.....wish there was..... I'm old enough to have seen them play live three times before Duane passed....best band in the land
10/29/2024...My favorite vinyl, my favorite hippie, my favorite blues guitar, the first and greatest Southern Rock band...Duane's story is filled with so many emotions. I was unable to follow them after he died...I honestly don't think any of them were ever the same, they may have gone through the motions, BUT....
This outstanding in so many ways. I have been listening to the double album for 52 years. This recording is so great words are not enough. I can not thank you enough. THSNK YOU
Thanks to Southern Belle girlfriend who made me listen to and then dragged me to San Francisco Fillmore West in '71 also... turned me into a filled up ABB lifer!
First time hearing this show…man it’s 🎄day as far as I’m concerned….saw them in Sept. ‘71 saw them many times after but only once with Duane….Man Jaimoe and Butchie sound like the whole drum section of a college marching band…Berry on lead bass…the 2 guitars playing as one. We could never tell when they switched leads but when Duane put that bottle on his finger….fly away fly away…Greg that Hammond B3 with a Leslie….get the hell out! Thanks so much for sharin’ this show!!
I was only 13 when Duane died so I missed that classic era. Saw them several times in the late 80's, 90' and early 2000's. My best show was probably at Red Rocks in 2003(?).
I was playing guitar in a band at 16 years old & got me a gold top at 18. The first time I listened to Live At The Filmore, I was hooked for life. The Allman Brothers are without a doubt the most talented group of musicians I've ever heard. Dickey was my hero & caused me to spend countless hours each day learning ABB tunes. RIP Dickey, you're with Duane again. Let those harmony guitar licks ring forever! 😁
best american band of all time iam 7 7 years old i have been listen to them for a long time and been to there concerts and no other band can touch there live playing i miss them all
Oh, please... Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Grateful Dead, Van Halen, Metallica, etc. Just provincial nonsense-- "My band is the best" poppycock. There are times when one band or the other is in great form. No such thing as "The Best American Band."
I was at this show, it was one of the most memorable concerts I've ever experienced. This was their first NY appearance, and they were young gunslingers, they were there to impress. I felt bad for Arthur Lee and Love who followed them, who were a wonderful band in their own right. Sometimes a group has to follow a band who plays beyond all expectation. I had come to see the Dead who were as mesmerizing as always. When the stage crew started wheeling out extra amps and drums, we didn't know what was going on. When they walked back on stage we were stunned! Later Peter Green and Danny Kirwin walked out on the left side of the stage to play while Mick Fleetwood just stood and watched. When the show finally ended we walked out into the sunrise, cold and wintery, but we were just floating. I'll always remember that magical night...
You're the first person I've heard of at this concert. WOW! It must have been magic for everyone there. Thanks for telling us about your most memorable concert!
Love how much Duane would interact with the audience or the crowd. This guy was so full of confidence, Duane that is. He would even sing well at least one time I Hurd him sing just clowning around. Still amazing young as these guys were and they just had hit their stride around the time of Duane's accidental death. I think Greg said that Duane knew it that they had just about arrived. Sorry he didn't get the time to see it all unfold, well he might not had been there bug I'm sure he saw them performing outstanding this whole while, well guess you can say he's been there too!!!! RIP to all the brothers that crossed over.
Rip Dickey Betts. Your music and talents are gonna keep the fires burning in companion for us, your fans. Love the Allman Brothers Band. What a great upload. Thank u so much.
I find myself here on the day Forrest Richard Betts has departed this world at 80 years old. Truly a sad day, but after listening to this show I know these boys are destined to meet up in the after life. This music will outlive all of us... Word is they started the "Southern Rock" genre. I believe they're in a league all by themselves. They set an unattainable standard... Rest easy Brothers... 🍄🍑✌💙
Later on this night, Gregg, Duane, and Berry joined Grateful Dead for the Dead's late show, along with Peter Green & Danny Kirwan from Fleetwood Mac and Arthur Lee from Love. What an amazing time it must have been to attend this show. Here is the end of the set, not including the encore: th-cam.com/video/JsczuvKv-PU/w-d-xo.html
Any jazz fans listening to this who can share any jazz records that are as intensely ferocious as these guys were at the time? I can imagine that there must have been. I have heard a lot of '30s and '40s jazz that I'd say "really rocked!" But what else?
This is the best live recording I've heard aside from the official Live at Fillmore East. The sound quality is very good along with the song selections and their playing and tone was exceptional even for them. They were all outstanding musicians but Duane was 1 in 10,000,000.
I'm just trying to share the gigabytes of great music I've collected through the years. Plus, putting together these tributes to great music is a great way to pass the time. Right now Thailand's in a major heatwave so staying indoors with the AC on is about all I do during the day.
I have this on CD Feb 70 Fillmore East recorded by Bear one of the first Dead Brothers pairing and not the last love the precision playing on this show well recorded
Soo Many memories!! Couldn't count how many times we've seen them. BTW. If your an Allman fan you MUST visit their "Big House Museum" in Macon. Its where they wrote most of the biggest hits. Has their original notebooks with lyrics... "Highway 41" sign is right outside dinning room window inspiring Rambling man song. ALSO museum workers will direct you to Dwyanes grave which is right near the "Elizabeth Reed" grave which inspired the song. Also can view the railroad tracks and stream where the band members were photographed for those album covers. Couple hours off I-95 Well worth the trip!!. .
THE BAND BY WHICH ALL OTHERS MEASURE UP TO WHICH IS ROUGH CAUSE THESE GUYS WERE WAY AHEAD OF THE CURVE ESPECIALLY WITH THEIR FEVOR FOR INSTRUMENTAL JAMS SUCH A THIS # LIZ REED
to my knowledge this show was never filmed, if it was it would have come out on vhs or dvd. too bad as it would have been a great accompaniment to the lp or cd.

Needless to say, this band changed my life. Saw them at Chicago Amphitheater in '71. To this day, was the most amazing live performance ever.

You bet he saw it, not only did he see it, he was channeling through jamming with them all these years amping their energy, same as Berry. ❤
To play like that you have to be full of confidence

So neat to contrast this version with the more famous one from the double album Live at the Fillmore. Love the pics as well. What a powerhouse band!
Amazing band and an amazing concert. There's no band these days who can give the same spirit and atmosphere The Allmann Brothers did in their days.
Saw TheBrothers open for Mountain@
Stonybrook life was never the same!!!✌️😎
When I first heard this amazing amazing
Band .
I never been the same .❤ RIP Betts . I never have stopped listening . Food for my soul.
Amen Amen
BEST F-CKING BAND EVER! EVER !!!
Yes! Best live album too.
I agree.
I saw them at Fillmore E. in 70 & you 71, cudnt' get ENUF... blow your mind and soul guitars.. 🎸🎸🤦🏻♀️
They were incredible in early 1970. But just a year later they were much tighter, the groove was deeper, the swing stronger.
RIP Dickey Betts.

Bitches Brew, Miles Davis
Mahavishnu Orchestra’s Inner Mounting Flame came out in 1971. Nothing is more ferocious than that album. Nothing.
Miles Davis was backstage getting off on the Brothers everytime they came to NYC.

I really like this early version of " In Memory of Elizabeth Reed " with great guitar inter-play between Duane & Dickey! Great sound as well !
The day they played this concert is my 14th birthday. I wish now I‘d been there.
Nice listening to a life changing band. Thanks. Your channel is getting greater and greater.

Many of their hits were written in Rose Hill cemetery.
The Rose Hill cemetary is where they rest.

Gregg couldn't do it, Duane was a gift from the Gods
Currently there are 18 dislikes to the Allman Brothers Band video!
Why do Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber fans hate great music so much?😅
Dickie is a modern day Mozart
Soothing*force
Please do not compare either band they were different, but also Fabulous! no hate in comparison ❤
@2nd track, Hoochie Coochie Man, Gregg sounds like Johnny Winter.
That’s Berry Oakley, their bass player, singing lead on that song. But yeah, he does sound like Johnny.👍
@@renodavid Cool. Thanks.
Bobby caldwell on percussions

Yes that Florida connection they were good friends!!
Is this an Owsley recording? Sound quality’s better than the average bootleg
Yes, it's a very good recording.
It appears to be an Owsley recording according to Wikipedia.
Love and the Grateful Dead were also playing that night.
Wow, the Dead were playing too!
Must of been a Hell of a show!!
Great call! I didn’t notice that. Freaking great man. Well done.
Fillmore east always had exceptional sound system/acoustics 😊
Duane + Dickey > All Others
Just a suggestion for firstname lastname .... consider christian sirnayhem ....
thats not the Fillmore
That was the name on the audio file. Please explain. I can make corrections
I can only imagine the Dead, hearing this. For the first time, it is and the same insanity the Dead had. Insanely cool. But quit a bit different.
