I've been working on an alternative Show of Confidence deck using Goldspan dragon and Exponential Growth.
The combo would be cast Goldspan and attack, target goldspan with your buffs (thinking defiant strike, ranger guile and similar). Each buff adds to storm counter and gives back 2 mana in treasure token. Then if you cast Show of Confidence with just 3 storm it wil generate 6 mana meaning you can 3X Exponetial growth (including treasure from attacking with goldspan) for 3x doubling of power.
So in this example: Dragon + defiant strike on turn 6, 2 more buffs (defiant strike or snakeskin veil, dragon is 6/4 and you have 2 treasures (one from attacking), cast Show of Confidence with 2 copies, you now have 4 treasures and dragon is 9/7, X=3 exponential growth for the 4 treasures to make it 72/7 dragon (and a new treasure for a defensive spell)
Should be fun (sorry if my math is off)

A quick mockup of a potential decklist:
      4 Defiant Strike
      4 Snakeskin Veil
      4 Barge In
      4 Show of Confidence
      3 Magda, Brazen Outlaw
      4 Rimrock Knight
      4 Exponential Growth
      2 Sejiri Shelter
      2 Kazuul's Fury
      4 Showdown of the Skalds
      4 Goldspan Dragon
      4 Cragcrown Pathway
      4 Needleverge Pathway
      4 Branchloft Pathway
      3 Mountain
      3 Plains
      3 Forest
Magda and Rimrock are for ramping with treasures and for finding Goldspan if you don't draw it or find it with Showdown. Rimrock is also a 1 mana instant for storm/treasure when Goldspan is down.

Love it, you did great - I just started following you a while ago and have to say I really like the content you create. Thank you!
The decks seem fun to play, especially the demon fling deck - just the idea alone is so cool & creative, how fun it must be to win like that - or lose, if my opponent kills me like that I'd gonna laugh my ass of for how I just lost 😅
Love to have fun while playing, more important then to win ~

I'm up to my 90k for Strixhaven and am looking forward to getting my Black on - that Daemogoth Titan is delicious! I'm thinking Tend the Pests with Bastion of Rembrance and a Marauding Blight Priest with Kaervek as a bomb, though that's probably a bit too janky 🤔

The Lurrus Witherbloom Storm deck looks cool, but I don't think Lurrus adds enough to pull its weight as-is. Ups the Wildcard cost a bit, but Mavinda seems great in a deck that already wants to play Charge Through, Snakeskin Veil, Ranger's Guile and Show of Confidence and Sedgemoor Witch seems amazing with the plan of the deck. Theoretically, a non-budget Mavinda version would cut both Poison the Cup, both Mythos of Nethroi, 1 Cling to Dust, 1 Ranger's Guile, 1 Infuse with Vitality, and 2 Revitalize for 2 Bloodchief's Thirst, 3 Mavinda, 3 Sedgemoor Witch, and the fourth Charge Through to make Mavinda better and change the mana base to 4 of each GW/WB/BG Pathways, 3 Indatha Triome, 2 Fabled Passage, 2 Forest, 2 Plains, 1 Swamp [since cutting Poison the Cup ditches double black as a regular requirement]. That version might also want to cut the remaining 2 Revitalize for 2x Plumb the Forbidden due to how powerful it is with Sedgemoor Witch, but that's pretty greedy.
    Tangent:
On the Mono-U Expressionist list, I like what the deck is doing even if I recognize Archmage Emeritus and Elemental Expressionist are suspect in this Standard environment as 4 mana plays that don't accrue immediate value unless played off curve. That said, there's some elements of the rest of the deck that I think have something to them, particularly Multiple Choice and Divide by Zero. The pet deck of mine in the last format [UG Esika's Chariot] gained a lot from this set including those, so my "jank" [it's more like an unproven deck that's been very good for me but hasn't picked up steam anywhere] contribution is the following UG Learn/Chariot list, "Quandrix Driver's License":
    Main Deck: 60
    4x Esika's Chariot
    4x Wolfwillow Haven
    4x Mazemind Tome
    3x Brazen Borrower
    3x Divide by Zero
    4x Gnarled Professor
    4x Shark Typhoon
    3x Multiple Choice
    3x Decisive Denial
    2x Mythos of Illuna
    2x Koma, Cosmos Serpent
    4x Ketria Triome
    4x Barkchannel Pathway
    3x Cragcrown Pathway
    4x Riverglide Pathway
    3x Fabled Passage
    3x Forest
    2x Island
    1x Mountain
    Sideboard
    2x Mascot Exhibition
    2x Elemental Summoning
    2x Containment Breach
    1x Teachings of the Archaics
    [add for BO3]
    3x Chainweb Aracnir
    3x Negate
    2x Mystical Dispute

Great Decks, particularly like the fractal and fling decks... sadly with all the various removal, counter and hate spells being played I don't see them working very well unless you get a very specific matchup... those games however should be super fun so that might be worth it in the end.

I had enough wild cards to make 'Demon Fling'. While it is quite an interesting concept, it lacks the necessary support to get your key pieces in play to set off the jank. I tested it against Sparky and it lost every game. The deck did inspire me to look into other avenues for shenanigans involving daemogoth titan, tend the pests, bastion of rememberance, and pestilent haze.

Strixhaven is just depressing for standard. Its great for historic though.

    • @RandomPerson-mv8bn
      @RandomPerson-mv8bn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@J-Martijn i would lean towards saying that the state of standard at the moment is depressing, the power level so high that any remotely fun cards will never see any play since they simply aren't strong enough. i think that with the next rotation and no more high-powered cards coming in new sets, standard could be really enjoyable.
