I like the new approach to this channel.... I also really love your reviews of new cars because of your depth and care, but these are also really neat to watch! Great work
Hey Saabkyle, I've been subbed to your channel for several years at this point and I've always enjoyed your content regardless of what it was. I don't say that because I'm trying to be a 'fan-boy' or anything like that, but because I can tell that you really do put passion and genuine care into your videos. Just wanted to make sure you knew you have a long time fan here who's very happy with the way you run your channel, and looking forward to the future! Just like you, I have a special place in my heart for these older cars, and watching them come back to life like this is just awesome!
This brings back memories of my '94 S Blazer. I had it for about 6 years. I remember it would go through front brakes around every 10 thousand miles. It also needed a new central point fuel injection system after 5 years.
You should keep the old serpentine belt as a spare in the vehicle. I keep one for my 4.3 TBI in my toolbox in the back of my c1500. I once had the alternator freeze up following a snowstorm and it burnt the belt. Since then I keep a spare, haha
I've been a long time viewer as well since the early days, and I've said this in one of your 240 videos, I love seeing this diy content on the channel, and I believe it gives alot of viewers more confidence to tackle projects like this themselves, keep it up!
Thanks so much for your support. I agree, it's certainly giving me more confidence to try bigger and better things. Now, if we can just figure out the poor view situation, we'd be set!
Hey Kyle im glad that you have stuck to fixing that old Jimmy up. Not a lot of people like to rebuild cars like that anymore. But im glad you are. Its cool to restore old cars to the way they used to be. I like everything you have done to it. I know its not easy but im proud of you. I just got a 2001 Chevy Blazer LS a few weeks ago and ive had to do a few things to it but not a lot yet. But the good thing its getting to where i need to go so thats what matters. But i have plans for it that i think you would even like but anyway congrats on getting that old Jimmy restored. You sure are a hard worker. Keep up the great work Kyle. I hope i can meet you in person sometime. That would be awesome. Take care.
I've grown a pretty serious attachment to these things. While it might not be the most popular thing, it's certainly different. Thank you so much for your support and kind words. Let me know if you're ever around Winston Salem, NC! My email is (kyle@saabkyle04.com). Have a great day!
@@saabkyle04 Thank you Kyle you as well. And if you ever want to talk you can reach me on messenger. Im always around. Right now im just at work at Lariche Chevrolet and Cadillac. I really like where i work. But anyway take care Kyle and thanks again for replying to me. Your awesome. Have fun with the Jimmy.
Love the videos man! So glad to see you partnered with O'reilly's as well, ive been working there for near 4 years now and just happened to come across a little memo on a page at work saying they were partnered with you and instantly i said man its been a while but im going to watch this series! Take care and have fun! 😁
It's actually more beneficial to let a video play all the way through 😉 watch time means EVERYTHING to the algorithm. I wish it was still that simple. Maybe play them in the background while you do another task hahaha 😂 Thanks for the support my dude!!
You could really turn this Jimmy into a real sleeper with a good old LS swap! It’ll likely be one of a kind and give the Typhoon/Syclone some competition! I know there are quite a few LS Typhoons and Syclones already but I’m sure yours can be more special! 😉
That would be VERY cool! I'm trying to stick to somewhat of a "budget" for this one and prepare for a couple more projects to come soon. The first will be introduced Friday or Saturday! I don't doubt an LS will be in the future for at least one of them.
Here's the trick a mechanic friend taught me: Remove the fan bolts BEFORE loosening/removing the serpentine belt. ; ) Also; the coolant overflow tank works on gravity and siphon. Meaning it's not under pressure, so no hose clamps are necessary. There weren't any hose clamps installed from the factory. But you can't go wrong with the added security of installing them!
I recently something similar to this to my 95 corolla. Since I got the car over 2 years ago, I noticed some coolant stains but not visible leaks and the coolant level didn’t changed much over time until early this year. I began to notice it was losing coolant but no leaks. So, one day while inspecting the engine mounts which required replacement, I warmed the car to temperature and then took a careful look around and then noticed a small pool of coolant collecting down in the radiator body. Took the radiator out and discovered it was the original radiator y had been poorly repaired. Needless to say, I replaced it immediately along the with radiator cap, t-stat and seal, hoses and clamps. Also rebuilt the radiator fan with new brushes.
Your videos are soooo good!! I love how you get so in depth with everything. Me personally love the project videos. Cant wait to see that RB tho! Love your content, its high quality.
Hey saabkyle09! I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to start my TH-cam channel. Without you I never would have had this opportunity or idea.
I started studyin basic concepts of mechanics, i hope someday i have the pleasure of workin in my own car, just like you, must feel good to see that your own efforts are turnin something old, into almost new. Good luck from Brazil! :)
Be aware of the lower intake manifold gasket at some point. Common issue on Chevy's 4.3 V6 it will have the same symptoms as a blown head gasket but coolant will get in the oil and the engine will eventually blow. Happened to my S10 around the same year and same engine.
Another good thing to do is to save the old serpentine belt inside the vehicle some place. That way if for whatever reason the new belt breaks out on the road you can put the old belt beck on to get you back home. I also noticed you bought pre-diluted antifreeze. That stuff is a rip off. Buy the full strength and dilute it yourself when you get home. Pour half of it into an empty jug, then fill both jugs full with water. You now have two gallons of "pre-diluted" antifreeze for less than two gallons of the store bought stuff.

I'm planning on it! Just gotta reach out to some people regarding getting the cluster reprogrammed to match the odometer of the new Jimmy. It'll be intense, but the digital cluster is just way too cool to pass up haha.
S10s eat suspension and steering parts for lunch. You should do a steering and suspension video. That is a super clean ride. Around my neck of the woods everything rusts away.
I just did hoses rad and water pump on my blazer. My temp gauge didn’t work until I flushed the coolant if that tells you how nasty the coolant was when I bought it
Good job Kyle ! I love this truck and what you are doing with it. Also I cant understand what sort of idiotic mechanic folded the hose like that... I sure hope you get around to putting the digital instrument cluster in it as well.
What kind of oil catch pan was that? I like the little built in spout which would make dumping used oil back into the jug much easier than ones that don’t have that.
Serious question, if the original engine was a V6 and you engine swapt it to a V8, wouldnt the supreme belt go on diffeferent? And how would you know how it goes on?
