Myke, when I left your channel the other day - you had been on a tear. That is putting it lightly. I kid you not, you made it abundantly clear that you are no stranger to woodshedding. Time put in and so much natural ability to go with it bro. And that little lick, you don't know how much I appreciate that you even hear it. Man, I always feel like I've mixed shit way outta whack on these but I think you'll get this - when you use XTrax or Moises and get the original drums out, it's kind of fun to see if you can give an older song a different vibe with a harder hitting (IE - mixed way louder LOL!!!) drum sound. Man, I'm in this group where I guess it's safe to say it's odd in the best possible way musically. So all of the guys I first started playing with - this was THEIR era. And through them, I got to where I flat out loved it. The problem was when I started loving it, it was 1991 or 1992. All of a sudden, here comes Alice In Chains and I do remember they were a band that appealed to people who liked just good hard rock. But I did dig Nirvana. I dug Jane's Addiction. I dug Nine Inch Nails. My older friends did not. So, I slide into the 90s with a love for that era too. So I'm running around as this dude that somehow loves W.A.S.P., Hip Hop, Jane's Addiction and Johnny Cash LOL!!!! As for the partying, I can say I was pissed that had changed by the time I was 18. But, didn't take long and I figured out - there's always a party going on somewhere LOL! Donald, I hope you have an amazing weekend dude!!!

There are so many awesome comments below that I agree with Trey! This was so Good! I do not really know this song, but absolutely loved it. Powerful precise drumming. And your comments as well.....W.A.S.P. being edgy....ballsy and melodic. Sums them up very well. Great start to 2023.
They did have ALL of those qualities to my ears too man! The melodic side is on display in this one. More than usual. But it's melody that came with tons of hook, power and just attitude. From what I read, that tour they just wrapped up in the States sold out about anywhere it stopped. I just don't see them mentioned in the "greats" of the 80s and to me, that's OK. They had their own thing. RATT was another band I thought had their own thing going. Much lighter but unique. Both bands had a common thread in that they had singers with really unique voices. Appreciate you so much Robb!!!!

Ironically, he didn't even seem to like it that much himself because in its utter heaviness it sounded "too forlorn" or something. To me, hearing Battery for the first time was like religious awakening. I listened the ever-loving shit out of that tape.

Way, way back in my early college days I saw Steve Riley with LA Guns (not long after he left WASP), and he left it all on the stage that night. You just did the same, my brother; once again, you took the original (awesome) framework and added your own cool embellishments to the tune. And the showmanship is always on point- I loved the little right-arm sweep right before the second chorus! Happy New Year, and based on this, 2023 is going to be a fantastic year on your channel.
Riley is as underrated as they get. Dude can bring it and has in so many different bands. He's a blast to talk to as well. I can't call him a friend or anything but I've met him twice and he really was a very down to earth dude. We just talked drums and it was fun. The sweep move is entirely a Randy Castillo rip. My shoulder doesn't like it as much as it once did now (LOL!!!) BUT I love that under on the right and come over the left crash. Go get ya a drumset!!! Grab some earplugs and beat the hell out of em my friend!!! I do recommend using some form of hearing protection for anyone as I am the product of 4 live Marshall Cabs to my immediate right, 2 Ampegs to my left and a wedge on each side of me with vocals pushed to the max. Not to mention explosions going on in a number of different set ups (you could still do pyro in clubs when I was young). I've had significant hearing damage from all that and it was all preventable. BUT, probably wouldn't change anything. Keep me updated if you get a kit!!!!

WASP rolled through Florida not too long ago and them being on tour I thinks helps with the views. I am learning as I go on the recording\editing videos. Mostly learning from my mistakes LOL! So we are going to do something a little different today with my comment... because we all know what I think of your drumming. When you record with your GoPro's, do you stop each camera when you mess up and do another take? If you do, do you have some type of remote to start & stop every camera at the same time? Not only is the drumming always fantastic, but all the camera angles and video editing is always fun to watch; that's what is always lacking in my drum covers. Have a good new year, Trey!
Fuck no. I wish I had something that sophisticated. It's a hot mess in a lot of way Bryan. I start 'em and (more or less) they all run for about 30 minutes and then I'll shut 'em off and start over for the next take or the next whatever. When I say if I put up "outtake" vids that there would be possibly a week's worth of shit, I really don't think I'm lying. I don't stop until I get a clean take. So there are a shit load of "FUCK" and "SUCK A D%@!" and "WHAT THE HELL" and "I SUCK" moments. You have not seen rage like I can give when I'm within striking distance of the end of a song and have a stick break I can't recover. GOD that still makes me furious. I'll have In ear bullshit problems too.......it's a load of thing. BUT, what I do is just make a mental note of how long it took to get to the clean take and I'll find it on one of the Gopros. Then it's easy to find it on the rest. I hope that novel makes sense bro LOL!!!!!!

Guns and it was a trip to see him. Think that was '17? Not sure but he was still solid as hell. Visually fun and great meter. Seemed like a nice guy too even though I didn't get to speak to him much more than just casually.

Myke, when I left your channel the other day - you had been on a tear. That is putting it lightly. I kid you not, you made it abundantly clear that you are no stranger to woodshedding. Time put in and so much natural ability to go with it bro. And that little lick, you don't know how much I appreciate that you even hear it. I was trying to figure if I needed to credit Lars or Vinnie Paul. I remember Lars using variations of that throughout And Justice (that whole album just blew my mind before I could play) but then VP used it and it was cleaner and even harder hitting.

Man, I always feel like I've mixed shit way outta whack on these but I think you'll get this - when you use XTrax or Moises and get the original drums out, it's kind of fun to see if you can give an older song a different vibe with a harder hitting (IE - mixed way louder LOL!!!) drum sound. Man, I'm in this group where I guess it's safe to say it's odd in the best possible way musically. So all of the guys I first started playing with - this was THEIR era. And through them, I got to where I flat out loved it. The problem was when I started loving it, it was 1991 or 1992. All of a sudden, here comes Alice In Chains and I do remember they were a band that appealed to people who liked just good hard rock. But I did dig Nirvana. I dug Jane's Addiction. I dug Nine Inch Nails. My older friends did not. So, I slide into the 90s with a love for that era too. So I'm running around as this dude that somehow loves W.A.S.P., Hip Hop, Jane's Addiction and Johnny Cash LOL!!!!
As for the partying, I can say I was pissed that had changed by the time I was 18. But, didn't take long and I figured out - there's always a party going on somewhere LOL! Donald, I hope you have an amazing weekend dude!!!

There are so many awesome comments below that I agree with Trey! This was so Good! I do not really know this song, but absolutely loved it. Powerful precise drumming. And your comments as well.....W.A.S.P. being edgy....ballsy and melodic. Sums them up very well. Great start to 2023.
They did have ALL of those qualities to my ears too man! The melodic side is on display in this one. More than usual. But it's melody that came with tons of hook, power and just attitude. From what I read, that tour they just wrapped up in the States sold out about anywhere it stopped. I just don't see them mentioned in the "greats" of the 80s and to me, that's OK. They had their own thing. RATT was another band I thought had their own thing going. Much lighter but unique. Both bands had a common thread in that they had singers with really unique voices.

Having a gym at home is a game changer. It took me about year and half to get all my equipment luckily I bought it all before the pandemic hit. All the fitness prices exploded. Luckily now they have leveled out. I highly encourage home gyms. As drummers we need to stay in shape. Dude , I can’t thank you enough. 🤜🤛🤘🙏

In discussions I've had with folks from across a variety of backgrounds, I've tried to tell them that a drummer cannot fake who they are. Can't do it. @@TreyBDrums I first got my pudgy little hands on Master of Puppets as a nine-year-old when my older brother made of a copy of it on a cassette. Ironically, he didn't even seem to like it that much himself because in its utter heaviness it sounded "too forlorn" or something. To me, hearing Battery for the first time was like religious awakening. I listened the ever-loving shit out of that tape.

Way, way back in my early college days I saw Steve Riley with LA Guns (not long after he left WASP), and he left it all on the stage that night. You just did the same, my brother; once again, you took the original (awesome) framework and added your own cool embellishments to the tune. And the showmanship is always on point- I loved the little right-arm sweep right before the second chorus! Happy New Year, and based on this, 2023 is going to be a fantastic year on your channel.
Riley is as underrated as they get. Dude can bring it and has in so many different bands. He's a blast to talk to as well. I can't call him a friend or anything but I've met him twice and he really was a very down to earth dude. We just talked drums and it was fun. The sweep move is entirely a Randy Castillo rip. My shoulder doesn't like it as much as it once did now (LOL!!!) BUT I love that under on the right and come over the left crash.

Go get ya a drumset!!! Grab some earplugs and beat the hell out of em my friend!!! I do recommend using some form of hearing protection for anyone as I am the product of 4 live Marshall Cabs to my immediate right, 2 Ampegs to my left and a wedge on each side of me with vocals pushed to the max. Not to mention explosions going on in a number of different set ups (you could still do pyro in clubs when I was young). I've had significant hearing damage from all that and it was all preventable. BUT, probably wouldn't change anything. Keep me updated if you get a kit!!!!

WASP rolled through Florida not too long ago and them being on tour I thinks helps with the views. I am learning as I go on the recording\editing videos. Mostly learning from my mistakes LOL! So we are going to do something a little different today with my comment... because we all know what I think of your drumming. When you record with your GoPro's, do you stop each camera when you mess up and do another take? If you do, do you have some type of remote to start & stop every camera at the same time? Not only is the drumming always fantastic, but all the camera angles and video editing is always fun to watch; that's what is always lacking in my drum covers. Have a good new year, Trey!
Fuck no. I wish I had something that sophisticated. It's a hot mess in a lot of way Bryan. I start 'em and (more or less) they all run for about 30 minutes and then I'll shut 'em off and start over for the next take or the next whatever. When I say if I put up "outtake" vids that there would be possibly a week's worth of shit, I really don't think I'm lying. I don't stop until I get a clean take. So there are a shit load of "FUCK" and "SUCK A D%@!" and "WHAT THE HELL" and "I SUCK" moments. You have not seen rage like I can give when I'm within striking distance of the end of a song and have a stick break I can't recover. GOD that still makes me furious. I'll have In ear bullshit problems too.......it's a load of thing. BUT, what I do is just make a mental note of how long it took to get to the clean take and I'll find it on one of the Gopros. Then it's easy to find it on the rest. I hope that novel makes sense bro LOL!!!!!!
