hey i wanted to add that u can regulate temperature by putting water items far away when u have much fire items around or vice versa. it should be a closed room and the walls are either rock to metal or wood, connecting those parts of the room to boost the feng shui of the temperature equalizing elements

Yes, because wood creates bigger fires, so by that logic it boosts a fire cultivator. Same with every ither type, water rooms for wood, fire for earth etc.
A Display is always neutral element no matter what material you make it out of. So no, Display material doesn't matter*, you can make it out of marble, spirit stone, whatever you have on hand. *There are very small things material does even without element, like attractiveness, absorbing tiny amounts of qi, temperature, etc, but these things don't matter.

Is it even possible to get a Tier 1 Golden Core for your first Golden Core? I just keep getting Tier 7, even after I stuff them full of polls and medicine, and with a cultivation room.

you make the fenshui building of a X material and the walls and decoration of the material that beggets your fengshui building. for starters the best is iron fengshui building. except stoves and forges. and walls etc of marble. stoves and forges out of marble.
Spirit wood provides Qi Gathering to 4 range, but only spreads its element to 3 range. So you can use it on the squares that are Range 4 from the cushion without affecting the element of the cushion. Do not put spirit wood on Range 3 squares or closer though, as if it is Range 3 or closer it will affect the cushion's element.

No. The wall is far enough away from the cushion that its element doesn't matter. If for whatever reason you managed to build wall within 2 squares of the cushion, it should *feed* the cultivation law element.
I don't understand still how you're getting guys to quality 400k+ I got a guy to 255k GC quality and that was after getting the dude to 23k qi before breakthrough and having a room with high-end qi gathering.
23k before breakthrough is considered good for second generation (usually means Specter Refined Grade 12 medicines, all advanced law max qi / int / con / qi sense manuals). At this point look, make sure all your modifiers are +5 (season, weather, location qi/element, mental state, etc), or start using Grade 12 Cultivation Speed talismans to grow inner furnace. Depending on your first generation you may also have access to stat miracles or Grade 12 stat boosting drugs to be taken when your candidate is still an outer, to max out Int and Con. Or stat boosting may require a good second generation to boost the third generation. Look up Kurt's Sentient Spirits guide as it has the most complete list of GC factors in the third section. Obviously that guide goes way beyond the scale you're looking at but it walks through every possible factor.
Oh my god this makes me feel tremendously stupid. I didn't realise Qi gather range was counted like that! Who would program it that way? Jesus! This whole time, I thought Qi Gather range 2 literally meant that it would send Qi 2 spaces in each direction. I thought I had to surround my water cultivator's cushion with 24 units of Sage Fruit to maximise Qi density. Can you imagine? So many resources wasted... Instead of this... weirdness... I thought it'd work like how ranged units in a RTS game have range - if you have 5 range, you'll hit things 5 tiles away. Guess it doesn't work like that. This is both bad news and good news. The bad news - I have to restructure my entire sect, and I've essentially fucked up all 10 Golden Core breakthroughs I've done so far because I didn't know how Qi gather *really* worked. Would you believe I somehow managed to get 3 Core 1s even though I was screwing up everything? The good news - your cultivation rooms are MUCH smaller than mine. Because I'm only playing on Medium map size (a decision I regret immensely), each tile of space I can save is a godsend. If you understand the faulty logic I was operating under, I was using vastly larger rooms and easily 2-3x the number of high value materials to do a worse job at cultivating. I guess I'll have to move all 36 sect members out into ultra-high density housing in a corner of the map (I'll probably remove my graveyard), demolish my sect's buildings tile by tile, then put everything back together again - now spaced properly. Or not. Facing this kind of self-inflicted stupidity head on is killing my will to live. PS: I'm still shaking my head - my Water cultivator's room was going to include (minus the Sage Fruit) *49 Lumina cores*. I've run my Sect's rep up to 20k doing unnecessary adventures and barely hanging on the edge of survival when I could have done easily 3x less, got better Golden Cores, and easily thrashed all opposition instead of holding on for dear life.
And not once was it actually explained why any of this was being done -_- didn't open the element screen at any point, explained about fuck all other that "glue rocks to it"
If the stump is still there the stump still has Gather Qi. If you cleared the stump then whoops, but it's fine you don't need the huge ginkgo to make a perfectly good cultivation room.

You can put a roof - in fact it will be automatically built when you seal the room. Just don't build floor on the ginkgo tree's tile.

you can assign the cushion to a cultivator, or you can temporatily demolish the bed when you want to use it if it is a bug. this game is very buggy.
What about the mats for the displays? Do we make it with the same element of the law or element that supports the law?
Display stands have no element no matter what they're constructed of. So you can use any material.
