    Hi geofatboy, this is my daily driver too. After all the good reviews on the Rockwell 6c, I bought one. It's good razor but I still prefer my Merkur Progress short. Just a closer, engaging and more comfortable, irritable free, enjoyable shave 3-2-1. Easy to adjust and a great size to take on holiday too. Works for me fine with a Gillette silver blue or an Astra green blade. It's really the only razor you ever need. 😊

    ...a quick tip...I keep the top cap pressed down when I screw it in and out just to ease the pressure of the spring, and so (hopefully) prolong the life of the thread...just my 2 cents...thanks geo 👍

    This is my go to - but really aggressive for me. I have to effectively dial it down to the lowest setting. Would be great to get a tutorial on how to clean and maintain! Also do others also deal with the infamous misalignment of the blade on this?

    • @michaelhayward7572
      @michaelhayward7572 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mines either a 2019 or 2020 model. Never ever been misaligned.
      I believe they redid the moulds in 2016-17? because of the problems you mention, where the old moulds just wore out.

    I notice you nicked your chin a bit and the alum had trouble stopping the bleeding. I'm going to say that's very much the Feather blade being responsible. I was told my Matt at Razor Emporium that the Feather blade is slightly wider than other blades and that's why it can be such an abrasive/cut prone shave in many razors. I've used it and it is wicked sharp and causes me much irritation even when dialed down the lowest setting in a Rex Konsul. (A Feather is so sharp you don't need to dial it up for any reason in any adjustable razor.) Try a Wilkinson Sword or Permasharp next time in the Merkur Progress and see how it does. They are sharp enough to plow through any heavy growth and smooth enough to get you BBS without a lot of razor burn.

    One thing i will mention ref the new Progress razors which disapoints an old man with failing eyesight like myself - Merkur - sort out deeper and more legible numbers on the bottom.please! Even charge another Dollar to put some paint in them like originals from 50 years ago.
    And no, i dont want an Opgress/Mergress whatever with better numbers. I like my faux ivory plastic thanx very much.
    Great vid as per Geo.

    • @geofatboy
      @geofatboy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally agree Michael. They also changed the arrow and line on the head and made it smaller, now it's much more difficult to tell if you've aligned them properly. Plus-the Opgress knob doesn't have any numbers on it.

    I used this razor this morning. I haven't used it in years, and I used to cut myself with it often. I have been shaving for more than 15 years and have had a wonderful shave, so if you're cutting yourself with a good razor like a Merkur, it is your skill level, not the razor. I had a similar experience with my Rex Ambassador razor when I first bought it.
