  • Welcome to my overview of Hive Life 2023!
This year, I did it right and spent some time visiting vendors and showcasing some brand new products. See the faces behind the products.
Learn about Hive Life Here: www.hivelifeconference.com/
This is a long video, so I've broken it down by time-stamps below:

01:46:10 Bohemia Apiary & Castle Hive innovation for identifying queen status, and more.
01:48:52 Hill Co LLC, Top quality extractors, details and pricing.
01:57:35 Dale McMahan of Apis Engineering. Top Quality queen insemination equipment and grafting gear for discerning Pros.
02:06:52 Fuzzy Nuggets, unique Child-Sized hives that kids can lift and tend.
02:13:02 Yappy The Bee Man shows up with Frank, his juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk! Catch the complete story on the Nature's Image Farm TH-cam Channel.
02:13:57 Revolutionary Hives, feeder for large and small mouth mason jars. Inside the hive or outside open feeding. IMPRESSIVE.
That's IT. Thank you for watching! I think Hive life is at the perfect size. Larger wouldn't be better. I think Kamon Reynolds has achieved the perfect balance of vendors and attendees. The climate was overwhelmingly positive, and I heard no complaints.
If you are at all interested, I suggest getting your Hive Life Tickets for 2024 as soon as they are available. This year, the waiting list was in the hundreds. Vendors sold their inventories, Guests found everything they wanted and more. There was something for everyone, no matter what your beekeeping level is.

extractors are such a rip. They could easily make capping spinners and frame extractors the same unit, but instead keep them separate to double profits which also means they take up double the space.

The shows in Oregon were the best ever. We found buying honey in the jar with the wax hive is cheap then the full jar of honey. The kids had found it cool but my daughter after the honey was gone she started a hobby doing birthday candles and chapstick. So we have even traded what she has made for more jars the same way with our honey keeper. But he's a big farmer also so he's a very busy king of his life.

This is an awesome video Fred as always. I prefer your interview style and how you review fairly with no bias.. So much to say about this video but will just mention the upper ventilation. Totally agree, Bees only need one ventilation and that is their entrance, The amount of bees going in and out and all them thousands of bees expanding and contracting when they breath makes the bee hive work like a pair of lungs through the entrance, Its almost like a living organism in itself. When ever I do bee rescue jobs there is always just a tiny crevice and every thing elses is sealed with propalis. To much ventilation in winter leads to dead outs. I wish more bee keepers would understand this point. Sadly most new bee keepers learn the hard way and it can be a very expensive lesson. Anyways Top marks for this video. and thanks for sharing.

Great Video and interviews. The last three years I have lost all my hives(3-4), even purchased a NUC last year, that went into winter very strong. This year I'm buying two packages then work on creating nucs then go into winter with multiple single brood box hives. I'm going to look into the sea salt thing. As a side note I take water lilies out of the pond each spring and containerize them, the one in a stainless steel container and is the only one the bees drink water from.

Hillco origins, I'm not sure. Yes on the Bee Buffet, I will be using them in spring and they will replace my yellow feeders for all of my future product/water/supplement testing. They have a great, and very original design there. I'm an instant fan of the Bee Buffet.

I love the guardian bee pants and jacket with the hat veil. I also have a medium suit but I find it heavy and couldn't get a good fit. The small was to small the medium is to large. I'm always pulling it forward and ended up wearing a belt to keep it in place. I have the pro veil on the suit and wear a baseball cap to keep it off my face. When bees are in a "mood" I wear one of these outfits. When they are nice I just wear the jacket.
