they were running 300hp but ithink mazda was planning a awd turbo fc but since group b was banned the fc stayed n/a but the awd did get put in and boi was it fast
The top cars reached 600 bhp but they where 4wd, This car is rwd, most rwd group b cars generally had 270-360 bhp (bmw m1 430bhp ). Mazda had plans for group S with a 4wd car that was going to use a 3 rotor engine.
@@vintageman91 well you see the thing is they said 600 or so but that was a bold faced lie to trick competitors the truth is some of the cars actually reached much higher then that audi was gonna build a 1000 hp qauttro but scrapped the idea since the drivers said it was impossible to drive even on a hill climb let alone downhill and would only really work on a circuit track with a steep incline

Little wonder MRTE went nowhere with the group B RX7 in those glory years unlike the group A 323 Turbo which at least won Sweden and one or two other WRC events.

That how i used to drive my 1980 sa22 series 1 rx7 in the 90s here in West Auckland ,New Zealand most of the time,i had swapped it for my Mk 2 escort 1600 sport that i put a 2 litre ohc in and the rx7 was worlds apart in handling and driving feel but would eat diffs and axles just like the escort, they were cheap car back then ,now be lucky to find a old rx7 for less than 20 k nzd .

None of the cars have ever competed in the wrc with more than 700bhp and only the Quattro and a couple of others in 86 could go over 600 and that was only for short periods or they'd have a cooked engine or transmission/diffs, turbo, etc. Full boost every group b car putting out more than 550 would have melted the pistons on the 1st stage, if the transmission wasn't destroyed on the start line of the 1st stage. If you wanted a 650bhp Quattro then it was only briefly now and again, the group b cars were famously fragile. When Russell Brookes was interviewed about the brand new sport Quattro s1 on its first outing with Michelle mouton in 85 on the manx when asked if he was worried about the new Quattro Brookes just said "no it'll blow up" and it did, the rwd N/A opel manta won the event. ? how do come to that conclusion? it was a very good rally car, no less a brilliant rally car than the porsche 911 was or the sunbeam tiger. Both of those were rwd sports cars and very successful rally cars also.
2:14 well thats one way to take that turn...
lol
Reverse entry to the max lol
And it was quite good actually
That was the first reverse turn no one actually did!
We the gamers cam way too late
That's not where the car was supposed to go. It clearly tried merging back onto the rally course.
