A very not well known fact is this film is based on a Japanese manga called "All you need is Kill". The suit getting stuck on Japanese during the first storm of the beach is a nod to the origin of the story I believe. Side note: this is easily my favourite Tom Cruise film.

41:41. 1 thing people are often confused about at the ending of the film is that because Cage/Cruise & J Squad launched their attack several hours BEFORE the entire surprise invasion took place, & Cage got covered in the Omega's blood he was able to regain the ability to rewind time 1 day again like when he got covered in the Alpha's blood at the beginning. So, when he went back 1 day this time he ended up in the helicopter since that's where he was several hours before waking up in the military base, but because the Omega died all of the other Mimics were weakened as well, Cage was able to restart the day but the Mimics stayed weakened. Finally, if Cage ever dies again he'll restart the day since he still has the Omega's power, unless he gets a blood transfusion again then he'll lose the power for good.

@@elite_rock_god2292 My understanding/theory is that the blood allowed Cage to reset like we saw before but the Omega is still dead and thus cannot reset. For the Omega, the ability to reset is this innate thing it can do, like breathing is for us, and the blood is simply what grants humans the ability to turn back time as well. But unlike humans, it's not an automatic thing that happens when it dies and the Omega still needs to be alive and consciously choose to turn back the day. The reason it works slightly different with humans is because we were never meant to have the ability and it just doesn't work with our biology the same way it does with the Omega. Rather than being something we always have or know how to do, we acquire it like a disease, a foreign pathogen that our body doesn't know how to utilize. It's not something WE can consciously choose to activate because we don't have the facilities to do so. But the Omega would.

It's like saying it's not original, because other alien movies exist. The combinations of genres is what makes it original, with no other movie having a plot quite like it

The Omega has the ability to rewind time 1 day when an Alpha dies, & they use their knowledge from the previous version of the day to fight off humans the next time they encounter them. Well, if you think about it, the very 1st time the humans launched their surprise attack on the Mimics, they probably almost won until 1 of the Alphas died, then the Omega restarted the day that 1st time. Ever since then, the humans were less & less successful at fighting the Mimics to the point where this to the Mimics could've been their 100th, their 500th, or even their 1,000th time fighting the humans, & the human invasion was soon failing as we saw here. If Cage/Cruise hadn't killed the Alpha at that 1 moment then eventually the Mimics would have been able to reach a point where they could have beaten the humans so easily that no Alpha would've died & they would have won/conquered The U.K. for good.
He became the Omega. He can now choose to reset the day or get a blood transfusion and die old with Rita. His name is based on the original character from the manga, keiji and it fits him perfectly. 10/10 film
i love this movie, but the dumbest thing of this whole movie to me is, that they just dont want to believe that the enemy can controll time. Its a whole ass alien race that came to our planet who knows from how many lightyears away, but the thought of them being able to controll time is too science fiction for them haha

Talking about meteors and stuff at the start, you should watch Armageddon which is a movie about a meteor coming to hit the earth that they have to stop. It’s really good, one of my favourite movies of all time.
Although not confirmed outright it’s highly theorized cage lived through several years of the one day time loop during this movie. Officially it’s 24-26 days looped, but it’s alluded to throughout the movie it has been much much longer than that

For those who are confused about why the end he went back to the 1st day again, the hint is: 1 day sleep reset. Remember: 1st day is when he first time met the general. 2nd day is when he met sergeant, J-Squad and killed the omega. 3rd day Beach landing. So when he got killed on the beach landing day (3rd day), his time was reset to the 2nd day. And when he finally kills the omega and absorbs her blood, Cage is able to automatically reset the time to the 1st day.
