Just before the song released, Scott and Kevin did separate live streams about the album and songs. Both of them commented that this was one of the most challenging and difficult arrangements they've ever done. Plus the sections of Scott and Mitch together gave totally gave me Superfruit vibes - their voices are just fabulous together - add in Kirsten and it's heavenly.

Scott released a TikTok a few days ago him practicing his part for the 12 days of Christmas. It is insane. I guess he just has to sing it a million times until muscle memory kicks in because it seems so disjointed. Worth the watch...no need to react

DJ, we told you, we told you it would blow your mind! LOL And you made us wait forever!!! This was by far my favorite of theirs and I would not be surprised if "grammy talk" started over it. I got "Narnia vibes" from the video, I was looking for the lamppost, but then Mitch opened his mouth and the world fell away and that was left was his angelic voice. I loved when Celine Dion and Josh Groban did this, and it's hard to compare the 2, but this is definitely my favorite PTX song/video. Mitch and Scott just naturally sound amazing together, people get shocked by Scott's solid Baritone, but I don't think they really realize the range he has and what a fantastic singer he is, he just performed at Carnegie Hall a week and a half ago. Kirstie and Mitch volleying back and forth, perfection! There is nothing but wonderful, lovely ear candy in this whole song. And the fact that they're crossing Pop and Opera and bringing it to the masses is just another plus! Loved your reaction, can't wait for the next!!!

Absolutely stunning work from every single member! Grammy #4 is what we just heard! Andre & Celine will be proud! I also enjoy Celine’s duet withJosh Groban! THIS is now my favorite. Mitch soaring with chromatic runs & Scott’s strong baritone Italian!

Every time I hear one of their covers, it reminds me musically of a Disney classic (from back in the day when they were so well done).
Listen to the last minute of the song with your eyes closed and picture it in a Disney animated movie.

This is a beautiful video. Beautiful rendition of this song - The Prayer. Giving a message of hope for us all. Pentatonix never disappoints. All five of them are masters of their craft - individually and collectively. For this song there was skillful choice and perfect placing of each member in the arrangement. Mitch at the start and throughout owned this song with conviction, vocal clarity, the notes he hits and holds, his runs, his vibratos, his timing and his precision. Scott with his operatic presentation strong and convincing in linguistic detail. Kirstin with her belting power notes. Matt on the consistent bass undertone. Kevin on the strong and well-timed vocal percussion. The rich vocals, the solos, the duets, the tones, the call and response, the layering, the harmonizing, the wall of sound, building to the crescendo and then the clarity piercing through again. Superb performance by Pentatonix. A capella at its very best. They deserve a Grammy for this.

Seriously tho, being a bit of a Mitch freak, getting to hear him duet with Scott then Kirstie while singing angelicly thruout…beautiful! HI DJ! So good to see your reaction to this one. This song is so amazing, that I actually bought the Evergreen CD and have been playing it on my daily commutes to and from work. I haven't bought a CD in over 20 years. I am not a Christian, and I hate Christmas in general (the commercialization) but I grew up singing in choirs and I love Christmas music. I know, so weird. This has to be my favorite Pentatonix Christmas album.

Please do 'Come Along.' It's just so quirky and weird, and I love it. Every time I hear it, I think something like, "Do you want the Wild Hunt? Because this is how you summon the Wild Hunt." The original by Cosmo Sheldrake is even weirder, but I love the layers and effects of the Pentatonix version.

Love your reactions. I would love to hear each member separately because I'm sure what you say is right on the mark. But the best we can do is try to follow just one throughout...not very easy, to be sure. I did try to concentrate on Matt this time through, and, Wow! His support is crucial to the sound without a doubt. No need to mention Kevin, who just seems to exceed all boundaries for mere mortals.

Does it make me a bad person if I judge people by how they react to Pentatonix? Not every song or performance. Just certain songs and particularly certain notes. Mitch at 2:18 for example. If you know pause, remark, smile, drop your jaw, roll your eyes or ha e some indication that you heard or felt the majesty of that moment. Sure some get thru it and make complementary remarks which is fine. You be you. I just make mental notes of those who hear it and have a visceral reaction because you are my people ✌️💚

Evergreen has, this year, been nominated for a Grammy. Thankfully! They deserve it far more than the other artists nominated. Hearing Mitch live is just 😲 and then some. Last year was absolutely astounding hearing so many of the new and old songs and this year was like I was a kid in the PTX library and could pick ooooollllddd songs! I feel like Mitch's voice can literally be so light and angelic and embody Celine Dion. The video is set just right for this song.

I love watching your reactions. When Pentatonix was on the SingOff, the judges wondered how much new stuff or "tricks" they had left and they have certainly entertained us with their ability to change things up, just when we think we 'know' them. I appreciate their arpeggiations that sound so often like the plucking of the strings of an instrument. But in this performance, their beginning was different and the background singers sounded like delicate sound ripples across a musical pond instead of the string-plucking. It was the perfect fit for this song and I love being amazed all over again!

The song was written by David Foster, and Carol Bayer Sager. It was in the movie Quest for Camelot, an animated movie. The best known version was sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Josh Groban also sang it, I think with Celine Dion.
This arrangement and performance is just stunning. I really can't think of another group (including Ben Bram their producer in this) that arranges better. They have been arranging at an extremely high level for 10 years now. For whatever reason they just understand how to do it effectively.
At about 2:50 they hit that huge chord and it just sounds like an organ.

Did you notice that the setup for the song made it seem that the lyrics would start with Kirstie singing, by making her disappear behind a tree, but it was Mitch that reappeared and started singing. Anyone who knows the vocal range of Mitch would expect this, but the deception (too strong a word, but no other word is accurate to this situation) is aimed at someone familiar with the Dion / Bocelli version but is NOT familiar with Pentatonix.

You didn't have to blur this. If you're critiquing it (along with talking through it and pausing video at times) it's fair use. And your window overlapping the video's window is enough to counter a copyright claim for good measure, too.

The original song was written by David Foster and Carol Bayer Sager for the 1998 animated film ‘Quest for Camelot’.

Look forward to Tonix Tuesday every week. I have a question the copywrite blur. I asked another TH-camr about it because some of her videos stop for a few seconds saying copywrite will be right back, others TH-camrs theres no pause at all, or like yours the video is blurred. She said she's still trying to figure that out. Thoughts??

Please check out The Bass Gang. They are an acapella group made up of 4 bass singers their cover of Emperor's New Clothes has a 17 year old (Marwan Ayman) hitting B0.

I don't understand why yours got blurred. I have seen many other reaction channels do this video and they didn't have to blur their's. It just seems weird to me how some channels can show the video and some channels can't.

Great reaction to a beautiful cover ! I want to encourage you to go down another rabbit hole... react to Mat and Savanna Shaw. A Father and daughter duet. Their first song was The Prayer. It came out at beginning of pandemic. They've gained a huge following for good reason !! If you haven't heard them... I promise it will touch you !!! Newer subby to your channel !!!

The irony of your Celine Dion comment is she did the original...along with Andrea Bocelli.

PLEASE, React MARILIA MENDONÇA- PASSA MAL (TODOS OS CANTOS). She died earlier this month in a plane crash, she was only 26 years old.TODOS OS CANTOS is a project she did, she went to ALL the capitals of Brazil to give a free concert to fans who couldn't afford to buy tickets for her concerts. She is very dear in Brazil.

Is the vibrato someone has to try to do? Cause, I have to try to not do it usually. I got yelled at for it in choir. XD

Funny that you mention Disney - the song is originally from the Disney movie Quest for Camelot! And yes, the iconic version was a duet between Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli - here, Mitch and Scott. I love what you said about their musical support for each other. My husband and I think the last high note was actually Kevin at the very top, in his crystal-clear falsetto - what do you think?

It wasn't Kevin. Scott gave a short interview about the song. A part I thought was the trio was just Scott and Kirstin. It was in a live on his insta.

Not Disney, actually. It was Warner Bros Feature Animation, released in 1998.

Nope. It was Mitch. You can see him singing it, and he shows his brilliant control of the high note by singing it with a straight tone - soooo difficult!

It's strange. Their voices are stunning as always and the harmonies perfect.
But this song has never caught on with me.
