The Rock Bottom episode scared me as a kid since I was afraid of what would happen if you took the wrong bus. As a child I couldn't comprehend how you can just take the bus in the opposite direction or walk back etc, I really thought you'd be stuck there forever.

I completely agree with when me , My uncle my age and my brother watched the hash -slinging slasher episode in 2012 we were so scared that me ,my uncle my age and brother we slept in me and my parents cars I had slept in my blue 1998 Nissan Sentra Manual transmission my Brother slept in my Mothers Black 2005 Toyota Corolla Automatic Transmission my mothers car at the time and my uncle my age slept in my Father’s/ Grandfather’s Black Isuzu Suv their car at the time and we slept in the cars for 12 days that is how scared we were of the hash slinging slasher episode at that time

Honestly for some reason the scariest spongebob episode has always been sd-128 or whatever its name is, you know, in the future, everything is chrome, I don't know why but its always been so unnerving, when squidward gets stuck in another dimension its so creepy, those weird places where there's no end and all, that entire episode is messed up, just like rock bottom, there's almost just, no happiness in them, for example in the first 2 there's some happiness, spongebob being happy, laughing, at the first one it ends in laughter and its all good, but rock bottom and the future one they just have nothing to them, its just liminal spaces and this sad aura

3:10 i think i remember the VA of squidward saying that he deep down loved spongebob as a friend but he doesnt show it. This makes sense in some episodes with their friendly rivalry and the fact that the older episodes kinda show squidward just mildly tired at spongebobs actions compared to todays episodes where he downright feels like HATES him.

I believe that this one clip is ACTUALLY the scariest SpongeBob related thingymabob whatever ya call it, and the clip I’m talking about is in an episode called “SpongeBob in randomland”, which is in my opinion a great episode. The episode starts off with the phone ringing. When they pick up, the person on the phone says they have a delivery to randomland. SpongeBob and Squidward walk random directions to end up in randomland, which puts them in a bunch of wacky scenarios such as limbs not being in the right spot, stuff like that. They try making a delivery to a house, it’s not the right one. But, the person still takes the delivery, which leads to a chase scene. When they catch up to the person, the person puts a door in front of themself. Now I’m starting to get to the clip, so keep reading. In the middle of nowhere, the door multiplies into a bunch of doors. Squidward try’s opening the first 2 doors which lead to spooky looking versions of SpongeBob and squidward. But, the third door is different. (this is only in the UK version) but the 3rd door leads to squidwards room. The next second, you hear a gunshot, which cuts the room to static, jump scaring you with red mist squidward. If you wanna watch this clip, you can search for “red mist reference in SpongeBob”. There was two of the scariest episodes in my childhood which makes this list to me look ok. The first being the episode that SpongeBob gets hurt so much that forces him to go into quarantine with a chip, napkin, and a used tissue. He ends up seeing all the fun that everyone has and wants to go but he holds back the urges and stays inside, later on in the episode, I forgot exactly what happened, but I remember there was Patrick with an ice cream and is with sandy. This felt normal until there’s another Patrick, but he’s in a gorilla costume and he’s the real one which leaves the other Patrick. The normal looking Patrick unzips himself and reveals a guy in a gorilla costume and he absolutely destroys sandy, Patrick, and SpongeBob before he rides off into the sunset on a zebra. I remember as a kid, this was horrifying and it wasn’t normal to see such things happen to them which made me avoid this episode everytime. The other one wasn’t really on purpose. I think the episode was about SpongeBob and squidward getting lost and I always watched the episodes when they came out but when I watched this one, it wasn’t as good. There was a scene where they opened doors to try to escape until they open one with a blood mist squidward which was replaced with an ugly looking squidward. When it happened, it was not really scary, just unexpected as I had seen that stuff before but I eventually learned that it was not supposed to be in there and it was an accident. This were the scariest in my opinion.
Squidwards Tiki Land | It was a good episode, but something about those huge Tiki statues jumping around loudly always scared me as a kid I think it was just a fear of the fact they're inanimate objects that can basically crush or eat you alive
I'm kinda surprised the episode where SpongeBob and Mr Krab thought they offed the health inspector isn't here, that episode genuinely terrified me when I was younger, even the opening of the episode is quite unsettling
What’s funny is in a later season when mr krabs try’s to get rid of squidward because an artist told him the value would increase if the artist was not in the picture anyways they send squidward to rock bottom to deliver a meal and he was just as scared as SpongeBob witch is funny because when he delivers the food SpongeBob was there with the same person from rock bottoms and it was the fishes apparent birthday it’s a funny twist because it mean he visted rock bottom after that episode and made friends with everyone down there to the point where they invite SpongeBob to there birthday
Idk the exact name, but the episode where plankton controls SpongeBob from his brain, the “shut your mouth you mediocre clarinet player” one. I watched it when I was like 3-4 years old with a fever, and I have trypophobia and all the holes in SpongeBob were unsettling. The lack of light and darker colors made it seem like a fever dream, lmao. Also this was when I lived in my grandfather’s house (family drama that I won’t go into) so yeah.
I can see why you put it in first, but personally, I'd put Spongehenge in first place. Obviously, the events of Rock Bottom are creepy, but at the end, we get a sense of closure where we know SpongeBob has been safely returned to Bikini Bottom (and Patrick will likely come back as well), whereas Spongehenge has this sort of non-ending that leaves what happened while he was gone purely to our imagination. Rock Bottom is more scary in the moment, but then it's over and everything's okay; Spongehenge leaves the viewer with a sense of existential dread that we can't truly stop thinking about.
Out of these episodes, i'll choose Graveyard Shift. I absolutely adore this episode so much, not only because of Nosferatu in the ending, but also, because it's had a dark excellent plot, SpongeBob and Squidward dynamic worked, the Hash Slinging Slasher story it's too scary yet very good, and plus, it's from the classic seasons. And bedsides, this episode also have some sequels like "The Night Patty" and "Squidferatu", which these episodes are fantastic too.

The bus is probably a Coach, a type of bus that travels long distances, they can operate in day and night depending on schedule, and the "Spatula Monster" was probably from a different town far from Bikini Bottom.

Honestly, sb 129 is one of the best and scariest spongebob episodes. The idea of being alone in the middle of nowhere is a thought you never think about, and squidward is the perfect showcase in this episode of what being alone can do to a human.

Honestly for some reason the scariest spongebob episode has always been sd-128 or whatever its name is, you know, in the future, everything is chrome, I don't know why but its always been so unnerving, when squidward gets stuck in another dimension its so creepy, those weird places where there's no end and all, that entire episode is messed up, just like rock bottom, there's almost just, no happiness in them, for example in the first 2 there's some happiness, spongebob being happy, laughing, at the first one it ends in laughter and its all good, but rock bottom and the future one they just have nothing to them, its just liminal spaces and this sad aura

I believe that this one clip is ACTUALLY the scariest SpongeBob related thingymabob whatever ya call it, and the clip I’m talking about is in an episode called “SpongeBob in randomland”, which is in my opinion a great episode. The episode starts off with the phone ringing. When they pick up, the person on the phone says they have a delivery to randomland. SpongeBob and Squidward walk random directions to end up in randomland, which puts them in a bunch of wacky scenarios such as limbs not being in the right spot, stuff like that. They try making a delivery to a house, it’s not the right one. But, the person still takes the delivery, which leads to a chase scene. When they catch up to the person, the person puts a door in front of themself. Now I’m starting to get to the clip, so keep reading. In the middle of nowhere, the door multiplies into a bunch of doors. Squidward try’s opening the first 2 doors which lead to spooky looking versions of SpongeBob and squidward. But, the third door is different. (this is only in the UK version) but the 3rd door leads to squidwards room. There was two of the scariest episodes in my childhood which makes this list to me look ok.
The first being the episode that SpongeBob gets hurt so much that forces him to go into quarantine with a chip, napkin, and a used tissue. He ends up seeing all the fun that everyone has and wants to go but he holds back the urges and stays inside, later on in the episode, I forgot exactly what happened, but I remember there was Patrick with an ice cream and is with sandy. This felt normal until there’s another Patrick, but he’s in a gorilla costume and he’s the real one which leaves the other Patrick. The normal looking Patrick unzips himself and reveals a guy in a gorilla costume and he absolutely destroys sandy, Patrick, and SpongeBob before he rides off into the sunset on a zebra. I remember as a kid, this was horrifying and it wasn’t normal to see such things happen to them which made me avoid this episode everytime.
The other one wasn’t really on purpose. I think the episode was about SpongeBob and squidward getting lost and I always watched the episodes when they came out but when I watched this one, it wasn’t as good. There was a scene where they opened doors to try to escape until they open one with a blood mist squidward which was replaced with an ugly looking squidward. When it happened, it was not really scary, just unexpected as I had seen that stuff before but I eventually learned that it was not supposed to be in there and it was an accident.
This were the scariest in my opinion.

What’s funny is in a later season when mr krabs try’s to get rid of squidward because an artist told him the value would increase if the artist was not in the picture anyways they send squidward to rock bottom to deliver a meal and he was just as scared as SpongeBob witch is funny because when he delivers the food SpongeBob was there with the same person from rock bottoms and it was the fishes apparent birthday it’s a funny twist because it mean he visted rock bottom after that episode and made friends with everyone down there to the point where they invite SpongeBob to there birthday

Idk the exact name, but the episode where plankton controls SpongeBob from his brain, the “shut your mouth you mediocre clarinet player” one. I watched it when I was like 3-4 years old with a fever, and I have trypophobia and all the holes in SpongeBob were unsettling. The lack of light and darker colors made it seem like a fever dream, lmao. Also this was when I lived in my grandfather’s house (family drama that I won’t go into) so yeah.
I’m surprised Nasty Patty wasn’t in here. However, one of the more unsettling ones imo would probably have to be Squeaky Boots
I can see why you put it in first, but personally, I'd put Spongehenge in first place. Obviously, the events of Rock Bottom are creepy, but at the end, we get a sense of closure where we know SpongeBob has been safely returned to Bikini Bottom (and Patrick will likely come back as well), whereas Spongehenge has this sort of non-ending that leaves what happened while he was gone purely to our imagination. Rock Bottom is more scary in the moment, but then it's over and everything's okay; Spongehenge leaves the viewer with a sense of existential dread that we can't truly stop thinking about.

Out of these episodes, i'll choose Graveyard Shift. I absolutely adore this episode so much, not only because of Nosferatu in the ending, but also, because it's had a dark excellent plot, SpongeBob and Squidward dynamic worked, the Hash Slinging Slasher story it's too scary yet very good, and plus, it's from the classic seasons.
And bedsides, this episode also have some sequels like "The Night Patty" and "Squidferatu", which these episodes are fantastic too.

Honestly, sb 129 is one of the best and scariest spongebob episodes. The idea of being alone in the middle of nowhere is a thought you never think about, and squidward is the perfect showcase in this episode of what being alone can do to a human.
