    Did you get any problems with that Dutch media?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast

      Apart from packing them too close to start with no issue at all. In fact thanks to the pre filter they don't need changing or cleaning either

    Hi mate
    Weren’t you tempted to use the momotaro BHM?
    Is the stacking meant to be so uniform? As thought it’s meant to be random

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe everyone says it should be random with some people even breaking them in half. When I did it random there were lots of gaps and 1 box nearly filled a tray so I was not happy with all the space between the media and though water would track between the sticks. Having seen the sticks absorb water like a sponge I don't think it was too much of an issue but as I had 4 boxes of Media and then the stuff from the old Bakki. I swapped them round to maximise the contact. It is all down to choices but where I could lift them dry the weight was unbelievable when wet and two people struggled to move them. Regarding the Momotaro, I never even thought about it as I bought what my local Supplier www.fiveacrekoi.co.uk had in stock

      Love it
      Now that’s a proper explanation 👍👍
      I asked about the media as I’m currently torn between the bhm and the queni koi one
      Been looking for pros and cons
      Apart from bhm costing an arm and a leg And the others costing just the arm
      🤣🤣🤣🤣

    when you transferred the (Mind Your Own Business Plant) back into the new shower, was any mud/dirt attached to it at all, or is it just roots only and no mud at all ?

    Is the pump for the Bakki in the pond ? Or is it situated outside in your filter house? Thx.
    Looks very nice btw

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching and commenting. The Skimmer feeds into the Filter House under gravity to a 20,000LPH Pump that feeds up through a Pressure filter and up to the Bakki. There is a Tee so the return can bypass the Bakki and feed at mid level in to the pond. There are a couple of Video's explaining the full set up but I will update over the next couple weeks

    Hi not baki shower related looking at getting heat pump for my pond 10.000 liters 80%in the ground about 2 feet out polly carb covers in winter been advised 2 get 12 kw remote also looking at thermatec 9 kw only looking to keep pond about 16 degrees. You have had your heater 1 year now how is it performed

      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I'm honest the ASHP has performed unbelievably well. I had to turn it on the other week as the water was over 25 Degrees so it was on for cooling. The Remora Invertor is a brilliant piece of kit and the Unit is better for me as it is smaller than the Thermotech plus when I spoke with the supplier I needed to buy all the bits extra. With the Remora I got absolutely everything PLUS Wifi Controls, even feet, couplings covers and even a cable and plug was supplied. I recon the i12 was actually cheaper than the 9kW Thermotech plus it has a better conversion rate especially in colder temps. I think all in all compared to the old Elecro unit which was over £2.50 per day the Remora was averaging less than £1 per day. And that was including the Minus 7 Temps and 4 days of Snow. I would not have an issue recommending AES and in particular Simon. He actually designed the Remora and know his Onions. After installing mine and looking at other Thermotech the Remora are a better colour, smaller, quieter and more efficient piece of kit. But that is in my own honest opinion

    Hi Kev, I was told (and so have done mine) just to put them in a random pattern as they act like a sponge and pull water along their length even if it is just a splash. Certainly works with mine and they aren't light once wet I do know that much. Looks good though and will certainly get the benefit from a larger one.

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Mark, I noticed that once it is wet it is very heavy...... Well I started the pump up at after 5 minutes of running the pond level had dropped by nearly two inches. So I can imagine that they are very absorbent like you say. I will check them out next week as I have a few spare and might top the other Showers up

    Hi at what temperature do you heat pond during winter and do you still lower temperature to have a slight winter, thanks

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Mark. Two weeks ago i was using the ASHP to cool the pond as it was over 25. From about October onward's I will set it to 17 Degrees. I believe to keep them feeding, and the Filters working properly it is best to keep it up around 15-16 Degrees. I don't lower it for a while as the Immune system is redundant below 12.8 Degrees and Parasites etc are still active until 5 Degrees so there is a big range where the Koi can be affected. I will keep them at 17 Degrees and continue to feed them every 2 hours with a mixture of Wheatgerm and Hikari Balance

      Cheers for watching. I've got a few reading just before the swap but I also added more Hel-X 13 Filter Media from 40l to 60l so I think with that and the Bakki swap I may have knocked the Parameters back a little. But like I said we will keep checking to see how they react

      If I am honest I think they may do something but very very little compared to the volume of the pond and the water passing. I like them just to break up the lines of the Bakki and to stop sunlight turning the media green. They are just decorative in the garden areas as they don't flower and just grow and spread.
