@@CodyTownsend stoked for it dude! Also, just bought myself a crew cab truck and hoping to build something similar so this episode was right up my alley.
So due to Coronvirus I brought my mom who is close to 80 years old over to the house to stay. Was watching this on big screen and I thought my mom was doing a crossword puzzle and not paying any attention. All of a sudden she says “You need to tell that boy (Bjarne) to put down some rugs because that snow and salt is going to ruin his floors.” LMAO.
I hate to say this, Cody. But I feel I must. I was bowled over by your setup. Utilitarian to the max. Then you throw in Bjarne's rig and my head just exploded. I swear it's like the interior of a Swedish sauna. I fully expected an Abba looking chick to pop out of one of the storage spaces.
AWESOME !! From a guy .... myself who has spent the last 15 years ski bumming & working at the resorts and living in my truck and slide in campers in mammoth and Tahoe .... You all have some great ideas and good rigs to be living the dream !! Have a good spring fun & safe season as I am where Im at now ....and thanks for all the hard work on making all your videos so we can watch em !!
All i can say is - UNIT!!!!!! Awesome truck Cody. Like your bespoke storage/deck unit. Love seeing how people build their own solutions. Super cool bonus episode. Thanks
Nice rig. Looking at a pick up as a possibility for my next rig for the same reason- GoFast Camper on back. For me it’s all about being able to store my mountain bike inside away from weather and thieves, still have a full backseat, and be able to set up and take down camp super fast for those night before camp outs at the trailhead. And like you having it all self contained from inside has so many advantages to a rooftop that you have to go outside to access. So many good vehs coming out in next two years Im sticking with what I have for a few, then I’ll see what’s available.
Jimmy Chin, "Successful Ski Bum"! LMAO. Definitely want a walkthrough of Bjarne's rig. Lots of great #vanlife channels out there; here's a plug for "Gone with the Wynns",
Gonna have to research that Thule extender.. I'm not 6'2 and have a similar lift on my LC. That would be cool for my surf and race paddle boards if it fits any roof rack (I have FrontRunner). KO2s awesome. Thanks!
Man I agree on the truck being a more versatile vehicle and that setup is perfect, but man i love a good van conversion cuz its more like a little apartment and probably a tad bit warmer on cold nights.
Yeah the van is definitely more comfortable for long stints but way less useful for a daily driver. There are upsides and downsides to both that's for sure.
Cool rig, never heard of the GoFastCamper before, love that you can access the pop up from the bed. FYI, for those that can't or don't have the capacity to build a cool drawer system in the bed, check out the Decked. I wonder how the visibility is though with a rig like that that has no windows.
Cody, are you related to The Best Damn Roofer on TH-cam? He is hilarious, you guys could be brothers. Anyways, love your Channel. Maybe you can come down south and do San Gorgonio with us someday, cheers.
The GFC campers have an 11 month wait list - they're doing pretty good. Now, what if you made a large hatch in the roof of Bjarne's van and put a GFC on top of the hatch. All that interior space spent on his bed would be freed up for more drones.
@@CodyTownsend You'd actually probably be better off with a smaller panel then! You're only going to see the efficiency of the most covered/shaded cell so it best to have them all out if you can! Hope this helps
No, it completely seals. I've slept in all manners of rain and snowstorms and have never had any precipitation leaks. It may not look like it seals, but it totally does.
Great series and such a ray of light in these difficult times! Cool truck and +whatever on details of Bjarne's rig. You mentioned the E-F150 in a comment. Gotta get Elon Musk on board with wilderness activities like backcountry skiing and 1) he will have a real market for his Cyber Truck and 2) he will extend the Tesla charging network into more remote mountain town areas.
I'm so glad when looking for a camper I found the Alu-Cab Canopy Campers. A bit pricier than the GFC but a 1,000 times higher quality, usefulness and strength!
I spend a lot of time in my camper during the winter and a rooftop tent does not work for me but the go fast camper could be a great set up. I have a few ski buddies using them. Have you considered a diesel heater? They put out a lot less condensation and use a lot less fuel.. #ADVwithRoscoe
4:00 you can literally see right into the camper. Is the rear hatch not sealed or is that normal? If normal, that is not acceptable for a $6-7k product!
@Cody Townsend I can't believe that you got 34" tires without any rubbing, especially only with a two inch lift. Which, btw it looks much higher than only 2". The Fabtech 3.5" lift doesn't look that high and you can only fit 33" tires after changing the wheels to a 5" offset. You have the stock wheels on that. What is the secret ingredient? Also, the stock crash bars limit tire size to 31".
Yeah not sure quite how it works but haven't had a lick of rubbing. The Radflo lift is labeled at 2.5" too. Oh and yeah, those crash bars...well they had to come off.
Hey Cody, first of all, without fail a new episode makes me and my friends’ day up here in Ottawa. Thanks so much. Best thing by far on TH-cam. Second, I noticed a tail gate pad on your old truck so I assume you mountain bike. What’s your setup now in the summer for bikes with the GFC?
Lol the end
Jimmy Chin: Successful ski bum
New life goal.
oversimplification, but quite true 😂
We definitely need a special episode for Bjarne's rig. That interior is gorgeous, speaking as a carpenter here.
No point calling them bonus episodes anymore, just go full in and make videos about whatever you've got going on. I'll keep watching em. 🤘🏼
Well trying to separate them from the “real episodes” but plenty more coming in this down time.
@@CodyTownsend stoked for it dude! Also, just bought myself a crew cab truck and hoping to build something similar so this episode was right up my alley.
We need a Bjarne rig tour and an episode where Bjarne and Cody switch roles. I want to see Cody quietly filming while Bjarne narrates and skis for us!
That’s actually what we came up with last year but haven’t pulled it off yet
Cody Townsend amazing! I love this series btw
With all this down time, let's please see the van next episode!
hard part is we're 500 miles apart and not traveling...but I'll ask to see what he can do on his own.
@@CodyTownsend if we weren't all in quarantine, I would start quoting that Proclaimers song about walking 500 miles.

I don't ski. I don't mountaineer. However, this has been the best series I've come across in a long time!

So cool, excited to Bjarne's rig soon. Love Jimmy popping in at the end!
I don’t know what I love more about this Bonus Ep. Azulito, Bjarne’s Rig or Jimmy Chin casually saying Hi... definitely very cool episode thanks!
Cheers man.
that last minute is the most accurate bit of programming ever. this is exactly how outdoor people talk about their vans and their friends vans.
Love that Jimmy Chin just casually pops in at the end 😂 You guys both have some sweet rigs, thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
Bjarn- "U think thats cool? Hold my coffee"
Rad. Far better than my leaky Subaru outback with a blow up mattress!
Bjarne gear + rig episode is a must.
Agreed, gonna be tough cause he’s 509 miles away locked down but I’ll see if he can film on his own.

So rad. I saw you in Jackson a while back. It was cool so I told all my friends.
The best pick up bed solution..the overland community need to see this! We love the bonus episodes..keep up the good job Cody!
Loved the car system but got to say, as I am building my own van right now, Bjarnes van at the end got me so excited :D
Love it! Definitely do another episode on Bjarne's van!! I also like the cameo by celebrity Jimmy Chin.
Bjarne's tiny cast iron stove is the crux of this episode
Damn. As if the GFC wait wasn't long enough. This video is going to generate a lot more buzz.
What can be more cool than Jimmy Chin appearing from nowhere and start hanging out?
HOLY MOLLY Bjarne's van looks unreal!
+ 1 for another bonus of Bjarne's rig!!
With us all stuck inside, we could use another bonus episode of Bjarne's rig! Looks epic!
I'll have to ask him if he can film it himself. We're separated and not traveling right now.
New drinking game, every time Cody says essentially, down a shot 😉🍻
Essentially that could kill you
All i can say is - UNIT!!!!!! Awesome truck Cody. Like your bespoke storage/deck unit. Love seeing how people build their own solutions. Super cool bonus episode. Thanks
Yeah do another bonus ep with Bjarne's ride, would be fun to see him in front of the camera a bit as well!
Dang, that tent start at 7k.
That’s a lot of nice hotel rooms 😆
Home Sweet Home-on-the-Road... Very nice!!
Love your Fifty Series! and all the bonus episodes too - Your Rig ROCKS! (we also love your cute little Yorkie)
another great episode....very cool stuff and functional....Bjarnes ride is sic....the little stove is the best....love you guys....
nice rig - top rack slide system is super rad. Also +1 on the KO2s - love mine!
Agreed!
Awesome build cody! Being able to stand up inside that is amazing.
Bjarne.. rockstar! Look forward to seeing the beautiful work he put into that van! Oh yeah nice truck set up too!
What a great truck. Dream truck for every outdoors lover.......😍😍😍😍
Cant wait to see bjarnes rig episode!
Outstanding setup Cody
Woah...Bjarne's rig is the one. That is just killer.
Sweet rig. Love that blue color. Reminds me of the sky back in the days before all the chemtrails.
Really like the latest Ranger.
Love bonus eps like this, keep em up!
Sweet - great timing and was curious about your rig. Keep 'em coming. Bonus ep are great too!
Thanks for this Cody
Love behind the scenes episodes (whats in the bag, AMA and now this) keep the content coming Cody
Definitely would like to see Bjarne's van thing looks sweet.
Bjarne's rig, holy shit, more please.
dude thats super sick. Most "Lift Kits" are just cookie cutter, no custom fabrication or cusomization whatsoever. Super cool truck
Yeah and they generally just degrade performance and ride, these Radflos improve it so much. They're so sick.
love the bonus episodes, looking forward to Bjarne's multiple features
Awesome build! Thanks for the video. Nicely done.
Incredible truck Cody, and nice episode! Sometimes I might camp out in a Mazda Tribute but it doesn’t look anywhere near this comfortable
this is such a rad setup
I know that I'm coming late to the party, but I find it really interesting that all this is being done in an M-Plate vehicle. IYKYK.
Great breakdown video of your rig!
I love how a Ford Ranger is considered a small truck in the US where I'm the UK it's probably one of the biggest non commercial vehicles on the road 😂

What a fantastic well balanced set up!

Thank you for doing this one.
My first vehicle was a ford ranger: Harriet the Chariot
Miss it so much!
Love me some bonus eps! Thanks!!
Awesome home engineering, that’s one heavy duty storage drawer.
Sure is. Turned out amazing if I do say so myself.
Get a Mountain Hatch tailgate cover for your ranger. I got one on mine and it turns the tail gate into a usable cooking surface, cutting board, etc

Might want to think about moving that solar panel out from under the ski tips. They don't especially like uneven lighting.
Yeah, tried to fit it lengthwise but was just not fitting, so had to compromise with shadows.
@@CodyTownsend You'd actually probably be better off with a smaller panel then! You're only going to see the efficiency of the most covered/shaded cell so it best to have them all out if you can! Hope this helps

You can clearly see the back hatch is unlatched. Trust me, I’ve camped in raging snow storms and haven’t had a speck of snow inside the thing.

fabulous
34’s on stock wheels and no rubbing? Did you use spacers and have to cut the bars off?
consider a "Chinese diesel heater". Its about 300 bucks and is a furnace (ie the combustion happens with exterior air, so its a "dry heat")
