That is really bad if they didn't show it I would call and complain. I only once had something like this with an auction company but they agreed it wasn't fair that they missed it. The auction company(centurion auctions) in this case offered a full refund(send it back) or a partial credit and I opted for the credit.
They sold me a rifle that under the wood someone used some type of plastic to fill in pitting. The person consigning it definitely knew. Again I love them and have bought from them since, they made it right in my book. Now I do buy from them often I don't know if that is why they were so quick to work with me or if they just are great people.@@justinsargenti1573 If anyone thinks I am saying something bad about them you are wrong I have been very very satisfied with them and that was my only issue out of many purchases.
Saw your Reddit post today, sorry to hear about the damage that really sucks. I threw a bid on a really cool Sparks Pepperbox Derringer a while back on proxibid. This was a project and had obviously not been stored well at all. I was completely fine with this as I love projects, however it was much worse once received than the pictures showed and I thought the pics did a good job though no so much. Was completely locked up. Still working on it but I have it all stripped down. I know it is not the situation like yours but needless to say I was disappointed as well.. sometimes you take a risk and it doesn’t pan out
When viewing an auction online, I usually take into account 60-80 lots per hour sold, so if the lot I am looking at is 320 and the auction starts at 9am, I will check in on it around 1pm. I hope you are able to get some restitution on this rifle
Welcome to milsurp auctions! If one is prone to disappointment, it’s best not to buy unless they can see absolutely everything in close detail on the rifle.
Personally I think you did ok for the price. Not good ethics for sure but if you don’t get the option to return it you’ll be ok. It might clean up some with some elbow grease. Good luck
Where’d they get that rifle, from RTI? All kidding aside, if you saw that on a table at a show, you would have kept on walking. Hope they come clean. If not, do another video and make sure your viewers know about it.
Cool rifle, but that damage is a disappointment. Should have been properly represented in the listing. Maybe then it could’ve been had for even cheaper.
saw youre reddit post, i saw all the comments calling out Davis Brothers and ive got to agree with them. They are extremely low quality. Go with Centurion Auctions instead next time
It looks like someone use MIG with no gas if those are the remains of some welds. If you used a card id just dispute the charge with the bank. What a joke
Okay, so you are mad over nothing buddy. Some of the auction have rules in place to prevent FFL holders of all types to match the address. I hope you see why, but if you don’t, it’s a safety net to prevent someone scamming licenses.
They were saying it was an ATF mandated rule when I asked about it which it isn’t. If it’s internal policy then whatever. Anyway, I’m more so annoyed about the weld marks not represented in the listing photos.
Sure is. Welcome to gun trading and why I don't mess with overpriced milsurp rifles anymore. Greed stopped the fun a long time ago. I'm not giving my money to sharlitons.
@@GarandGuy2553 No problem. BTW, that looked like a mark III ★. That would fit with 1918 and I couldn't see any of the extras that were removed to simplify production. Does it have the magazine cut off?
@@mironeko3820 No magazine cutoff. Has a December 1919 acceptance date on the stock. Front barrel band is 41 dated and looks to have a few other parts replaced through the years.
Reminds me why I refuse to do business with C&R FFLs. Always have issues with them. Whining over a $400 rifle is typical. Anyway, that's some weird damage. Kind of like they welded a scope mount to it. Hopefully, the auction house will offer you a settlement you'll be happy with.
Refuse to do business with C&R FFL’s when they have legitimate complaints? What’s illegitimate about my complaint here? Angry at the seller for misrepresenting the state of their rifle isn’t “whining”.

I left them a voicemail and emailed them. I’ll give them a couple days to respond.
Centurion has been good to me too in that regard, what did they miss on your gun? They’re surprisingly customer friendly for a big auction house

Just make sure you put that rear site protector back on correctly once you strip it down👍
Definitely!

Yeah, that’s annoying. I guess you have to weigh wether you want to fight them or just move on.

That’s good advice! I’ll keep that in mind if I ever jump into an auction again.
Definitely subscribing because of the all the wood behind you
Haha it never hurts to have some wood on the wall
Yeah that’s pretty sketchy. I’d call and complain and see what type of compensation you can get
Yeah, I left a voicemail and email. We’ll give it a couple days and see what happens.
Lithgow's will have assembly numbers on the receiver and bolt, that's likely what you're seeing.
There were two serial numbers on the bolt handle, on the bottom and right side. Neither matched the receiver, which also had 2 serial numbers on it.
Welding on the receiver? Not good at all. Hiding that was disgraceful.
Yeah, seems it was intentional.
Great score!! By the way, Lithgow is pronounced Lith Go. The W is almost silent
Thanks for the correction!
Lol saw your comment on the gundies awards. 😂
Armed Scholar maybe has the most clickbait thumbnails on TH-cam. I wish more folks would pay attention to Fuddbusters.
That’s the problem gonna run into dealing with these small operations the big boys like Morphys, Rock Island, Auction, etc. know what they’re doing
Yeah, I won’t be dealing with them again obviously.

ah so that was you on reddit didnt even notice but notice the gun
Yeah, a bit inconvenient
Seems like a dishonest mistake on their part.
Or a very intentional mistake
@@GarandGuy2553 that's what I meant
I can certainly understand why you're disappointed with the end result. I tend to avoid online auctions just because of this kind of tomfoolery.
Yeah, I’ll definitely be more weary of auctions going forward.
I also have a 1918 that looks like 1913.
Yeah, it’s hard to tell the 8 from the 3 but so few were made in 1913 that it would be quite rare.
Cool rifle, but that damage is a disappointment. Should have been properly represented in the listing. Maybe then it could’ve been had for even cheaper.
I’m guessing that why it didn’t go for higher when competing with the floor bidders.

Good call. Live and learn from experience I guess.
Love centurion, plus one on them but don’t write off the small guys as they’re good too 99 percent of the time in my experience

12 min into vid before you actually get to see the gun
