Another thing you can do with your toddler is to take a baggie and add a wet paper towel and put a couple of beans in it then tape it to your window. Lima beans sprout easily and dont have too hard of a shell. Your family can watch the seed sprouting in the window before planting in a milk carton. What an awesome gift to surprise your fam!
