1:05:18 Fun Fact: if you play Black Horse and the Cherry Tree on bass in Band Hero for PS2, it's literally possible to get 3 or 4 gold stars instead of 5. You just intentionally kill your streak before you hit the 2x multiplier and don't hold the sustains if you want to get 3 gold stars. You also *can not* get 5 gold stars unless you have a good star power path.. don't ask me how I know.
@RadRog Pretty sure it's going to be a lot harder to get 3 gold stars on other songs though. I'm sure it's doable on many of them, but I can guarantee it wouldn't work on every song. This one just happens to be the easiest example that I know of as well.
Not having played a plastic guitar rhythm game since I was 11 until now when I came back to it with Fortnite Festival it has been a mind-blowing experience and I wish I had kept up with it this whole time. I personally feel very passionate about these rhythm games and I am on my way to becoming a well versed member of the community. I love learning all of the neat and obscure details and lore entries to the history of our favorite rhythm games. I just want to become better at the plastic guitar more and more the deeper I go! Thank you Lore Hero guys and everyone in the community for being awesome and showing me cool things.
It was so refreshing to hear you all talk about the issues with the riffmaster and comparing it to the classics like the Xplorer, SG, and Les Paul. That clip of Acai and Jake fucking around with their own individual Xplorers had me dying! I remember having to fashion a lever for the back button as well. I had no idea others were doing it back in the day too! What a terrible guitar for squeezing, but I still like it for casual play.
Some good lore. I'm gonna summarise this episode from memory without going back and fact checking. Moose is a Coke head. Got the CZ. CONSUME ENERGY DRINKS - I DRINK LIKE 5 A DAY - MOAR TORQUE Golden Riffmaster is bad? Golden Riffmaster is good? The Riffmaster dongle paring situation is crazy... Missing notes in Festival because you didn't upstrum. (skill issue) The calibration situation is crazy... They're taking feedback, but they're not asking for it beforehand. You can put "BITCH" at the bottom of your Festival gameplay. You can still play the old games. Download GH3 PC. Don't pirate. CD-ROM discs are somehow strong. A bit of tea. ENERGY DRINKS! Must go to the bar with the boys and drink some Indian Piss Ale (Isopropyl alcohol is also abbreviated as IPA, so if you are looking to buy IPA, please make sure it's safe to consume.) Family Guy.
thing about the break bug: it happened on keyboard, on controller, upstrum, downstrum, console, pc, 60fps, uncapped fps, everything. Only consistency we could find is that it happened at all. It also happened at different places too different people, some people couldn't play the first note of SOMP, some people couldn't play after the break in the gay song, while others could play through those no problem. It was seemingly completely random which made it incredibly confusing.
on the "missing after an emote break" bug my gamepad binds are left,down/x,a,b on xbox. i switched it away from the default that uses up/y for the second and fourth lanes. last couple weeks playing on gamepad, when the song started or every time after an emote break, it wouldn't register the first time i pressed down to hit lane 2, even if it was after a dozen other notes. so to fix this i was hitting down one time immediately after the song starts or the break ends (and praying it doesn't count as a strike) to "wake up" my down button before a note appeared in lane 2 when playing on riffmaster, it would not recognize the riffmaster as a guitar controller unless there was a gamepad connected (which has been happening for a long time) and when a song starts it would give me gamepad binds for the riffmaster. now with the emote break bug it also does this after a lot of breaks, and to fix it i have to apply an input on my gamepad and go back to the riffmaster after every song start and every break it's constant new bugs like this that make me not want to play this game as much as i should. i've been spending more time playing rock band 2 lately than festival. it's frustrating that i can go play a 16 year old game and know my misses are my own fault, but a game that gets updated every week never makes me feel like i actually have control
I like the blue open hi-hat. When I play Guitar Hero and all the hi-hat flourishes are just played straight through on yellow, it feels silly. Blue isn’t “great,” but at least it feels like you’re hitting differently for notes that are, in fact, different. I can definitely see both sides of the argument, and maybe it’s just because I started with Rock Band, but I vastly prefer RB’s hi-hat charting to that of GH.
I feel like even casual players who dabble in playing on higher difficulties would know that something like overdrive should be easily accessible with a dedicated button and not just to the motion controls or d-pad (which annoyingly also triggers strums if you press up or down by accident). I can excuse the sync controls I guess since this is their first iteration, but I feel like anyone you ask who's played the game(s) and is at least a little experienced would look at the guitar and ask "where's the star power/overdrive button?"
10:10 now i understand... Jake is the most overkill person on the planet, and he outs himself each episode 😭the amount of monitors is insane, i only dream of having 3 purely for symmetry, a second for me is max efficiency
sadly the xbox accessories app doesn’t recognize the riffmaster as an xbox controller since it needs the sync button and even if it did you can’t map the left d pad to the select button on a normal controller
I can't think of 4 12 packs of coke for $16 as being a good deal because I regularly used to get the same thing for $12, although if I'm lucky I'll only have to pay $15 or something like that...
When testing my Riffmaster in World Tour on the 360, using the Riffmaster's Back button for Star Power, or select of whatever it's called I don't even know anymore. And yeah it's tiny and not as good as the huge Star Power button. BUT IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN D-PAD LEFT!
GH3 Remastered is such a silly idea. Especially when (almost) every song from every Rock Band game is playable in Rock Band Rivals… At least for players who were keen on it back in 2015. And for everyone else… Ya know, Clone Hero and Yarg and all that.
maybe someone can tell me if im misunderstanding the calibration options in fortnite or if they're just broken for a while i've noticed my audio was lagging a bit behind, and it wasn't affecting my gameplay, but i just wanted my experience to be a little bit better, so i went and adjusted the audio latency. after adjusting the audio latency, it completely changed the hit window on the notes, and made it unplayable. i kept messing with the calibration settings and nothing felt right, so i just set it to 0, 0 and played a song. on 0, 0 i got an FC with 0 ms average hit latency. the audio was still lagging, but now im just resigned to leaving it as it is, because apparently this is as perfect as my gameplay can get
Can Fortnite Festival introduce having to hold in the start button and touchpad in for 3 seconds before opening menus! Hate doing well in a song but mess it up by accidentally opening a menu. Skullgirls the fighting game introduced this feature and it would be great for festival
WILD to hear myself mentioned on the podcast, honoured, thank you gentlemen
1:11:18 that's it. that's the best Lore Hero clip

@@mazda9624 oh true I’m thinking if gh2. If you strum everytime you get 4x you’ll get 4 gold stars
Sounds like I'm A Cat had a super early chart. Vocals with a lift note after a sustain, and now a lift on Pro Lead.

I'll say about the bug, I've had it happen to me a few times. I tapped on the frets before the note came and it worked fine.
everyone in this podcast is are all caffiends
the video about calibration it is soo good until this day i was able to get my almost correct one for WTDE for missing by 10 lol
17:03 I was *not* expecting that insanely smooth zoom.

I feel called out for wanting a GH remaster. Although to be fair i was thinking more of a 1 and 2 remake
