Not much remains to be completed: we still have some laundry room built ins on the way and some things being framed. But for the most part, I am calling it good! Hi from Annie the entrance is lovely and the the cosy front room, looks very welcoming...You have a very clean uncluttered decor which is inspiring t me. as I need to work on my habit of putting too many things in one place, like the idea of those little lights they really are a great addition to have along with those candles. I love that marble bench you have, yes it does take up lot of the space but still lovely. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the house.

I have a handful of solar lights in my yard…after a storm…we were out of power for three days…I brought the solar lights in the evening…and placed them back in the yard during the daylight hours.I placed them throughout the house in vases or heavy glasses at nighttime. 👍😉

Hi Linda! An idea for your crowded kitchen flow. What about installing an under counter fridge or fridge drawers in the corner where you have your ice bucket? Then keep all your cocktail ingredients and drinks, etc, in there. People can help themselves and stay out of the crowded prep corner area. 😊

Beautiful, Linda! I have a similar sea grass basket situation in my kitchen and we use it for our soiled cloth napkins! In an attempt to use less paper products, we thrifted many cloth napkins several years ago, and not only do I like the feel of using a cloth napkin, they seem to “romance the ordinary” as you say! And for anyone who feels like that’s not very practical, I’ll say it is! It just involves a bit of rewiring our daily behaviors. I have two children at home too, and folding clean napkins has just become one of the regular chores - just takes a couple of minutes to fold and put away. 😊

I'm obsessed with diamond paned windows. We had them in our last (brick) house. The new owners ripped them out and replaced them with large plate glass windows. Broke my heart!

QOTD: I like the front door as it is. Love that the parlor doesn’t have a TV, instead, it’s set up for conversations! Something I’d like to see more of. I’m definitely going to order those under counter lights. It’s Hurricane season here in N FL and Panhandle - will come in handy when we loose electricity. Thank you. Zone 9
I absolutely love the entrance/parlor room!! So inviting. I do see lots of conversations there. The diamond Windows are my favorite! I've always wanted those. Everything is just darling, very well put together!!
how about a mini fridge over in the bar cabinet area with lemons/limes and some snacky things for hubs when he's making his drink and snack at night while you are cooking?

Hi Linda, I loved this video. I don't usually do this but thought I'd offer just 2 suggestions. Some of which you may have already thought about. The TV cord can be painted to match the wall color thereby concealing it more and the "hubs station" aka the kitchen bar! instead of filling an ice bucket daily what about having a crushed ice maker below in the cabinet? I had a friend who had that (can set style of cubes) and it was an amazing thing to use! Love your style, home and videos! you too Stewart!
Everything thing is looking great and I love the option for the front door. Always inspiring with lots of ideas. 😊
The only thing I can think of in terms of not having a bottleneck by the fridge is to rotate the cutting board by the sink so your back is to the stove. Move your large flower arrangement to the opposite side of the island. Might not look as good, but might work during prepping your meal.
Love the blue and white accents that you are adding to your home. It's a such a classic combination that adds a historically correct feel to your cottage on the hill.

It all looks lovely and I love the settee - it's perfect! I purchased the cordless black/brass lamps when you featured them a while ago. While I do love them and do not regret purchasing them - one must be aware that the batteries do not last long. Can't wait to see the rest of the house. Best investment I have made in northern Michigan where my power is often OUT. After a 4.5 day outage in March 2012 I knew a generac was needed; I never want to be cold in my house again!

Ok so I took down my living room drapes and let the wood work show and also the kitchen windows and I like it such a light feel in the room I see you did the same thing
I love how warm your kitchen is with the warm wickers and tans and of course, that amazing TILE! I hadn’t ever noticed that they ran it all the way to the floor molding on either side of the door-that was a WIN, for whoever thought of that. The tray with the beautiful peachy/pink/yellows and that awesome little swatter is just the perfect ensemble for a splash of warm color and intrigue and sitting next to the peonies…perfection! Love the rugs, the pillows, the cutting boards and the potted peppers! So well thought out, yet it looks effortless. Bravo! 💜

How cute is that little candle snuffer and wick snipper!? And those Globemaster alliums are stunning, but not as much as that bowl made from your fallen oak....absolutely priceless. And then, I would never have thought to put that plant stand upside down and put the basket in it...so clever! Finally, as a Floridian who is no stranger to hurricanes and storms, I need those little light-up lights!

The front door inspiration is beautiful. I switch out accessories each season as well. My daughter enjoys getting to help me and I hope it is a tradition my children continue as adults. My mom has gifted me with beautiful custom pottery and civil war wooden bowls over the years. I think there is such value in adding old with new and you do a beautiful job throughout your home. I am a lover of mismatched tables as well. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

This was very entertaining. You always make me laugh. I love your style and decor. For the allium arrangement I think it might look better if the leaf was cut shorter so it doesn’t block the flowers from that angle.

I've gotten such a peaceful feeling watching this video. Your home has a definite sense of calm to me. A side note: I'm a native of Alexandria, Virginia and the "a" in 'and' is nasal just like saying the conjunction "and"and not "aw". Sorry to be persnickety, Linda, but it grates a tad to hear my hometown mispronounced....unless you were just teasing in which case it's just fine.
The small drawers/counter on the right of the kitchen could have a fridge or freezer drawer installed into it.

My husband and I learned to do what we call the "dance" in the kitchen. We learned to go around and work around each other. Your kitchen is bigger than ours.

A suggestion to help with the kitchen congestion;
A small ice maker set up either on the glass table or in that corner area you had the ice bucket.
You can find small ones that are used in RV’s and boats.
The leaning mirror gives depth to your room. Nice touch. #functional
