125 grain 9mm at 1400 feet per second is a pretty hot loading, at least +P+ and approaching .357 magnum levels of power. for reference, a standard pressure 9mm is 115 grain at about 1200 feet per second

You know for a high class assassin hotel with its own state of the art armory, the staff would be more properly armed with more ARs or a couple of those benellis sitting on the racks instead of pistols. Honestly this was one of the most frustrating scenes in any of the JW movies. He warns John about improved body armor technology right before this, then hands him a 9mm round. Idc how spicy your 9mm is, it's not getting through any decent armor, especially not 'new' armor worn by elite storm troopers. He was set up to fail from the beginning just so they could have a sequence to regroup with AP shotgun shells.

Wick could have also used a Desert Eagle in .44 Magnum or .50AE and even a non-penetration hit to the helmet would knock the wearer out.
125 gr going 1400 fps is pretty hot for handgun round but that’s nothing in grand scheme of things for plate armor and ballistic helmet, level 3 shoulder pads. This is what happened when your dialogue is based on knowledge of fat dude surrounded by paid women
The first movie was great because it tried to set itself in the real world and he used a bunch of different weapons; HK, IWI, Glock, etc. The follow ups were just really long Taran Tactical commercials. This whole scene is absolutely ridiculous. 9mm major? It's a competition round but they got the worlds greatest assassin running a Sig MPX in 9mm (upgraded by Taran Tactical, of course) instead of the MCX in an actual rifle caliber like 5.56 or 300 blk.
And yet this 9mm Major does nothing against body armor. Would have made more sense to promote some kind of 9mm armor piercing round, which does exist or 5.7 or the 4.6 or even rifle caliber.

Don't get me wrong, they still pack quite a punch and could do some major damage (break ribs, internal bruising, etc.) but Excalibur is right, for body armor penetration you want a bullet that is hard (most slugs are made of lead, a fairly soft metal as far as metals are concerned), and thin, so the momentum of the bullet is more focused to one spot, giving greater chance of penetration.
Sometimes I wished to see the real law deal with The High Table. I mean so much stuff was happening, and definitely some of the people of the legal world should have taken notice or even formed theories about the mysterious high table
