Nice 👍 Brings back memories seeing that interior, had H reg Sri for years & loved it. Electrics did for it not rust, I couldn't afford to keep chasing the problems. Good luck mate 👍
Thanks,I think the early SRI was a better car, I’m surprised about the electrical issues though, I have heard of it before but not common, I wonder if it had been messed with before by someone, shame though. Thanks hopefully some future updates on this.
Good find Steve, nice wee project and a 2.0 8 Valve, my favourite cavalier engine. Looking forward to seeing any future videos of any work and thoughts you have on it. you must be tempted to keep them both, just don't end up with 6 cars like me :)
Savage with the Rolf Harris joke love it. The MK3 Cavalier with the wide ratio gearbox is very good especially on motorways as the revs are only at 2500rpm at 70mph. That's similar to a diesel.
😂🤣 I think the gearing will be very similar with my MK3 Auto at 70mph it sitting at 2050-2100 rpm from what I can remember, I will be taxing it tomorrow so will confirm that.
@@Cavalier_Steve My A3 TDI used to cruise at 70mph in 6th gear around 2000 rpm. That's 1400 rpm lower than my Corolla. I was thinking of putting the diesel box as 5th gear is taller but as it's only a 1.4 it won't pull that great.
Keep it Steve, you knoe you want to. It will make a nice car with the good old 8v unit. I will be getting one in a few months to add to the collection.
@@Cavalier_Steve I really want a Cavalier. Had ones years ago that sadly got stolen. Never really had chance to enjoy it. I promised myself another one and, the yearnings got stronger over the last 12 months. I'm hopefully going to be getting a 2.0 8v.
@@matthewelwell9218 That’s rubbish that your original one got stolen, definitely get an 8V over the 16V the 8V seems more willing, the 16V is ok but not as good as the 8 unless it’s the red top engine with the SFI unit on top.
The 8v certainly is a well proven engine. Not keen on the Ecotech equipped cars. I've had a few and, ive found them very flat performance wise. The c20xe is a belter though.
Hi Steve, you look like you've got a nice tidy Cavalier there mate it's it really good condition for it's age, I assume you can get new sills for it which wouldn't be that difficult to replace then fix up the lower doors mate and it will be a really nice car👍 If I was you I would keep it as you seem to prefer it to your other one so keep this and maybe sell the other🤔I'm sure the wife wouldn't mind🤫😂
Hi John, yeah it’s not bad at all is it really, the sills you can still get, not sure on my ability to change them though I’m willing to give it a go though. Will have to have a closer look at the doors and see what I can do with it. I would like to keep it but I’m really torn between the 2 will have to see… cheers mate.
Providing it hasn't been bodged before all you need to do is drill out the spot welds then prise the old one off, they can be a bit of a pain so an angle grinder will help with getting it off, just make sure the inner sill is ok as changing that is a whole different story🤦♂🤦♂😂
@@Cavalier_Steve mine was the Sri spec I also owned a mk2 1.8 hatchback on a D plate lovely car to drive and quite quick but the rust killed it in the end
Hi Steve, Looks like a nice car considering how old it is. Hopefully, the wife will bare with you while you sort out what you are doing 😂. Do you think you'll tackle the seals and arches yourself? Good video again mate, cheers 👍
Thanks Pete, yeah I really like the colour, it suits it well I think. You know me, I like to give most things ago not sure how it would turn out though, sills I think shouldn’t be to bad still a big project though. Cheers mate.

Thanks Andy, if I had my own way I would definitely keep them both but need a bigger driveway 🤣 cheers mate.
Keep it Steve, the collection is growing!
Cheers mate 🥂

I do know I want to but sadly lack of space and I hate MOT times at the best of times so… good luck on your new purchase. What are you getting?

Love the 8v. Early face lift. Still with analog clock. When I went from a H reg 2.0 8v SRi 130 to a M reg 16v. Sri. I found the eco a lazy engine
I agree it is lazy this goes like stink compared to my Blue one. Was your M reg Cavalier the one with the red top?
@@Cavalier_Steve no. It was the c20xev. Same that’s it your blue one I think.
Great find - tyres from 2002? Ouch.
Get the welder out and show us how to sort the sills and arches!
Thanks Alan, yeah the tyres are knackered! I will see about the welding, I can stick bits of metal together but it wouldn’t look pretty 🤣
Mine was the 2 litre 8 valve on a G plate loved that car
They was good cars for there time, the earlier ones was slightly lighter as they didn’t have the crash bars in the doors. Thanks
