Looks like you're getting pretty good at spinning that engine over with a bar. I think if you keep practicing, you'll soon discover the new Karate move you didn't know it just taught you. The Flathead would be cool in the Chicken truck...but yeah, only if it's at a reasonable price.
I love working on old crusty mechanicals. Newer motorcycles usually come down to replacing the igniter box or computer. $1500 repair bill for a bike that is not worth that much . Older bikes , just points and carb if you get any kind of compression. The main reason that I stoped working on customers bikes . As Jean Paul Sautra said “ the real hell is other people “
I liked the chicken puppet. The Pontiac 6 would be a unique motor for a unique truck . The Indian head steering wheel is very cool . In the warmer weather I just watch videos later in the day . Thanks Kyle
Thank you again for taking the time to make another well produced video. I can see you being sponsored by Krud Kutter. I just ordered some based on your video and endorsement.
I quite liked the Pontiac, was saddened to see the extent of the rust but, yeah, leaving metal in water has never been a good idea. Some people's children.....I enjoyed the work on the flathead, thsoe engines are just so damn cool! I admired your intiative in getting the guage back in the dash and your work on the transmission. As well, the Krud Kutter seems to help, the Chicken Truck looks a lot better. So have a good week. Cheers!
The problem with that engine isn't the fact that it was used as an anchor for a submarine, it's that you used a cheap dollar store water bottle to fill it with fuel. You should have used a smartwater bottle. 😂
Florida here. I need these videos to get through the long, long hot summer that we have coming up. The walk from one’s air conditioned home to air conditioned car leaves you drenched in sweat. 🥵
Im not exactly sure but I think somehow you got some grease or oil stains on your new seat in the Pontiac! Man I know it's bad but if you really listen to the car it really wants to continue to live! The Chicken was hilarious 😂!
Since I found your channel I watch your new videos. It helps being subscribed because if TH-cam doesn't have it recommended, you can just go to your channel or whoever's channel and see new content.
Kyle .. aka.. The Friendly Giant of starters and rust removal. With a little encouragement from Rusty the chicken, all is good in the Coupe de thrill.👍
I dunno - all things considered, the old Pontiac ran pretty well. It's not ready for the highway but since it's been sitting for who knows how many years it could be a lot worse. As for the Krud Kutter, I'll bet if you put some plastic kitchen wrap over the top it would work better without drying out.
Your non recommendation came at the perfect time. I’m in the process of refinishing steel frame windows. I’ve been wire wheeling and using acid. It’s been a tedious process. Going to try the Krud!
The fact that it idles as well as it does kinda says the internals of that motor are not that bad "probably". The "coughing" you are hearing in the carburetor kinda indicates you might have a stuck or burnt intake valve. Most likely stuck. If you are hearing similar poping from the exhaust, the same thing applies only on the exhaust valve side. I would try some STP additive in the oil or maybe some Marvel mystery oil. Beyond that, you are looking at removing the head to determine damage/condition. A vacuum gauge is also a simple way to determine things. A strong reading (16-18) but the needing bouncing a lot says good rings (compression) but bad valves. Use a "stove bolt" in the truck. A late one with pressurized oil system and hydraulic lifter if possible.
Thanks for the input. I did put a vacuum gauge on it but forgot to include that in the video. The needle was bouncing around so you are probably right about the valve issues. I may end up pulling the head once I get it moved into the garage for disassembly
well the '53 Pontiac runs I mean the engine isn't terrible you could spend a little more time on it. A running engine is better than a frozen one any day. Looks like that Krud Kutter worked pretty well as long as you don't leave it on too long with each application. Love your cats playing during the video. Thanks for the video Kyle.

Hello Kyle, I love those old early 50's GM cars. My brother just gave me a 1977 Chevy Malibu classic sport. It's like your's but with two less doors. It has a 121220 miles and was bought locally. I'm pretty happy to have it to tinker with.
And it's obviously very desirable.. That's why no one else wanted it while it sat languishing forever.. Four doors are like that.. 😂😂 BTW.. LOVE the Red Green vibes!
@@CarterAutoRestyling thanks for the update. I moved from Oklahoma to Calgary n 1963 as my dad was transferred there. I freaked out when I saw Chevy motors in Pontiacs. I was also curious about all the 6 banger full size cars. When I thought about it though it made perfect sense as Calgary had no freeways and the trans Canada speed limit was 60. The six cylinder cars made total sense. I really enjoyed Canada and have been back. Canadians are the nicest people on earth.
Adding #puppetry to the channel is a very astute move, your views will improve dramatically. Too much voltage and running without an air cleaner can really damage those old Pontiac flatheads, especially if they were wore out to begin with. Cheers! 😎👍🐔🥚🛻🏁🏁
When it was spinning over with plugs in it sounds like not all cylinders have compression. Probably some stuck valves. Some valves might be accessible through the plug holes and may be able to be tapped down. I did like the good access you had to the clutch. You couldn't free off a flathead ford like that. Nice job on the rust. I need something like that for my 32 sedan. That's a job I'm not looking forward to. Oh yeah, my views have tanked too, but I put that down to the T-Bird not being as popular as the 100E. Ok mate, catch you next time! Mart.
Hi Mart. Thanks for your input on the Pontiac engine. I think once I get the car moved inside, I'll pull the head off so I have full access to mess with the valves. Ps. Nice work getting the T bird to run on 4 barrels! It sounds great!
That's a rare 53 or 54 Pontiac Submarine! Add a magnetic oil drain plug and fill with rotella 4 oil. It will repay you with love and torque you didn't expect.

Krud Kutter gel is slow, but does a nice job. Their liquid version is not good as it runs out of oomph way too fast. Not a flatty fan, but your truck, your choice. I am gonna watch regardless of what engine you choose!
