Alright......you got me...THAT is cool. I put one in my shop when I did the floor, but it's covered with individual pieces of oak full thickness 2x12 lumber so it will hold about anything I drive over it. Pain to remove them one by one, but the pit is sure handy.

I saw a pit in an old service station garage area years ago, loved it so much,I put one in when building my garage. The lifts you can buy are nice but I'd rather have a pit. I don't have a hydraulic set up,just a ladder. Great video!

Trick for the oil filter punch hole in bottom of filter before you remove it drains oil and less spillage.

I like the fact that it’s even with the floor when not in use(very safe). I’m going to guess with all the engineering that goes into it and each one is custom built, they’re going to cost a significantly more than a above ground hoist. I would love one in my garage though!! Thanks for sharing

Just found this video and was interested in how the pit was made and that was very good , nice looking shop too , with a bonus in the begining of the video in the back ground , l was surprised to see the wheel trencher , or as some people call it ( the ditcher ) setting there ready for work and coils of tubing or ( pipe ) .
I used to work with that machine for many years , l started in 1974 at 16 and worked about 10 years in farm drainage and excavating for the former owner of the trencher , Robert W. ( Bill ) Keller , from Pa.
When l started when the trencher was his only machine and the excavating business grew from there .
That trencher also is what lead to the start of Fry,s Plastic Pipe , a business that is very large now , also.
A good working machine that was keep in good repair and serviced daily when in use .
That is why a machine that was built in 1959 is still working yet .
I saw it was for sale some years and didn't know what happened to it .
Good to see it is still working .
Please forward this text to you freind that owns the trencher .
Would be nice if you could do a video of that trencher working so a lot of people could see what it does and how fast it can lay pipe on grade in the ground in good working conditions .
Rocky ground not so good if to many .
Average day would be 1500 to 2000 feet day .
I have seen as little as 300 feet a day in a swamp with the duel tires on the trencher and in to the frame in mud and winching ( that place is dry and grows nice corn now , one would never be allowed to drain that place in today's world ) to as much as 2500 feet in a day and still move the trencher to the job next job site at end of the day , long day was dark .
We would go from the field and hook the trencher to the back of the dump truck in 15 minutes and be going down to the road to the next job , we had a good system .
Did not take much longer a load and hull on a trailer after he got one .
Quite the machine to drive on the road too and not the safest eather .
Hopefully the trencher will keep drying farm land for a lot more years .
That machine should go to some of the old machinery shows , would be a good place to show people how it works and the job that it can do for the farm land .
Good seeing the trencher again !

A pit is much cheaper then having specialists tractor jacks which needs mandatory safety checks yearly, if I decide put pit in, I would also have a sub frame over the pit so I spilt the tractor apart.
