JUst heard this song the first time in my life this evening. I thought Prayer to the Unborn was his best among his best. This is simply beautiful and haunting. Gary Numan one of my most favorite artists of all time.
When my black diesel Corsa had a cd player I would listen to the album Sacrifice. And driving to work 20miles to Sainsbury’s from Watton gave me so much calmness and when this song came on I would be in floods of tears as my dear mum passed away last year and she liked this song. 😢
Gary Numan is the best ever. Just saw him in NC w Ministry and Front Line Assembly and he rocks so dang hard. People who have only heard "Cars" don't know he makes such great industrial goth rock! This is a chill dark tune that is great to work to.
I'm a ghost in the dark and I'm yours. I belong in the past and I'm yours. Like a song you forget, and I'm yours. Like a dream in the night, and I'm yours. The wrong place? The wrong time? I don't know. The wrong face? Yours or mine? I don't know. Like a tear when you sleep, I'll be yours. Like a scar that won't fade, I'll be yours. Like a pain in the cold, I'll be yours. Like a fear in the heart, I'll be yours. The wrong word when you cry I will be Like the seed of a lie I will be Like the germ of disease I will be Like the last one who cared I will be Like your shadow I will haunt you Do you remember? I said to you 'Love is a mountain But harder to climb. It should be forever But love is unkind To me. Don't let me down.' And you let me down.
One of the most beautiful songs that happens to by my idol Gary Numan. Fantastic track as is the whole of Sacrifice. The album that made Numan current again and has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Without any doubt, one of Gary's finest songwriting !!! As lifelong fan,I can't thank him enough for this song !! Its like a "mirror",I'm looking in ... Have to mention, that "Sacrifice" is one of the important albums(for me) of Numan !! Thanx again !!!
Probably my most favorite song of his. Used to listen to this so much when I lived in London in 1995. Hadn't listened to it in a while but it randomly popped into my head again today.
This album is not available on Spotify for some reason, so I come here to TH-cam to listen to it. This was the finest track on the album, IMO, and the album is one of his 10 best (also IMO).
This was numan at his very best.I told him this one night but unfortunately it didn't go down to well & it seems to me he doesn't like the idea that we all have different views of his music.I think he expects us to like everything that he puts out.but my opinion this was his best sound & image ever!
No real carrer in the states but overseas Numan is HOT- I must confess I did not like "cars" his hit in the 80's but the soundtrack for Dawn was amazing!! I love BLEED
Well... I get what you're saying, but to truly understand you need to go back to the mid nineties... First, it's not a drum machine, it's a sampled loop. Secondly, a few years later things like this th-cam.com/video/87029rOg5ic/w-d-xo.html would be released and hailed as genius. This type of thing was all the rage, but like all new technologies it became a bit abused... Back then you could loop a bar or two through the whole song - nowdays you need to be a bit more sophisticated about it.
The album "Sacrifice" was made on a very tight budget, and done with little to no input from anyone else. He wrote, recorded, mixed etc etc, so I give him kudos for getting back up off canvas after repeated bashing from the UK press and releasing an album that started his career swing in the right direction. Funnily enough, after "Exile", I grew bored with his industrial style that has stayed with him up to the present. I get why he does them, it's just not for me. Play on Gary :)
Numan deserves a much larger fanbase, a true artist
Absolutely wonderfully haunting and beautiful song ❤

Il.love.Gary Nman since 1978. GARY is God
It would be so much better without the drum machine, which is also a constant irritant on Exile.
