Over recent years, Monticello has been growing as a bedroom community for people who work in Decatur and Champaign / Urbana. Low crime, good schools, an outstanding medical center, all well worth the commute.
State Street (between 3:22 and 4:28 in the video) was once touted as having 13 millionaires' homes in the early 20th century. One of the mansions (about a half-mile farther down the street) later became Kirby Hospital, long since demolished and replaced. Also, at 6:54, my grandparent's house was just around the corner to the left (it wasn't a mansion, but it still stands!)

Those 2 story houses on the big lots are something to behold.

@@markfisher1392 I was wondering why all those houses were so big! It was a great small town.
