    Some outstanding environments and the footage as per is outstanding, some don't understand the time & effort that goes into it all but it's clear to see, enjoyed all the info section at the end as full of handy tips and it's also clear you guys know your onions.
    Not sure if it's just an age thing but I love the colder climates, colder the better, the second the warm sun shows up now I just overheat, my old mum keeps saying I'm going through the manopause lol.
    Massive thanks again Kim & Del for all your dedication you both put in, I still have a few videos on the channel to see but will watch them in the near future.
    Thank You both.

      Thanks for such wonderful words of appreciation, Gary! It's extra heartening for us to know that you get how much work goes into producing something like this from start to finish. Manopause made us laugh. I feel like I'm always the shade hunter, and Del the sun worshipper, but on frosty mornings like this I am desperate for that sun to warm me! I'll be complaining about it within an hour though 😂
      Cheers for the ongoing support and all the best! Kim

    One of the most challenging but spectacular treks we've done in Georgia! 3 days hiking and camping on the volcanic Keli Plateau. This definitely cemented our love for volcanic landscapes! Hope you enjoy it, and if you fancy doing the hike yourself check out our guide - www.goingthewholehogg.com/kelitsadi-lake-trek/. Cheers! Kim & Del

    Another great hiking vlog! Amazing landscape and Kelitsadi Lake itself is a very stunning scene (watched your drone shots there a few times!!). Appreciate your effort to film and droning all the way, well done to Del, he has patience and passion :-). Day 3 looked really the toughest one so far! Looking forward to your next hike. Although I am not a regular hiker (just a small hiker with my drone), but I do enjoy your vlogs as like movies. Best Wishes!

      Thank you! Yeah, this is a real standout hike for us as far as scenery (and toughness!) goes so far in Georgia. There is a real feeling of remoteness and calm at the lake. Day 3 was definitely made tougher by our late start because we were enjoying the morning so much at our camp. But what a stunner! Thanks for watching and appreciating, as always : ) All the best, Kim

    Another amazing video guys. Also
    reàl challenge in some places. Very mysterious area too. Didn't look like any wildlife in evidence, (not counting the sheep). Having followed most of your travels in Georgia, no wildlife seen at all. Imagined there might have been bears, fox, rabbits etc ?

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yeah, there are bears and wolves in the mountains but they very much keep to themselves and stay away from humans generally. We've seen fresh bear prints on the Tusheti to Pankisi trek though. Birds of prey are the main wildlife we've seen, but they aren't always easy to capture on camera! There are Tur as well around Lagodekhi, but they are hard to spot on the steep mountainsides high up. Vashlovani has a gazelle population, but again we weren't lucky enough to spot them.

  • @alexandermenzies9954
    @alexandermenzies9954 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Another tour de force, Kim and Del. You manage to convey the silence of those places with tremendous feeling. And, paradoxically, even the sound track with its drone adds to that sensation.
    I noticed a filter pouch amongst your gear, do you have a preference for neutral gray grads and if so what edge type (hard, soft, ...), and density stops, is best from your experience of the mountains? (I use a Sony A II.)
    Many thanks, your videos are quite unique.

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Alexander. We really wanted to capture the essence of this landscape, so really happy to read your comment.
      For filters, we have a NiSi 82mm ND-VARIO Pro Nano 5-9 stops Enhanced Variable ND for video, and a NiSi 100x100mm Nano IR Neutral Density filter - ND1000 (3.0) - 10 Stop for long exposure stills (this works with a filter holder). We did have some graduated filters too but we rarely used them and they were too much to carry.

    Super nice video again! Thanks for that. And the cut-performance at the end was the best😅 Not sure if I missed it, but did you mentioned which month you did this trek? Are there even the frosty nights in end of July or August or did you do it in the beginning of the summer season?

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Selma! Yeah, we laughed so hard when we realised we had synchronised our side step completely unintentionally. A ceilidh skit had to be made! We were hiking towards the end of August and were suprised how cold it was at night given the high temperatures at lower elevation. Perhaps it would be warmer in late July/early August, but I'd still plan for cold nights just in case! Kim

    Amazing, thanks so much for your great content! A quick question, we are a group of three pretty fit, but not experienced hikers. We have done the kazbegi glacier hike and it was pretty hard for us. Do you think we could manage this trek, or should we choose an easier one?

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, glad you like it! I would say it's best to choose a different hike, this one is very remote and quite difficult. Better to try this one when you have a bit more experience, especially because you need to carry your camping equipment, food and water for 3 days. Good luck and enjoy your hikes! Kim

    • @gilkaganovich6767

      @@GoingTheWholeHogg Appreciate your reply, Kim! Do you have any recommendations for easier multi-day hikes we could do in September-October? We were thinking mestia-ushguli, or juta-roshka. Thanks!

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gilkaganovich6767 no worries! At that time of year you'll need to check locally about the weather conditions, if there is any snow on the high passes, etc., but yeah Juta to Roshka is beautiful, and Etseri to Ushguli is also great, with guesthouses along the way (so starting before Mestia and crossing Bak Pass to Mazeri, then Gul Pass to Mestia). Borjomi NP is also nice, for example the Panorama Trail (but you'll need some camping gear/sleeping bags for staying in the huts as there aren't any guesthouses). Hope this helps! Cheers, Kim

    hello, amazing video. In june we are going to do this hike ourselves. Do you think its possible to reach the lake in 1 day? we are planning to go really early in the morning.

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! There's still a chance of snow in June, and you should be aware of the possibility of altitude sickness if you plan on going straight to the lake around 3000 metres if you aren't already acclimatised, but yes some people do make it in one day.
