This is a tough song. Musically it's great, but it is such a heavy subject. From what i understand, Till got permission from Elizabeth to write this song, since she is still alive.

This is a rumour. It was released the year Josef was on trial, and Elisabeth has been in a secret location since. No way Till was able to reach her, especially so soon after the incident

In this performance there are no cameras scanning the audience, no crazy antics or goofing off, no pyro. Everyone is concentrated on the music, the song, the performance. Till Lindemann is an awesome singer and an excellent actor you can just feel the anger in his voice.
Till Lindemann literally becomes the person he's singing about. I read where he said he likes to get inside the minds of these sick people and to understand them and why they did whatever they did so in essence he becomes that person. That is why he is so good at what he does.

  • @peekaboosue

Till Lindemann is such an amazing performer.. he is crazy (the good crazy) funny yet serious and so very talented. He pretty much does what he wants, sings about topics that most other artists would never even dare talk about and he doesn't give a damn about what other people think...he is an excellent actor and really gets into the character he's portraying albeit sometimes a little too much but that's just Till.

It's one of those songs that leaves the listener very conflicted. Musically, it's superb, heavy as hell but lyrically, so disturbing and you can see that Till is completely in character. The coaxing nature of the verses, followed by the brutality of the chorus and its delivery and then the manic laughter mid-way through leaves you chilled. Add to that, the back story and it just leaves you pondering your faith in humanity. Welcome to reality is the line that sums up the hopelessness of Elisabeth's situation, knowing that no help was coming. Fritzel still, to this day, maintains that he's done nothing wrong and he was just showing fatherly love to her. I'm a year older than Elisabeth and I could never have imagined being in her position. Tough one to listen to.

The music during the intro is a waltz by Johann Strauss which is also called Wiener Blut.
Rammstein played this one while performing at Madison Square Garden.

Thanks for reacting to this disturbing, yet fascinating song ♥
One of my favourite Rammstein songs. Yes, the topic is dark and disturbing - but it is not that uncommon for Rammstein 😉But musically - oh man, it is so extraordinary! Till screaming, Flake "scratching", Richard's solo and the overall construction of the song is simply unique.
Please react to "Dalai Lama" - one of the least known, yet brilliant songs that also is kinda unique. Educatedmarine created even a video for it, really enjoyable! I'm sure you'll like it, it is based on Goethe's poem and "upgraded" by Till 😎
Enjoy and have a fantastic day! 😊

i love this song, because it's such a dark subject.
this song captures the horror and the feeling of helplessnes the victims must have felt.
hearing about this story in the news i knew it was horrific, but not until hearing this song did i realise how horrific it actually is.
this is pure art. sometimes it makes one feel uncomfortable, and it's beautiful when artists achieve that.

  • @KfromShC

When I saw this live, they had dolls hanging from the ceiling. At the end, when Flake gets his moments, they exploded one by one in the rhythm of the music. That added a lot to the already dark tone.
However, if I don‘t think about the background (which was a truly shocking story widely covered in European media), this would have been the perfect song for the rock‘n‘roller coaster (imagine being launched into the darkness with Till shouting „Willkommen in der Dunkelheit!!!“ - creepy af).

It's hard as f**k, yes it is, but unfortunately it is also reality.
There are so many bands that sing about the sweet life or other cheesy nonsense, we've had enough of them, they lie to us about the beautiful life and we take refuge in this warm, beautiful embrace. 99.99% of all films have a happy ending, people try not to show bad things so as not to spoil the children.
Maybe there needs to be more bands or artists like Rammstein who tell the truth and draw attention to injustices.
Unfortunately, it is still the case that one in five children worldwide is abused. How many children do you know personally? yes, I mean you, who is reading this right now. think about it.

    Hello there. Good reaction.
This is a tough song, regarding the subject matter. Musically superb.
I remember when the horrific story broke. I always found it hard to believe that none of the neighbors rose any suspicion. It might have been the mindset, don't ask don't tell. And the wife was suppose to be clueless as well? It happened in basement of the house she lived in. One foundling on the doorstep maybe, but six? What are the odds of that?
    Anyway I digress.
I listen to the song quite often, because of the energy in the music. And the anger in Till's voice.
And Rammstein wouldn't be Rammstein, if they didn't add a spin on it by telling the story from Fritzl's perspective. A perspective you definitely don't wanna be confronted with.
Which is something they do a lot, tell a story from an angle you don't wanna hear it.
With love from Germany 😎 🤘🏻

    ❣️ Viennese Blood ❣️
Come with me, come to my castle
Fun is waiting there in the basement
Quiet, quiet is what we'll be
    Releasing the moment from time
Yes, paradise lies beneath the house
The door swings shut, the light goes out
    Are you prepared?
    Are you ready?
    Welcome to the darkness
    To the darkness
    Nobody can disturb down here
No one, no one can hear us
No, people will not discover us
    We let life taste good
And when you are alone at times
    I'll plant you a sister
The skin so young, the flesh so firm
Under the house a love nest
    Are you prepared?
    Are you ready?
    Welcome to the darkness
    To the darkness
    In the loneliness
    In the sadness
    For eternity
    Welcome to reality
And are you walking in the deepest valley?(Are you prepared?)
And are you there without light? (Are you ready?)
Fear no misfortune, no agony (prepare yourselves)
I am with you and hold you
I hold you in the darkness
    In the darkness

Hey buddy, are you ok? you look some kind of exhausted. But still - I love your reactions to our german bands, as I told you multiple times on here. Keep going - but take a rest if you need it!
Edit: after watching the whole video - thank you for pointing all these things out, and thank you for taking the educatedmarine-version. I have seen american reactors totally banging their head to this song, which honestly felt totally inappropriate for me as a native German.... Hearing the "I plant you a little sister"-line while someone not checking the background and lyrics of this song and having a blast to that, well... feels very wrong to be honest. Otherwise hey - we all listen to foreign music without always getting the meaning behind it. As a english-starter in school I was happy about 50 Cent let us all licking sugar lollipops :D So no shame to anyone - I am just glad about your reaction, it was 100% real and good the way it was.

Thank you so very much. I was gutted by the songs contents. As a musician, I can go with out understanding lyrics. As I I can take the vocals as an instrument itself. But being made to know what it’s all about before watching the video. Oiy.
As for my well being, thank you for checking in. My baby girl will be here any day now and it’s very hot here in the desert. Lol once she arrives I will be better. Now I May still be tired for awhile having a new born and all. But I will be better. Lol

Actually, crime shouldn't be the basis for a song.
But...these and other crimes are constantly committed behind closed doors and only in the rarest of cases does it become known.
That's exactly why we have to talk about it - make potential victims aware of it and deter potential perpetrators by showing that such crimes will one day be uncovered!
But to be honest, I can't think of any other band than Rammstein to address this!

This hurts so much............ I think it hurt for them to even do this...... it hurts too much to think about that kind of evil...... but we have to be aware this is out there. And yes, good and normal day by day, but this........ wow.

  • @uniquename111
    @uniquename111 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I prefer that they talk about it or in this case sing about it so that people will not turn the other way but instead be aware and hopefully save more of the children being abused. If we try to hide it because it is so dark and disturbing then more kids will not get away form their abuser.

Well I agree with Ron that evil exists out there but I still remember when this got in the news and I thought that Austrians must really be fed up with being associated with all the monsters that hail from there (if you get the wordplay, you know...).
