I have no idea how people don't investigate before saying its true. If the sun set like that you'd hear about ISS seeing more then 200 sunrises and sunsets and not 16.
Isn't it crazy how one person's worst nightmare would be another person's best dream come true? My whole life I've dreamed of getting to space walk. I commend Jack for facing a giant fear!
Depending on the day, either you couldn't pay me to do it, or I would jump at the opportunity. I guess it depends on my anxiety levels on any particular day
I noticed in game his hands were shaking! Aw! Heights are definitely scary for me as well but I’m more like this with anything shark related. Somehow my family convinced me to try a vr shark attack game and it was the worst experience in my life 😬

I got myself a rift a few years ago and this was one of the things I tried. I was living at a school dorm at the time, and lots of People visited my room to try it out themselves. This included the dorm manager, who had worked as a professional pilot for years and always dreamt of going to space. He was absolutely amazed by it. A little later he held a daily meeting for all dorm members, starting it with the line "15 minutes ago, I was orbiting the earth on the ISS." He talked about it for almost 15 minutes. Everyone thought he had finally lost it haha. Great times
that looking at the sky and feeling like you're gonna fall feeling is so relatable I never knew jack could be relatable and I have a great fear of heights just like jack
Just like MS Flight Simulator has actual volunteer tower control, for realism, this could be an option, down the road. A few people in "Houston", and a few others that log in as additional astronauts, and have to perform various missions. Beside that, at least he calmed so ewhat by grounding himself to the room. And to think, this was just VR, and two controllers, and NOT the real thing. Astonauts, are superheroes. As he said.
Ditto. I've felt the exact same sensation of . . . sorta vertigo, I guess, of just looking up at the sky and suddenly feeling kinda weightless, like I've lost my balance almost. It's been a long time, admitedly, but . . . yeah.
@Clear Melody it's almost like realizing you are "magnetized" to the earth. And earth isn't the down you fall, out is where you fall. The true fear isnt falling towards earth, but falling away from it. It's like looking up at a clear sky, day or night, your mind somehow perceives the movement and your mind gets vertigo because it's a subconscious perception not a conscious one. So even though your body doesn't feel movement, your mind does, its realizing you are on a huge ball that rotating. Like when you are in one vehicle standing still next to another vehicle and that vehicle starts to move and you automatically brace because you think tour vehicle is moving.
@@frostfang1 Agreed! Lol fearing of 💫 falling into the sky 💫 sounds so stupid but I’ve had dreams abt it when I had to hold onto a lamppost or some shit for dear life, or when I was little I’d sit upside down on sofa and pretend I was walking in the ceiling and get a jolt as if I was abt to fall bc I’d be doing it for a while then suddenly realised oh fuck- 😂but now I genuinely hate/ fear it and I agree with the feeling magnetised to the earth and like either you about to fall or slide right off it ✨
He should have had a heartbeat monitor on for this. This is also one of my worst fears. I've had nightmares centered around falling into black holes and it is absolutely terrifying.
I’ve just now realised Jack’s fear of heights is so much worse than mine. I’d be ok with a space walk because I know there’s not really any gravity in space that won’t pull me down, but heights on the planet terrify me purely for the feeling that gravity is going to pull me down and I’d die. Jack, you’re not a lunatic. I can’t watch things with heights where I can see how far up I am because I feel like I’ll fall.
To be honest, I feel more scared knowing that there's no gravity to tether me in space. Just the fact that I a misstep ot something can lead to me floating endlessly in a vacuum is horrifying
I’ve always been terrified of space because of the lack of oxygen and the pressure. Like… one tiny hole in your space suit or a window cracking or running out of energy and suddenly your eyes are turning to mush and you’re freezing and burning simultaneously while your breath is sucked out… floating in space endlessly with nothing to grab onto…. No thanks
Aye, anyone facing their fears from Phobias and confronting them are absolute legends. Anyone, really, who has gathered enough courage and support and who gives support to them are fucking legends. To me, they're not insane, they're not lunatics or stupid. They're people that want to overcome it because there're times their own fears affect their quality of life. Then again it just points out that people who rise from struggles have my utmost respect.
That actually makes sense. I have a bit of a fear about some accident and floating away missing every chance to grab safety. And the ship gets smaller and smaller. I dunno if I'd actually react to vr or not, but I'm curious. I know begs or spiders would though. D:
I did genuinely feel bad that Jack was so scared, but at the same time I haven't laughed this hard in a while. I know I'd be too scared to play this tho
I’m like 1 minute in to the video and him talking about lying on the ground looking at the sky and feeling like he’s going to fall off hits me so hard, I don’t like heights either and I’ve definitely had that feeling.
I'm so glad he mentioned that he felt like looking at the sky makes him feel like he's going to fall off the earth! I live in a part of southern California will many mountains and hills, and so when I visited a place with NO MOUNTAINS OR VALLEYS, I had a strange experience of looking up as the sky and across the horizon, and suddenly needing to squat down and put my hands on the earth because I felt exactly like that: like I was about to fall of the face of the earth and into the sky. My heart was even beating really fast and I had to remind myself to be a rational person lol
If you've watched the Sci-Fi series The Expanse, in one of the episodes one of the characters who has lived her whole life underground on Mars on in spacecraft is standing on the surface of the Earth and the sight of the sky gave her crippling vertigo
Oh my god, I thought I was the only one that had that, "Look up at the sky too much and feel like you're gonna fall off the earth." feeling. A year or so late to this, but good on you for doing your best with this game Sean!
"Looking up at the sky and I'm afraid of falling off the earth." Same. Literally. I thought I was the only one who experienced that feeling. It's absolutely terrifying. I'm right there with you.
@Cosmic I mean, you right he probably is in hell, unless he believed in God. But because Sean doesn't I don't know if his dad did. But if his dad went to laugh at least Sean and his dad can reunite. I do love Sean, really unfortunate that he's a atheist. And what you say is very disrespectful.
@@mehganmiah I have a quest 2 and you get pretty use to scary or games high up in the sky when you play a lot. Like I'm addicted lmao, I feel like duckyy just hasn't experienced it before.
Had no idea there was a name for it! For me, it's not so much a "fear" as it is a weird sort of vertigo. If I lie down and look up at the sky too long, I start to feel really dizzy and uneasy. Not sure if that's in the same umbrella or something different, tho lol
The fact that he finished the game is amazing. He is terrified of heights and yeah, his yelling is funny, but he could have absolutely stopped and be valid for it. Good job, Sean.
I don't have this fear only because I have really shit eyes and I can't look up at the sky without being in immense pain and losing the ability to see colour or at all 😑
I think this is why they have the astronauts train in that deep submerged pool so you get that sensation instead of the falling sensation when you're out in space. If they threw them to the wolves without that step in between, they'd probably all have Sean's panic attacks.
Well not that fast, its once every 45 minutes not every 45 seconds, they really took a moment that shouldve been awe inspiring and amazing and just said make the sun fly off the screen, no biggie. What a massive let down and waisted potential.
I could feel the anxiety radiating off of Jack and I completely understand how he feels. And honestly I'm so proud of him for doing this because I would legit start crying if I played this
@@Horizon_Sounds People have different fears that aren't necessarily due to cowardice, but are more just how they are. I'm with Jack. I can't even handle being on a plane let alone 250 MILES above Earth in outer freaking space. Yeah I'm good. There is not enough money in the world to make me do something like that EVER.
Fun fact: when you are “floating” in space, you are actually in a constant free fall. I hope one day I can go into space to experience this phenomenon for myself
I've dreamed of going to space ever since I was a kid. And I still dream about it. It's my number 1 goal in life. I hope you get to go to space in the future too.
The brain has a hard time understanding fiction vs. reality. As far as Jack/Sean's instincts are concerned; he just did a space walk. I'd love to see someone make gentle exposure therapy VR games for common phobias.
As someone who is also terrified of heights and who has recently played VR for the first time, it is actually fucking terrifying. I don’t even see how It could possibly be turned into therapy because it just GIVES you fear, instead of overcoming it.
I have a severe needle phobia and have to give myself weekly shots. I got to a point I was so scared to take the shots I was skipping them which obviously wasn't good. I used a couple of other sensory methods (music, a little plastic patch with small spikes to distract the nerves in the injection site) but I also used VR to get over the fear of just seeing a needle and practiced the motions of giving myself the shots without the "threat" so help ease myself into taking them. I've not been giving myself shots again for the past month! I also have a horrible fear of heights, much like Jack I also feel like I am going to fall if i look at the sky for too long. I can't even get up on a step stool without a little worry I'll fall and hurt myself. I started using VR for that as well and have gotten to where I can fly decently in VR without fear. I haven't seen how my fear is irl now but I bet I can at least get up on a small ladder now lol

No thanks
Saammee, I’d go to space even if I’m scared of heights on earth
Aye, anyone facing their fears from Phobias and confronting them are absolute legends. Anyone, really, who has gathered enough courage and support and who gives support to them are fucking legends.
To me, they're not insane, they're not lunatics or stupid. They're people that want to overcome it because there're times their own fears affect their quality of life. Then again it just points out that people who rise from struggles have my utmost respect.
