Those are the best kind. Back at ya. ✌ Oh yeah, my current wedges are Mizuno JPX. Their a little bit tough on me sometimes, but when they're good, they're real good. It's been so wet this past year though that I think picking up a sand and gap wedge with a little more bounce might not be bad things to have around.
I'd be interested in hearing about your least-favorite clubs, or at least clubs you think Ams shouldn't be buying (although I realize that's a bit mean!). I feel like hearing what's wrong is sometimes as helpful as hearing what's right.
I bought the Ping Glides to but just before this lockdown only got to use the 56 at the range but loved it. Can't wait for Boris to release us so I can go out n practice and play with the 50 & 56 though not got the 60 I may go for the Mizuno here as reviews have been good
Pete, maybe do a video on your move? Just let us know if you’re permanently relocated or just til the craziness is over. Perhaps you should invite Rick to come spend a week with you. Poor guy is taking walks with his clubs.
@@paulmcgee1867 so far they are wearing particularly well. I can see needing to replace the grips that comes stock with the clubs within perhaps 6 months if you play regularly, but aside from that the spin and feel from these wedges is pretty good. Especially for the price
Y to Y is what we teach in the First Tee for putting & chipping, L to L for pitch shots. I think this helps a lot of newer golfers understand the swings. Cheers Peter.
Because my wedge gets abused alot... (I like being in the bunker/rough) I use a 64 degree slazenger v100. And yes the first outing it went from black to chrome. Its my magical colour changing wedge.
Still got my trusty Cleveland RTX 2.0 - 50 Cb, 54 & 58. They were a prize for entering a comp with today’s golfer! Full day playing and fitting at Woburn! EPIC! I know you like that place as well Pete. I should really look to change as these are now many years old but I’ve not noticed any drop in performance and I have so much confidence in them so I don’t want to lose them haha
I've played Titleist, Callaway and Cleveland wedges and have to say, bagged the Cobra MIM Black wedges last season and those have been hands down my favorites, really happy I gave them a chance rather than turning a blind eye to them.
In my bags, for now, have Cleveland CBX 50°, Cleveland 54 and 58 RTX3 in black finish. Love Cleveland wedge, much simple to hit and with more feel respect my old sm7 vokey
Recently purchased a 58 degree wedge from Haywood Golf (being from Vancouver, I was happy to support a local manufacturer!) - it's too cold here to try it out yet, but looks-wise it's very sharp - can't wait till Spring arrives to back on the course! If it impresses, may look into their Signature Irons next...
Bought RTX Zipcore wedges in 50, 54, 58. My firts Brand new wedges after 5 years with my 2nd Hand ones. Loving them, first time that i'm getting real spin around the green.
Got myself 52, 56 and 60 degree Vokey wedges from Lou’s golf shop in Carrollton TX for $150 for the set. Slightly different ages/conditions but have served me well. Finally admitting I need help in the sand so a Cleveland Smart Sole 4 S is going in the bag as well.
I noticed Rick did a review of the Costco Kirkland wedges. He gave them a rating of a 9. They are 159 for gap, 56 and 60. Wouldn’t that be a great choice for the average golfer. ?
At the moment I am using the Callaway Mac daddy MD5 wedges in 48, 52, 56 and 60 degree. I love them as they give me the perfect ball flight and give me the spin I personally need for my game!
Good vlog Peter, excellent explanation of the use / design of wedges. My current weapon [wedge] of choice around the greens is a Titleist BV SM7 50deg. It worked well for me during the times I could play in 2020. I may give my Cobra 56deg some non-bunker use this year just to see how it performs for me. Cheers
The CBX Zipcore is a great wedge for the average golfer, in my opinion. Very nice performance....and nice base for forgiveness. Just very reliable wedges.
Finally got new wedges this year: because my PW is 43* I got fitted for a 48,54,58. The 54 is bent to 53. Zipcore for the 48 and MD5 Jaws for the 54, 58. All three are dark to match my Apex 19 Smoke irons.
@peterfinchgolf wedge selection is such a personal preference. There is no cookie cutter “this wedge is for you”. 90% of people are playing the wrong wedges.
Got those aswell... Initially just got the Mizuno's over other brands because I got fitted for MP20s and got a deal on them but I have to say, having played loads of other wedges prior to them, they are easily the best wedges I've ever played...
I went and got fitted at Precision Golf last July. My old Cleveland wedges had 4000rpm, which is a standard 4iron spin! Also, 14° of bounce on the sand wedge... which was not right for me at all. Got 11,200rpm with the Cobra wedges! Tried 7 heads, and the final choice was between Ping Glide 3 or the Glide forged. Total buyer's choice, as they were so similar. Went for the forged and they're lovely. 50°, 56° bent to 55° and 60°, with kbs c-taper lite stiff shafts. Just wish I was able to get on a golf course!
I'm using MP-T5's in 50 and 54 and, very happy to see you talk about it, a TM 60 degree Hi Toe Bigfoot, and as you say it's a great all round wedge, so versatile.
I am using Mizuno S18 wedges. They are sooo underrated. Got them new for under 100 bucks each more than a year ago. The 48 degree in blue, 54 degree in black and 58 degree in chrome.
Cleveland 53 didic 56 58 dsg 60 485. Either 53 58 or 53, 56, 60. I hunt 2nd hand. Not so worried about spin more about confidence and feel. Once you know how they spin you can play the shot you need to the way you need to.
Fantastic advice. If I follow the Titleist advice of updating every 75 rounds, my wedges would cost me A$1 per hit. If I get them for around half price then I'll do it.
Callaway wedges are my favorite. The funny thing is, they are the only Callaway clubs I can stand. I'm currently playing Mack Daddy V4's in 54 and 58 degree. Before that I was playing the Forged in the copper finish which were outstanding. It makes sense, cause I used to love Cleveland, and Roger is at Callaway now
Originally started with the wedges that came with my Wilson Staff Di5 irons, 44°, 50°, 55° and 60°. But then replaced the 55° sand wedge, (which I couldn't hit worth beans!) with a Cleveland 588. A few years later I replaced that with the 56° Cleveland CG15 which I've really enjoyed using out of the bunker.... but not so much from tight lies or heavy rough! Bought the Kirklands but ended up returning them because of the lack of any noticeable grind on the soles. Just bought the Cleveland CBX2 in 56° and 60° and will get the 52° before next season. Really looking forward to having some descent matching wedges.
Another great video, don’t tell rick shiels but you’re becoming my favourite 🤫 got a TM milled grind 58°, mizuno 55° TM M6 A wedge 49° and a 45° TM rsi1 PW
Great content young man! I had been struggling with wedge choices a while back and settled on the Cleveland CBX wedges in 50, 54, & 60. I got them with the graphite shafts thinking they would be easier on a senior golfer with old injuries. I was wrong! They were stiff as a cured oak slab and actually hurt to hit them, shoulders crying out in pain kid of hurt! Had those shafts yanked out and replaced with Nippon Zelos 7 shafts in A flex, and wow! Night and day difference to say the least. I can practice/play with these wedges for hours now and walk away happy, and perhaps a wee bit smug ;) No more pain and it's like throwing darts, easy peasy. As a disclaimer, myself and all my golf mates live here in the Philippines and still golfing at least 3-4 rounds per week. Not really much difference now vs pre pandemic. If this crap ever goes away, and things get back to normal, come on over for a well deserved holiday, and bring Rick with you. You'll have the time of your lives! ;)
Very helpful. Thanks. I got new Ben Ross senior wedges (part of the set) and a 60 degree Ping wedge given to me as a gift by my friendly Pro as I am his keen student of teaching team. God bless.
Currently running all second hand wedges, 50 degree titleist BV forged, 54 degree titleist vokey tvo54, and 60 degree callaway mack daddy forged. I feel at my current handicap I have plenty of growing room with these wedges.
Really enjoyed this video, great tips for a beginner like myself. I went for a golf lesson yesterday for my short game, the game taught me the clock system and pointed out I was chicken wing swinging my wedges lol. Now it's fixed I'll be getting all the birdies at the weekend 🙄
Love playing with wedges. Thats how I got inn to golf in the first place. My mate took me out on a short 9 hole corse witch vary from just 40 meters up too 120 meters. Great wedge training and loads of fun. ❤️ Favorite is sm6, 60dgre, 4 bounce. 🙂
As I am a high handicapper I got the Texan Classics Gun Metal Wedge very cheap as I don't need the ball to spin back 10 yards as I am lucky to get it up near the green in the first place
Another great video Pete! Jealous of you soaking up the sun and swinging the bats about! Callaway Jaws MD5 going in my bag ready for coming out of lockdown 50,54 and 60 all with 10deg bounce. Absolutely love the premium look of them and the electric blue grips on the dynamic gold s200 shafts!
I just got a Lazrus wedge set off Amazon for $110 cause I only had an old gap and didn’t wanna pay $300+ for a set. They perform great for me and they definitely look and feel more quality than the price. I was an 8 handicap and quit playing for awhile and just lost some clubs here and there which is why I only had a gap and these have helped me back down to single digits.
i have the stix 52 56 and 60 im a beginner golfer only been playing about a month and a half but i really like the clubs nice feel to me and not a bad price
Vokeys and the MD CBs are my favourites the cbs have proved to me what Vokey says about grind being more important. Have too an old Ping 48 which is very nice. Also have a look at second hand and Inesis
Currently using T20, but really like the look and reviews on the ES21. Do have a old sm6 that I felt like I could never miss with. But fitting went mizuno
Hey karl....i have been looking at the ES21 s also... i really like what the engineers have done with the two piece design actually moving the cog away from the heel and raising it a bit. it just makes so much more sense....but jeepers creepers they want to get paid ....right at the $200 price range but like TXG reviews stated....it's part of the lowest hanging fruit for improving your score...hope you find the wedges magical...
I've got 3 wedges in my bag: TaylorMade RBZ Pitching Wedge TaylorMade RBZ Sand Wedge Cobra PUR 60 degree Wedge The Pitching and Sand wedges were in the set when I brought the irons so they might be getting upgraded over this year or next year
Thanks Pete. I have a Cleveland RTX4 58 degree. Need a couple more with different lofts to complete my bag. Preferably I’d like to get three vokey SM8 wedges. Can’t go wrong with a vokey. Or so I’ve been told. I’ve only been playing golf for a year.
Very informative, i can't wait to get back out to golf and try my new Callaway MD4, 54 and 58, they were ex demo clubs at a very good price and awesome condition..!
I've got Ben Sayers xf pro, really nice milled face and great feel. Absolute bargain. Performed much better than my old mizuno wedges showing the value of new wedges and how good they are.
Peter, excellent work. Really enjoyed the video, loved the combo of some club comparisons and a little technique input of how to better play the shot. Really kept my attention for the full length of the vid. Keep smashing it. Ohhh and I have a Cleveland CBX2 that I will be trying the Y swing.
Hey all, giving everyone a big socially distanced golf hug ❤️
Still waiting for our rendezvous in the premier inn

Ping Glides 3.0. I was blown away as they felt like a hot knife to room temperature butter and their forgiveness. Great wedges!!

Great video Pete! Really good explanation of the wedges. I use callaway wedges myself and love them. Keep the content coming please.
I currently have a 52, 58 degree milled grind 2
So happy when I saw the notification for the video
I carry a ping glide 2 Stealth in 56 degree with eye's sole and a ping glide 3 in 50 degree standard sole. They truly glide through the grass! Cheer's
Very informative, i can't wait to get back out to golf and try my new Callaway MD4, 54 and 58, they were ex demo clubs at a very good price and awesome condition..!
Great vlog Pete and currently using Callaway Mac Daddy 2 and also Cobra Pur wedges
I've got Ben Sayers xf pro, really nice milled face and great feel. Absolute bargain. Performed much better than my old mizuno wedges showing the value of new wedges and how good they are.
I’m using Taylor made rac wedges recently purchased for £30 each and pop up lovely
Thanks Pete great info as usual I need a new set of wedges still unsure of what to go for .
