Fun fact her debut album (which contains SHOW ME LOVE) is really r&b oriented and was produced in sweeden in 95 which is incredible for the time to have producers outside of the USA creating such an american r&b sound. Especially for 1995.
This was her second big single after her debut single, "Do You Know (What it Takes)? in 1997. That one has an irresistible synth melody and bassline. Sweden has always churned out some great pop music: ABBA, Roxette, Ace of Base, Robyn, etc.
Yesss! Robyn! Love this. I remember first seeing this video/song as a kid. Robyn is the real deal. Dancing on My Own is my ultimate favorite Robyn song!
This song takes me back to the debut of “Dawson’s Creek” (Savage Garden’s “Truly Madly Deeply” was a hit @ the same time as Robyn’s song). Anyway, I respect Robyn’s longevity bc it’s like she’s had 3 careers since “Show Me Love”. Shout out to the fans of “Fembot” (I know “Dancing On My Own” is the signature tune from BTP1). Lastly, in the 90’s, there was sometimes confusion with THIS song and Robin S’ “Show Me Love” esp @ karaoke bars. 😂
One thing about Robyn, she'll make catchy pop or something electronic you can dance your ass off to but those vocals remain soulful. "Show Me Love" is the second US single from her debut album, Robyn Is Here (1995); she wrote it with Max Martin (best known for his production work on hits by Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Celine Dion, and countless others). The song peaked at #7 on the Hot 100, going gold in the process. It currently remains her last top-10 single and last charting single on the Hot 100. Please react to Robyn - "Do You Know (What It Takes)."
Dude, the 90s were awesome. I remember it very very well The Walkmen When we had cassette tapes and then CDs And we had to have the anti-shock on the Discman If you didn’t have that, and you bumped the Portable CD player it would skip we had booklets where we could put the CDs in and zip it up and throw it in your backpack. We didn’t have to worry about texting people. We would literally pass notes in class and study hall we would usually fold it into a paper football and flick it Sometimes directly to the person that we wanted it to go to, or we would have to pass it off to other people to get to that person. That’s how we communicated back in the day. You would’ve loved the 90s early 2000s things were so much more chill back then🤘
At first, I was like, "That's not Robin S." I'm a little familiar with Robyn's music. In this song I hear similarities to Janet's "Got 'til it's Gone" and / or Des'ree "Feel So High" during the verses a little.
If you listen carefully, it sounds quite similar to Britney Spear's "Hit Me Baby (One More Time)". That's because the producer, Max Martin, work on both artistes,

This is a late 90s bop
This girl has such integrity. She’s scandal free since the 90s. Proud of her.
Thank you Jack. ❤
Robyn went hard. I remember this song from my tween days.

The 90s was such a great time to grow up. It was very carefree and fun. This song reminds me of that time.
💯

A*Teens, Bosson, etc...
Robyyyyynnn... She is do talented. I love this woman. She dont get the love she fully deserves
I don’t know what’s in the water in Sweden, but they just understand pop music. This has Max Martin written all over it.
Yes he wrote it. Him and his team. It's crazy because they wrote a lot of songs that he wanted to give TLC but they turn them down.

Dancing on My Own is my ultimate favorite Robyn song!
Robyn's "Do you really want me remix" is still in heavy rotation in my house!
The urban mix? Aka the one they used to play on BET lol

She has a few bangers. I love Call Your Girlfriend and Dancing on my own from her 2010 album. I think she's from Sweden

That whole album is good 🔥
Yes!
She reminds me of pink and Lisa Stanfield. And the spice girls. Even JoJo

My song!
Check out “you’ve got that something” man she’s got soul!!!

Big fan of your reactions. As bizarre as it sounds, this song singlehandedly launched Britney Spears. Look it up.
