I related to this video hard lol. My home office has all of my best items displayed and signed posters framed etc. Growing up, I could never sell anything and could never throw Kiss related packaging away. It's a strange disease lol. I do not have any personal friends who happen to be fans of the band. Most people are not used to someone having an actual collection of anything that is displayed. After looking at how well organized I have it displayed, people seem to understand and actually think its impressive. Shows like this is where I can find people who speak my language. Great stuff

Hey Jason , Hearing about your parents, no siblings, selling your childhood home all hit close to home with me, thank you for sharing and letting people like me know that they’re not alone with why we acquire certain things to honor and celebrate cherished memories.

Joe,Jason, and Nicholas.......great discussion on collecting.Im a long time fan of you channel. I'm a 55 yr old KISS fan and have collected since I was 7 yrs old. After all these years I have come to my justification of collecting is just the thrill of doing something you enjoy.Whether it be collecting whatever, bird watching, stamp, coin etc.My favorite point you guys brought up was the point of sharing with other ppl that also has same intrests. If something makes you happy in life just do it as long as it has no negative effect to others........much luv have a great KISSMAS

Excellent episode guys!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was one of the best discussions I’ve seen on collecting in general. I could totally relate to this!! I’m 56, and collecting things from your childhood really brings me happiness!!! Jason, at some point early in 2025, I’m going to PM you about your opinion on a couple KISS collectables if that’s ok? Love the show guys!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Condolences to Greg's family and friends. It's always sad when we lose a member of the KISS Army family.

Great discussion. It's interesting because I still consider myself a KISS collector but I haven't bought a piece for ages. I have focussed on the vintage stuff and at this stage I'm happy with what I have. I go into my KISS room pretty much every day and get satisfaction that way. So if I never buy another piece, I'm good.

Christmas came early this year! Whether or not you guys decide to up your output makes no matter. Any new episode of KMK is a treasure worth waiting for. Your dry humor is the secret ingredient that makes all other KISS podcasts PALE in comparison. CHEERS!

Always happy to see another episode drop. Really enjoyed the discussion and always appreciate the witty banter. I’m with you Jason..I’m just a sentimental fool that romanticizes my childhood (which KISS was a big part of) and so collecting takes me back to a simpler, happy time in my life. I’ve amassed a pretty big collection at this point and, honestly, I can’t imagine ever selling it, though I know that would mean leaving my family with a huge burden once I’m gone. What can I say, it’s the collector’s curse.
By the way, congratulations on those new acquisitions. You’ve got some beauties there.
    Two quick questions…
    1) Was there an issue with the 50th anniversary Hotter than Hell shirts? I only ordered one copy of the gold vinyl version (which hasn’t arrived yet) but I received one shirt, and then a few weeks later a second one. I thought it seemed strange that they would send two on one order and just figured it was a mistake, but was there a misprint on the first run? I haven’t opened either of them yet so I wouldn’t know.
    2) What’s the best way to submit ideas for upcoming shows? For starters, I’d love to see a KISS My Wax episode devoted to Hotter than Hell similar to the Rock And Roll Over one that was done recently. It would be a cool way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of my favorite KISS albums.
    Either way, keep them coming!

I'm with Jason, a lot of it for me is just nostalgic at this point. I became a fan in 88'. I was super excited to get the HITS bundle, simply for the poster inside. That same photo session was on my wall (as a magazine centerfold), when I was 15, so to be able to buy something similar at 50, just feels full circle. Makes this whole thing 'mean' something. Great episode. Happy Holidays to you all. Take care.

Good to see you guys back & a really interesting discussion to say the least. I've recently found myself in a situation very similar to what Joe put forth during the show. My mother died in August, which, of course, was devasting. However, when clearing out her house (not my childhood home, thankfully), I found a foot locker filled with coins & currency that my late father (who passed nearly ten years ago) had collected. I had completely forgotten about him having collected all of this stuff, and apparently my mom just kept the entire thing in a storage space under the stairs. When I first found it and tried to lift (or even move) the thing, it would not budge. Once I opened it and saw the contents, my immediate reaction was "WTF am I going to do with this shit?" I'm quite sure some (if not most) of it is pretty valuable, but I myself have zero insight into that world and surely any "expert" that I take the stuff to would know that and lowball me. So there it sits in my basement, just like it sat under my mom's stairs since my dad died. So I'm living exactly what Joe is predicting that our family / loved ones will be living with if we hang onto our mega-valuable collections! It's truly something to think about, that's for sure. Thanks for the episode, gents.

I was a HUGE He-Man/Masters of the Universe collector back when i was a wee lad. I had EVERYTHING...but the day it stopped was when they released that hundred dollar castle playset ETERNIA. There was NO WAY my parents were gonna pay over hundred dollars for a He Man related castle playset. That was the only thing i never owned. I still have everything in storage. Both castles included. Now back in the day...we had the BEST TOYS

Collecting is an addiction was for me from 1996 until around 2007 - had to stop - I have to watch vicariously what others have now. Videotaped my collection years ago - so now that I am moving and downsizing beyound belief I've given some stuff away to the thrift stores, bartered some for house repairs, and just hoping I can find someone nearby who will buy one big bin of vintage Japan and other countries mags and pick it up before I move - otherwise it's gonna end up on a porch that is not air conditioned - and in FL the summer heat will destroy them :( Good episode though - and so true you have to show the stuff to others - it makes you happy.

Jason, be careful of the posters fading when exposed to direct sunlight. Put a shade on that window.

The cost of collecting for the UK Glam Rock/New Romantic band Japan has escalated in recent years seeing as they split in 1982 it seems that peoples interest in collecting them is peaking. A few years back you could pick up most things fairly cheap, now the more rare items have tripled in price, all this for a band who broke up 42 years ago

This episode was worth the wait! I'm always fascinated by the trajectories of other KIϟϟ collectors. I joined the KIϟϟ Army when I was 5 and saw the Dynasty tour at 8, collecting the army kits and anything I could through those magic years of the band. Then when I was 10, we lost everything in a house fire. That trauma turned me into a packrat, but when I finally got my pinball machine about 5 years ago, it flipped a switch in me & I realized that so much of my stuff was no longer important to me now that I had my holy grail. I narrowed my collecting focus to the Dynasty concert ephemera that burned up in the fire, but the search has proven difficult--Cicchini isn't ready yet! 😁 So if any of you know where I can find a Silverdome '79 ticket stub,*please* let me know. And now, my focus has shifted again...I lost my partner to brain cancer in March and, in order to heal, I must take the space that was ours for almost 30 years and redefine it as mine. I see no better way to do that than unroll all the posters that have been in boxes for all those years. It's time to decide which ones belong on my walls and which ones will get me closer to some of the childhood keepsakes I've lost. With patience and luck, my fellow soldiers in the KIϟϟ Army will help make it happen, as they always have. In a sense, we march along together...thanks for that, guys!❤️🤘🏻

I'm with Joe when he talks about the endgame of collecting. I am under no illusions that my kid will stick it all on eBay (it is still exists) and/or binning it. For those reasons, that's why nothing stay sealed or locked away. Everything I buy, I play, read, watch and use. I want to enjoy it whilst I'm here. When I'm dead? Do what you like with my collection... because then it's just... stuff. It has none of the meaning that I imbue it with.

Interesting discussion re. the future of collecting Kiss stuff. In ten years time I can't see there being any kind of demand for most things. I have only a modest collection and have never sold a Kiss item as I enjoy having the vinyl but the other stuff has been stored away for decades so I am beginning to think do I need it? No! 🙂
