Yay, Nightwish from Tampere 2000. It's a good concert and worth watching.
Beauty and the Beast, Dead to the World (a staple at the time but disappeared now), Wild Child (ditto) and Over the Hills are all in that concert.
I'm not keen on Slaying The Dreamer in that concert but you do get Tarja versions of She is My Sin and Sleeping Sun.
Thanks as ever for getting to some of the lesser-played songs.
Troy didn't play as a session musician with them until 22 Oct 2005 IIRC. This was a real flute, not a whistle (flute is a transverse instrument blown across the hole, while whistles are straight and blown into the mouthpiece) and the flautist was Esa Lehtinen.
Bass here was Sami Vanska. He was known by Tuomas, Emppu and Jukka and when Nightwish was formed Tuomas naturally asked Sami to join as bass
Tuomas had joined in before in Sami's band at the time, Nattvindens Grat so knew his style.
Sami also eventually became the unwitting cause of the near break-up of the band and Tuomas fired him in the end, resulting in the arrival of the great Marco Hietala, whom all the band knew of and regarded as one of the legends of Finnish metal at the time

Aww! Thank You for the fun facts. This brief glimpse into their history is very interesting for sure. This was definitely another fun reaction. It was by luck I happen to find this clip. Let see what other reaction I will do in the future. ☺️

@@lauraa.musiccorner1 Yes well I'm not sure what came over my brain there.
      The actual setlist goes:
      She is My Sin
      Gethsemane
      The Kinslayer
      Deep Silent Complete (worth watching)
      The Pharaoh Sails to Orion
      Come Cover Me
      Wanderlust
      Crimson Tide Deep Blue Sea
      Swanheart (yes!)
      Elvenpath
      FantasMic
      Dead Boy's Poem (prefer Floor)
Sacrament of Wilderness (staple, but rare now, good song even giving its name to an early tour)
Walking in the A ir (yuk)
Beauty and the Beast (Tuomas singing part replaced by Tony Kakko)
      Wishmaster
      Sleeping Sun
The recording itself is fine, 560p so maybe just the version you found was fuzzy for some reason.

If you haven't yet, I recommed you watch:
NIGHTWISH - SLAYING the DREAMER Live Montreal 2004
The whole band, except for Jukka for obvious reasons, are headbanging like never before or ever since. Especially Tuomas, it looks unhealthy, dangerous.
There are two videos: On Metallwish channel (A I remastered by a fan) ,and on Tarja&NightwishHD channel, in this one the camera zooms on Tuomas while he is headbanging. Starting around 2.50 mark or so.
At first I thought the two videos were from the same concert, but no, they had two gigs, consecutive nights. Tarja wore black and red and then red and black. Jukka's head scarf was black one night and red the other night.

I am glad you did this song. You don't see Tuomas coming behind his keyboard and headbanging no more. Beside that, this is a great song, but very underrated imo. Troy wasn't in the band at that time to my knowledge

I did noticed it but the second time he jumped off and finished off the head banging with Tarja. 😂 It was so fun to watch.
