Something I’d like to add is Louis giving up his leg to Legosi was symbolic of him accepting his fate as an herbivore and using that role for good. Prior to this he did everything in his power to deny his identity as an herbivore, being a strong leader, eating meat, hiding any weakness. While he asked Legosi to eat him/offer his body parts to eat before they were more like passive teases, knowing Legosi didn’t have the guts to do it and tried to negg him into it. Additionally, I believe the consequences afterward were very emblematic of the Herbivore-centered society. The law criminalizes carnivores and carnivore-like behavior while praising the opposite. And considering Legosi versus Louis’s reputations prior, it makes sense that Louis wouldn’t be punished and Legosi would get a criminal record.
Let’s get that melon video my dude. He’s becoming a better and better villain especially after the latest chapter.

Gouhin's methods to deal with troublesome carnivores would, without a doubt, be better than Legosi's brilliant idea of "let's fight each other to death on new year's eve".

I don’t think this is the last arc, as there is one type of villain still not done; herbivore.
Beastars is set in a currently herbivore dominated society with powerful (and racist) herbivore led conglomerates, like Louis’s father and fiancé.
We still have to tackle that side of the societal problem.

Oh boy, a Melon video could be pretty interesting. And by that I mean I wonder how accurate you'll be since the arc is currently ongoing. Just a week ago we just got to delve deeper into what made Melon become like this. Our perception of the character can change within a single chapter. Paru is good at it. But I'll be looking forward to it! Really love your stuff!
I have one request, though. Please give some kind of warning when you spoil other shows. I'm currently catching up on JoJo. I am in part 4. And I really did not want to know about what you said in 6:25.

I'm so happy that you talked about the "Beastars" chapter--it's such a perfect parallel to Gosha and Yafya's partnership, too. Legosi fulfilling the promise and potential of his grandfather, it's amazing. It makes me want to read Japanese, too--I wonder how the plural changes the word, that it sounds so foreign to Louis.
This is a great video! Louis has grown so much, and the oddly gentle way he treats Juno proves it to me. He's really becoming his own person. Thanks for the in-depth analysis!

Great video as always man. The end of the video got men thinking about Melon. Like he may be a sadistic ,socialialpath ,masochist. But with everything that happened to his life at a young age his not really "bad" person. He's more just doing all these things a person would consider evil just so he can "Feel" something in his life since ordinary life in his mind has no feeling.
Maybe im just rambling here. But it was a great video will worth the wait.

I at first skipped it cause it was that unsettling but then watched it so I could get a good look at Melon character. Since reading it is one thing while hearing it being voiced/read to you is an entirely different feeling in of itself.

This manga is continually surprising me with every chapter. I don't know when we'll get to this final conflict that's building but I have a feeling some crazy SH****TT is gonna go down. I'm still scared for Louis & Legosi, I just both of them to come out of it okay..

I agree that the writing is trying to avoid tropes while at the same time using the illusion of them as cover. But the fact that for Louis' absolution for lack of a better term, Legosi, in short, got thrown under the bus for it does make Louis a bad person. Sure he never does bad things for bad reasons, which is the trope, but he still does bad things for good reasons and good things for bad reasons. And excusing his behavior as "just normal people doing normal things" is a bit well, messed up. Louis is a very unethical person but because he's written to be likable, you can't help but like him and in doing so, you're allowing yourself to be manipulated. Being Good or Bad is not some grandiose moment like in a video game where you make a choice and follow through. Real life is about a series of events and each choice either reinforces or changes the path that your life will follow. Louis continues to make a series of unethical choices because he feels bad about himself. So yes, he IS a bad person. Does that mean he always will be, the answer is, he will until he chooses not to be and follows through with it.
As far as Legosi's fate, sadly while it is not Just, it IS the Law. One of the things you learn in the first year of criminal justice, or law school is that Justice and Law are not the same things, in fact, the Law often causes a lot of Injustice to exist. Legosi broke the law regardless of the reason. Is it unjust, oh hell yes it is. And time will tell if Legosi gets justice and vindication for his life. Legosi and Louis for all their complexities and faults are people who just want to be loved, and because of how fucked up their childhoods have been, they don't know HOW to do that, how to give it and how to receive it. Which itself is a fault in society at large. It is why society is yet again, threatening to tear itself apart, we are potentially reaching the end of history again only for our global society to collapse and we start all over again. Beastars is a commentary on that, juxtaposing the complex and often contradictory nature of the world at large, with the simplicity of the world from school children. Legosi and Louis may or may not be able to save it, in fact, the odds are stacked heavily against them to do so. and there may, in fact, be nothing that can be done. It may just be akin to a flood. We don't blame the flood, it is a force of nature, it comes regardless of what strength we bring forth against it. the only thing you can do is to simply try and survive it.
And this is my message to you and your viewers. Don't try to take the weight of the world on your shoulders, you will only be crushed. But find something in your life that's true, whether it be a cause or a person or a time. Do those things and more because of the people you know, the things you CAN save and do what you can when the opportunities present itself. It's all about moving the stone a little bit at a time, sometimes with team work, but sometimes alone. As long as you consistently keep moving it, little by little, day by day, the wave of that builds upon itself until what you have done washes up on distant and foreign shores and you will affect lives you never knew and never know. It's kind of shitty that it happens that way, but it's in the shadows, the lever of the world is moved and wheel turns.

Man, I hope that Paru either makes more chapters past volume 20, or makes more content about the Beastars world, maybe a new series about Legosi and Haru’s potential child and the hardships they go through? I just want there to be more Beastars content.
A carnivore-herbivore hybrid child ain't exactly portrayed in a positive way anywhere in the manga, and it makes Haru and Legosi seem selfish and inconsiderate for wanting to create a Melon 2.0. Hardships they go through, eh? So they purposely create their own problems? Why do we need to care when this whole thing was completely avoidable in the first place?
@@0deadx21 I don't think Melon turned out the way he did from being a Hybrid. It was his abusive mother, absentee father and society's prejudices that did that. He never had a chance to reconcile his hybrid nature like Legosi did with his being a Carnivore.
Plus Legosi and Haru are reckless people. They definitely would want a child to cement their relationship. Haru uses her flowers as a child surrogate and Legosi feels a need to protect those smaller and weaker than himself.
A hybrid protagonist who lives in a post-Melon world could definitely work. The drama writes itself. Like Germans still living under the Nazi shadow.
Great video about Louis he really gets a lot of development in the series and I hated him at first but the tem killer arc really changed my opinion on Louis

Not when watching a video I barely notice the score in the background but when the score during the melon scene played I genuinely got goosebumps and I barely know the character since I've only watched the anime but damn..reminds me of Undertale's score during the true lab.

louis literally pulls a fucking gun out on someone on 3 different occasions (that i can remember), including literally pulling a gun out at his own school to threaten bill, and yet when he goes to save legoshi from his fight to the death, instead of yet again pulling a fucking gun out and just shooting riz, he makes legoshi eat his fuckin foot? wat? did he leave his brain behind at the shishigumi?
also, since when the fuck did it become possible for legoshi to turn into the fucking hulk or something by eating meat? and when he does, he says he wont let it be in vain, yet he doesn't even fucking kill riz, he failed at the one thing eating louis' leg was supposed to help him do, so it was in vain anyway, they acheived nothing, riz was just arrested, which could have happened if they literally just called the fucking police at the start, so now none of the justice for tem's murder that legoshi was after has happened, and louis is missing his foot.
You misunderstood that whole thing. Louis offered Legosi his leg because he was secretly hoping that he would give in to instinct and eat him whole. Also it wasn't in vain, Riz realised that his fantasy made up about eating Tem was completely wrong after seeing what Louis has done for Legosi and that's why he won't be a threat anymore after being released from Juvie. There's no way Legosi could've killed him even in his enraged state, plus that whole thing in his mind was about teaching him a lesson which he unconsciously ended up doing so that makes your comment completely invalid.

Hahahahaha yeah I was super hyped when they said the title like that. Mostly because if that is the route it goes on then it will continue and do what both grandpa dragon and horse man couldn't do. Making it all come full circle. I can't wait to find out what happens.
Legoshi is always imposing his values on others. He could just call the police or report his findings without playing the hero. He kind of deserves it.

I was _not_ expecting Louis and Juno tbh but I guess anything can happen
Personally, I’m not a fan of Louis. I appreciate his character development, but throughout a lot of it, he’s just incredibly unpleasant. It’s not that I can’t understand his struggle, it’s just that like so many of the other characters who started out traumatized, Louis let’s his trauma define him as a person, while Legoshi doesn’t.
The other characters make out him becoming the Beastar would be like Obama becoming President of the USA, but other herbivores have been the Beastar: i.e. Yafya, an herbivore who stokes the city, performing acts of vigilantism, focusing on crimes committed by carnivores, and directly punishing Legoshi upon meeting him just for being alive. And I am crazy annoyed by the fact that Louis gets off scot free for everything he has done as leader of the Shishigumi, while Legoshi is given a criminal record for the one real illegal thing he did in that Arc (F***********CKING RACISMMMMMMMM!)! I just hate that! Hate! Hate! Hate that!
I might just find Legoshi more relatable as a fellow introvert, with social skills in need of improvement, committing himself to finishing what he starts, and his all around Hufflepuff nature. Honestly, out of all the characters in Beastars, Legoshi seems to me to be the only one who is traumatized (by his mother’s death specifically) and came up from it trying to be bigger better person than he already was. I’ve met a few people with truly scarring experiences (not naming names), but all of them try their best to not let their trauma rule their lives, Louis did.
It’s not that I think Louis is a bad character, far from it, in fact I think he is the perfect Antihero of Beastars. I’m just saying he’s not my favourite character.
