Japanese homes are so small. This looks more like a regular neighbourhood here in Germany, and even those have some more space. But it looks very beautiful tho...
I am watching this video and I noticed one detail. Here in Denenchofu, Tokyo, in Beverly Hills and in the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, in Dedinje in Belgrade and in other most expensive neighborhoods, the streets are without sidewalks. Why is that ?
The value is the land the houses that it sits on. You could have such a house in the country as a middle-class person. I live in outside of Tokyo in a nice house but if I place my house in that area, my guess it would be 5 times more expensive.
I would prefer to live in Kagurazaka as it's real pleasant Tokyo. Denenchofu looks very average compared to any part of USA - Canada - Australia - Thanks for the video!
People who have the money to build a house in a nice and cue “strategic” neighborhood are usually elders. And elders like quiet places. The quality that makes this particular neighborhood expensive is that it's still so damn quiet but it's still near downtown Tokyo. Japanese people take their quiet time seriously.
What I learned about Japan after living in few different countries is that Japan does not have big income gap in different industries. Obviously income level changes based on your position, skillsets but compared to some other countries, it doesn't have huge income gap between industries. Maybe I'm wrong
This looks like an area that has been traditionally expensive, but I'm pretty sure that the richest people live in gated communties somewhere in the outskirts of Tokyo, or in penthouses in downtown.
Interesting video. Strange. Are garages outlawed in Japan? People in this neighborhood are parking their luxury cars on sidewalks in front of their homes just like the really bad neighborhoods in the US.
You're misunderstanding. One example: 9:00 The 2 white luxury cars (I saw 3 white cars in another vid) are parked in the "private" open carpark which belongs to the houseowner. It's not a public sidewalk but part of the land he purchased. Normal Japanese won't like to cause inconvenience to neighbors.
I visited Den-en-cho-fu for the first time last Christmas. As an Asian foreigner I wanted to compare how the rich Japanese live vs how other crazy rich Asians live. It was a nice cozy neighbourhood. I liked it a lot. :)
I lived within walking distance to here at Komazawa area.. a lot of foreigners live around denenchofu too. And by foreigner I mean wealthy expats who have all living expenses including $30,000/yr private international school for their kids and maids/helpers paid in full.
Super big house 1 Super big house 2 Rich woman pay driver lunch. Lexus RX Rich people wait for something in line. Lol adorable and straight to the point!!!
Noticed that there are no nice master planned gated communities in Japan. It is just different than the US. People, Japan is a small country, if you didn’t know that.
This Denenchofu City itself is a master planned semi-gated community. It was originally planned as a suburban residential area for the wealthy, just outside of Tokyo. Now, since all the houses and buildings are densely built around it, it does not mean much, but it's still not an area where anyone can live. The building regulations and the regulations of the residents' autonomous organizations are famous for being very strict.
We all know Japan is at the forefront on many levels - cleanness, technology, efficiency, social order and organization but it is heartbreaking that their modern architecture houses, even in the Tokyo most expensive area look disappointingly dull, box-like, devoid of architectural beauty and harmony and with most facades reminding you of some plasticky replicas you find in some Disney World parks or in Las Vegas.
As far as I know, non-conformity in Japan is highly discouraged. Kids have to follow a strict dress code, hair has to be styled just so. I read somewhere several years ago (and I might be wrong about this) that even the student's hair has to be straight and black (which would obviously pose a problem for the "Hafu" kids). So I guess this culture of conformity would naturally bleed out to Japanese modern architecture. Which might also be the reason why anime is so popular and anime characters are so colorful and flashy; a way for a lot of them to satisfy a person's need for something original and unique.
@@alcor7104 Al Cor, yes, yes there must be social reasons as well behind all that. But I wasn't talking "theory". Take a good look at the windows of those expensive houses, tiny, introvert, more dead than alive...and in the summer months when it's hot I guess people have to rely on electric air conditioners because probably those windiws can't even be opened or opened fully. Contemporary Japanese architects had better take a trip to the Netherlands and look at the sizes of windows especially in older buidlings and shove their "Muji" style somewhere else. Not to mention how contemporary Japanese architects have obviously dismissed and ignored the design and style of traditional Japanese architecture which was way more harmonious and attractive.
@@benedettobruno1669 Can't argue with some of that really, but a lot of Mujis (the newer ones anyway) have excellent ventilation and great big windows. Some might not even need AC in the summer. I'd like to see an updated version of a traditional Japanese house though, one with nice gardens. But then again, you'd have to be obscenely rich to build something like that in that neighborhood. Funny how I saw this really huge lot with a big long wall once. Thought the guy who lived there owned Toyota or something. Turned out it was a temple. But yes, I see your point. Honestly though, I really prefer the simpler, more humble 'duller' neighborhoods in Kamakura than the übercosmopolitan city that is Tokyo. There's a certain youthful atmosphere in the places around Enoshima. Tokyo feels like you really need to work your a$$ off when you're there, even if you're just visiting.
But those houses are much comfortable to live than the regular houses you’ve seen. I really love the Japanese bathrooms, so clean and fully automated, with touch panel where you can choose the temperature of your bath water.

It looks very much like you could find it anywhere, that’s why I don’t like it so much
as you can see .. most people you see is elderly people .. thats japan problem .. aging population
@@urmotherfather2584 People are leaving, the elders are staying
yeah but this place looks very peaceful and quiet. Chill af for someone like me.
People who have the money to build a house in a nice and cue “strategic” neighborhood are usually elders. And elders like quiet places. The quality that makes this particular neighborhood expensive is that it's still so damn quiet but it's still near downtown Tokyo. Japanese people take their quiet time seriously.
거리가 너무 예뻐!!
귀하의 의견에 감사드립니다🤍
What I learned about Japan after living in few different countries is that Japan does not have big income gap in different industries. Obviously income level changes based on your position, skillsets but compared to some other countries, it doesn't have huge income gap between industries. Maybe I'm wrong
Thank you Sushi-san for sharing your learning!✨
So beautiful 🥰
thanks hatori san!
KOYODAI Inagi ... WAKABADAI along TAMA Center are more beautiful place when it comes to nature and houses
This looks like an area that has been traditionally expensive, but I'm pretty sure that the richest people live in gated communties somewhere in the outskirts of Tokyo, or in penthouses in downtown.
Thank you so much for your comment!😋
Interesting video. Strange. Are garages outlawed in Japan? People in this neighborhood are parking their luxury cars on sidewalks in front of their homes just like the really bad neighborhoods in the US.
Thank you Sarabeth-san for your comment. They have to park in their garage🤗
You're misunderstanding.
One example: 9:00
The 2 white luxury cars (I saw 3 white cars in another vid) are parked in the "private" open carpark which belongs to the houseowner.
I'm surprised to know that you have visited Den-en-cho-fu, because it is not the place for sightseeing!🙄 Thank you for your comment!
@@ciderstokyoview365 yes, im not a tourist. Tourists are not allowed in Japan for about a year already. I live in Tokyo :)
Nice area seems like the US in a Alternate universe 😅💖
Thank you James Provost-san for your comment😊
@@ciderstokyoview365 thank you for the amazing content ✨👏👌🏾
Doesn't need to be an alternate universe. San Francisco is like this since they have no yards.
@@Mark-OutWest lmao 😂
@@Mark-OutWest that city is a shithole
I lived within walking distance to here at Komazawa area.. a lot of foreigners live around denenchofu too. And by foreigner I mean wealthy expats who have all living expenses including $30,000/yr private international school for their kids and maids/helpers paid in full.
Really? Hello Samtron5000-san😋❣
Wow a Samtron comment, I loved Games You Don't Play.

Noticed that there are no nice master planned gated communities in Japan. It is just different than the US. People, Japan is a small country, if you didn’t know that.
Thank you for letting me know about USA!😚
This Denenchofu City itself is a master planned semi-gated community.
It was originally planned as a suburban residential area for the wealthy, just outside of Tokyo. Now, since all the houses and buildings are densely built around it, it does not mean much, but it's still not an area where anyone can live.
The building regulations and the regulations of the residents' autonomous organizations are famous for being very strict.
I think in other countries, the differences between upper class hood, middle upper, middle and working class are stronger at first sight.
Thank you so much for your comment😊💙
Where is this area located?
Thank you so much for your comment😊✨
The name of the place is right above the title
We all know Japan is at the forefront on many levels - cleanness, technology, efficiency, social order and organization but it is heartbreaking that their modern architecture houses, even in the Tokyo most expensive area look disappointingly dull, box-like, devoid of architectural beauty and harmony and with most facades reminding you of some plasticky replicas you find in some Disney World parks or in Las Vegas.
Benedetto Bruno-san you are right, I want to live in big house😳
As far as I know, non-conformity in Japan is highly discouraged. Kids have to follow a strict dress code, hair has to be styled just so. I read somewhere several years ago (and I might be wrong about this) that even the student's hair has to be straight and black (which would obviously pose a problem for the "Hafu" kids).
So I guess this culture of conformity would naturally bleed out to Japanese modern architecture. Which might also be the reason why anime is so popular and anime characters are so colorful and flashy; a way for a lot of them to satisfy a person's need for something original and unique.

Al Cor, yes, yes there must be social reasons as well behind all that.
@@alcor7104 Glad you mentioned the importance of gardens.
25:05 Kentucky Fried Chicken for rich people? 😂 whats that mean? is that a sarcasm? 😁
ive seen regular house bigger than those house.
But those houses are much comfortable to live than the regular houses you’ve seen. I really love the Japanese bathrooms, so clean and fully automated, with touch panel where you can choose the temperature of your bath water.
