Thank you so much for being silent. This is amazing audio, and I'm sure the video is just as incredible. (I've been fascinated by storms all my life even though I'm totally blind. It's probably a good thing I couldn't see both tornadoes my family and I survived. Not having physical vision sometimes can be a mixed blessing.
This video is simply impressive. You got EVERY possible angle and aspect of this derecho covered. You got camera footage before the storm’s approach, footage showing the shelf cloud and green sky approaching, driving into the derecho, video of what it looked like from a fixed standpoint during the storm, and said footage even included the activation of the tornado sirens. I was able to catch some video and pictures of the shelf cloud and green sky near Atkinson, Illinois, and driving into it on I-80. I don’t know if it was the 1080p video quality, but my footage does not show the intensity of the precipitation and winds like yours does.
That lovely siren ambience with the rain. What great shots and edits! Thank you for sharing, there really is something about the experience of these things. Very glad it didn’t begin CI further west of Des Moines.
@@Religious_man CI being "convective initiation", meaning I'm glad the storms didn't fire up further west or it would've likely been even stronger by the time it got here. Check out the radar loop and what happened from the Quad Cities to Chicago!
So soon after August 10, 2020?! NOT AGAIN!! I'd thought that most of the big handsome "legacy" trees were mostly taken out, 4 years ago, but there somehow remains a respectable number of these lovely trees, even in spite of this latest "blow".
@@swithinbarclay4797 thank goodness for that though! That and this particular storm wasn’t as bad in the way of tree damage. It was mostly just downed tree limbs with sporadic structure damage
Yeah nah... dude you need to "SLOW YOUR ROLL" on the express way in that kind of weather.. better to get their a few minutes late than... "DEAD ON ARRIVAL"!!.❤️🙏🇺🇲
Not a thing about tornadoes in your list because they were "radar detected." So what? Anyone can program a robot to say anything. WHERE WERE THE EDUCATED, PROFESSIONAL, CERTIFIED, OLD SCHOOL STORM SPOTTERS? Anyway, good video. Tree damage is nasty.

Oh yeah, sure, great editing skills, eh? What did he refuse to show?

Quality Work!! Keep it up......
Those tornado warning sirens remind me of the Cold War
Why do they make Tornado Sirens sound so creepy? They always scary me even when they test them every month in the summer.
I guess that is to make storms way scarier😮
very nice thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Im in Northern Indiana, we got hit pretty good, we just got power back this morning
It sound just like Tulsa Oklahoma tornado siren! Wow
We got lucky down here in Ottumwa. I ended up sounding one of my miniature sirens for this storm.
Nice video.👍 😊
You know shelf clouds and derechos are so similar maybe sometimes even the same😮 5:28
Thank you everyone!!

very weak for my area. i was in the moderate risk and most i got was 40 mph gust. real strong derecho there
It looks like every thunderstorm is going to be called a derecho from now on !!
Nice
Thank you!!
it lasted longer then the last one we had
Cedar rapids had flashbacks from august 2020
@@user-gerardo7 yeah, can certainly see why though! Especially with some of the damage that was reported out towards Illinois!
Not exactly Aug.10,2020 but still....
Yeah, was certainly still intense enough!
I'm not sure if the 2020 storm was worse or the December 2021 storm was worse.
