I notice one other change with the various modes. ECON seems to try to keep the battery charged to around 30%, NORMAL keeps it around 50%, and SPORT around 70%. So ECON mode keeps plenty of room for downhill regenerative braking, but sacrifices the amount of time you can run the car off both gas and electric at the same time. SPORT reverses that.
I generally drive in ECON mode, however, I switch to SPORT mode when I go up steep hills. It gives the car a real kick. However, I have noticed that it does a number on gas mileage. Regardless, it's a great option.
Good review on a great car. I recently bought a 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring (in Modern Steel), and LOVE it. The engine is smooth, it is plenty powerful when needed (I unintentionally spun the tires pulling out into traffic), the eCVT is smooth and always ready, and this car is quiet. However, I will say that the 47/47/47 mpg rating is not accurate. I got 55.7 mpg city mpg today and average in the HIGH 40s and low 50s when combined. It has so much technology. Everyday I'm learning new things it can do. This is a FANTASTIC car. Great looks (MANY compliments on the color and the car's looks from friends and strangers), superb quality and a quiet and luxurious ride. And it's a FUN car to drive. I may have to add stabilizer to the gas tank since I go so long before filling up.
@@elmerarana6757 You basically got to drive like a grandma to get those ratings. There is a drive coach setting in the dash board that lets you know if you're accelerating and/or braking too hard. I do a lot of highway driving and try to keep it under the speed limit and I get around 52 mpg.
When you put the car in sport mode and use paddle shifters - any way to disable that and still STAY in Sport Mode without having to reactivate it every time?
I was hoping this video would explain how the paddle shifters performance changes; specifically for hybrid models. The paddle shifters do something different in sport mode than in econ or standard driving mode.
That's why sometimes you see road signs saying "don't use engine brakes" because it doesn't light up for drivers behind you to realize you're stopping.
I have a 2019 Accord LX. I have a S selector on the shift selector. If this is Sport mode is there a maximum speed that I can or should drive? Can I use it every day? Thanks
Just wondering if in sport mode, the engine sound should rev more through ASC.. active sound control through the speakers? I wasn't happy with the stock speakers and subwoofer so I changed them. I'm afraid that the guy who changed them affected something or cut a wire. What's your thought on that?
@b3ar0fab i just bought that exact year and model in manual too (love it!!) all i see is an eco button by the stick shift that i can turn on and off, and the lighting is always green around the tach and sped opposed to red like i see in most videos. did you ever figure it out?
@@abstractempire6565 from my understanding without econ mode ur in sport mode lol. U can feel a difference if ur entering the highway with econ on, turn it off while on the throttle. Nice little kick of turbo boost. My logic is we have totally control of shifts so it's no need for the sport button which would only rev higher in between shifts in the automatic. And also changes throttle response. The green lighting also changes to white depending on ur throttle application.
b3ar0fab yea i love the car i havent even used eco mode. i was just curious. it pulls amazingly imo and i havent even come close to redlining or anything, nor do i ever plan to. only 100 miles on it so far. thanks for the insight.
@@abstractempire6565 it pulls like a beast dont it lol. Hard to believe it's only a 4 banger. Another thing we r missing is a turbo boost gauge🤦🏾♂️. Why they didn't include that on the manual beats the hell outta me.
Good Info. I am surprised it does make a tach in the LCD. Anyway, I have a question regarding fuel range. On a full tank, what does the computer read regarding total range.
Thanks that didnt help for shit how do u switch gears my honda has the paddle shifters buts its weird kuz wen u put it in sport it drives withoit the gears but wen u hit the paddle shifts it goes into manuel

It's a great way to turn my Accord Touring Hybrid into a fun car to drive, when I want it that way.
Sport mode makes daily drives fun, especially when you have the 2.0T engine.
Agree 100%

Econ mode?!

Mecury Marauder I live in Los Angeles and get about 38-40 mpgs. Never have I reached 47 :(

Just bought the 2018 Accord Hybrid. Love it! Thanks for the explanation on Sport mode.
Glad you love your new car! More videos to come!
So when the car starts up, what mode is the car in? Econ, sport or ev mode?

Can you drive sport mode without using petal shifter
That's what I want to know
Yes you can
I'm planning to buy a hybrid one. How many seconds to 0-60 in sport mode?
6.9 seconds
I got 6.3 with traction off (2018 Accord Hyrbid EXL without throttle)
Unrelated question: When slowing down using the 'minus' paddle shifter instead of the brake pedal, do the brake lights come on?
No. It's using the transmission to slow down, not the brakes

@@memmis2006 Actually thats usually in residential areas for truckers not to do because its loud as hell (from what I understand)
What does it do on the 1.5
Enables placebo mode
Got the CSLs 😍

use it when you need to change lane fast from stall. sport mode will heat up your gear selector faster than normal, just remember that.
Thank you
Very elaborate yet simple to understand.
Omg my car 1.5 but still amazingly Exciting

It’s definitely possible once you go aftermarket as the active sound control and anything of the sort is all linked to the computers of the car.
Thank you very much. I have the car booked in on saturday for inspection.
There are no gears to shift in an accord hybrid
Great explanation!
Thanks!!
I have a 2019 2.0t sport 6spd, why I dont have the sport button? Do I have to do a button sequence to activate it?

Thanks for the tip!
Paige Lombardi anytime😆
Buttons really fucking button's
Hi it’s me again
Thx for the !nformation
Could have explained that in half the time.

It all depends on the MPG that you are getting. Thanks for watching!
Off my head 560 in normal driving mode. So far getting 52.7 mpg average. Will see if it goes up, or down, in future
