Great video Aaron. I have built my kit over the past few years with the 10-18mm, 18-55mm, 55-250mm, 24mm, 50mm and 35mm macro. these lenses have provided me with the capability to handle anything. I am not a professional but love all types of scenes and views and can do anything with this kit. thanks for your vlogs.
just got my t7i, now subscribed and notified, btw, no dslr camera experience , but was great with the stick on top 4 flash bulb cameras i took photos with in the late 70's.
Nice list! I've actually gone through a few of these as well. My 85mm is arriving today, so great timing. Sadly, it is to avoid lugging around a massive Sigma 50-100 which I just can't bring myself to sell. I also just bought Tokina 11-16 and sold off 10-18 with extra metal EF mount. Tokina is definitely not a vlogging lens with being so loud. But I anticipate moving from the 77d to the next M series mirrorless. This will allow me to get the Sigma trio 16,30, and 56. If I want to vlog, I can use the 16mm there. It's good to see what you've got as I am debating my dream kit as we speak. Having a hard time choosing between primes vs zooms with as little overlap as possible. Thanks for sharing!
Would love your take on the Tokina 11-16 (or 11-20) f2.8 vs the Canon 10-18 4.5. I have the Canon, but not sure if it's worth buying the Tokina for the bokeh.
One-of-a-Hell Lens Comparison Review! A great one though!!! Just one thing: In my actual situation I can only afford to use an APS-C camera. Would you consider having a Canon 40 mm f/2.8 STM instead of a 24 mm lens??? Thank you!
Good review on these lenses for beginners and other levels. I'd like know your your opinion of the tamarin 70-300mm for canon, the canon 35mm, and meike lenses for canon. Thanks. My focus is birds and landscapes, not video on the t7i.
I haven't used any of those, so I don't want to give you the wrong information. I used the Canon 55-250mm with the t7i and got very average results, soft image for the majority of shots.
I use 2 box studio lights with diffusers. I got a set of 3 on Amazon for about $100. Nothing special, the key is the diffusers that came with the set, and I only run the lights at half power.
I really appreciate the time and efforts put into this video. I am starting to enter the filming world and I was confined that I need to get the Canon 24mm f/2.8 for a wide look and the 85mm f/1.8 for portrait shooting, and now I am doubting myself for getting the 85mm as you said "very noisy for video". can you please elaborate on that, are you referring to the image noise or that sound coming out of the camera when focusing, as I mainly going to use it for shooting videos? also, do you recommend other lens/es that is similar in specs but better in results? PS: I will be using Canon 90D
The 85mm noise is literal, it is very loud while auto focusing. I released a review on it a few weeks ago where I show exactly what I'm talking about. If you check my videos it's about 10 videos down or so. Very, very noisy.
@@FitsandFun thank you for your reply. will definitely check it out. a quick thing though, I see you are using Canon 90D quite often do you still recommend it for filmmaking or you would suggest something else?
@@FitsandFun Had been thinking of upgrading to 90D after seeing reviews and after seeing you say this Aaron think I will, but if you had to pick either the sigma 35 or the 18-35 which would be 1st choice even though would plan to have both eventually
I'd start with the Sigma 35mm f1.4. It might not have to be calibrated, and I use it for almost every TH-cam video. The 18-35mm has more uses obviously because of the range, but for me personally, I use the 35mm f1.4 a lot more.
I haven't used either of those, so I wouldn't want to give you any wrong information. Although the 105mm Sigma macro lens is one I've been thinking about getting.
For portraits I'd recommend the 35mm f1.4, for video and walk about photography the 18-35mm f1.8. However the 18-35mm is a bit older and needs to be calibrated. So you'll need the sigma dock, and spend time calibrating it. I released a video with my calibrated settings, took me around 30 hours or so messing with it to calibrate.

Steve. I was in your shoes a year ago. Aaron’s channel was sooo valuable to get me going. Enjoy!
I recently discovered your channel I when decided to get into photography and videography and it's been a huge help thanks
You stole my dream kit! :O I'd throw in the nifty fifty on top of it though. ;)
Loved the video. :D

I think the Sigma 18-35mm not that good for vlogging, the quality and low light are great but it's just so heavy. For videos people love it

I have the 40mm f2.8. It's not wide enough on an aps-c sensor for me.

Good Day Aaron!! What sort of lighting do you use when you shoot your videos for youtube?
I use 2 box studio lights with diffusers. I got a set of 3 on Amazon for about $100. Nothing special, the key is the diffusers that came with the set, and I only run the lights at half power.
@@FitsandFun thank you for that information, Aaron. I would put that affiliate link down on the description.

I love the 90D for all my filming. Best video camera I've ever used. Image quality and sound quality.

Is the Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM lens better than Sigma 18-35 F1.8 DC HSM Art lens on an aps-c body? What would you recommend between the two?
