    Hi Craig,,very good presentation,but just one thought.
    When ever l change oil filters that are vertical like the swift's,l always add atleast a reasonable amount of oil in the filter,. This allows the motor to start up with new oil flowing through the engines main bearings,and prolong the life of the motor, diesels are particularly sensitive to dry start ups.

  • @NathanCelica
    @NathanCelica 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    First of, thanks for the clear video. at what interval do you change the oil? we now have 5w30 wich we change every 8000km's, but i'm planning on using 10w40 because it's almost 20$ cheaper.

    • @CraigsDIY
      @CraigsDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the Suzuki spec is 15000 km. The viscosity should be spec'ed by the environment & common temperatures, look up the Suzuki table, I wouldn't let $20 every 15000 km influence that decision. Consider full synth.

      It depends on the climate where you live which oil to use. Look in your handbook under engine oil and filter. 5W-30 is for climate between -30 and +10 degrees C, 10W-30 for -20 to +30, and 10W-40 for -20 to +45. Choose the one which best fits your local climate. One of them should be labelled preferred for the climate where the car was first sold.

    • @Tonyx.yt.
      @Tonyx.yt. 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Replevideo climate doesnt matter... If engine said 5w-30 is better use that oil both in cold and hot climate, engine produce much more heat than any climate and also if the oil is too tick for engine tollerances, doesnt lubrificate if properly... My 2016 swift require 0w-20 or only for 1 time 5w-30 if tinner oil is not available, and were i live, in summer temperature is easly over 30.
      If i put a way to tick oil, maybe 10w-40 like cheap oil commonly sold in shops, i certanly wear the engine since oil still to tick.

    • @thecomptech2113
      @thecomptech2113 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tonyx.yt. it depends on the climate. I have a japan import ZC71S with the k12b engine. I talked to various mechanics in my country and they all told me to stick with 10w40 because of the climate. I even spoke to the local suzuki dealer and he also told me to use 10w40

    Drill a small hole in bottom of old filter or smack a small screwdriver through it(before un screwing). This will help drain the oil out of filter and make the changing a lot cleaner process....

    Could we put the jack stands just beside or a bit in front of the recommanded placement point (which looks like a square shape) for lifting jack. This is quite at the door frame.
