    Hi Sarah as someone with both rosacea and eczema, I'm naturally deficient in ceramides as part of the disease process. I use moisturisers with and without ceramides and tbh texture/occlusivity is more important for me. My moisturiser needs to moisturise and prevent my other products evaporating - that's it. I do use an oil, as my skin no longer produces sebum (eczema and menopause) under a moisturiser for the emollient benefits. I like moisturisers with urea and shea butter - works great on my skin. Cereve burns/stings and is arguably the most famous ceramide formulation. The regimen labs and stratia are not easy to get here tbh. At the moment I'm trialling the new Altruist face cream for daytime under an spf and I already use their 10% urea body cream as a night cream for face/neck/chest. Really affordable, seals in my other skincare and makes my skin feel comfortable. I don't buy expensive moisturisers (or cleansers) and instead spend on serums/actives and spf. I can't really say i've noted that many extra benefits from products containing ceramides. They're a nice addition, but not something I really seek out tbh. Many ceramide containing moisturisers don't work on my super dry skin - just a thought. Best wishes.

    the Rovectin Barrier Repair Face/Body Cream is an amazing barrier repair moisturizer, i have oily skin but still find its a perfect nighttime moisturizer thats not too heavy but has enough occlusivity, and it isnt greasy or really heavy at all but i still think people with dry or combo skin could also use it too, i find the texture and consistency is so agreeable for so many skin types

    I love the RNW serum because it is very soothing to my skin. One of my favorite ceramide products is DeliKate Recovery Serum from Kate Somerville. It contains three ceramides with cholesterol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-8, and another interesting ingredient-ectoin-that is supposed to help UVA-damaged skin. I can’t tell if the serum is doing that but my face does seem brighter and healthier. It’s pricey but I got it on super-sale at Ulta a while back. Happy Tuesday 😊

    Great video. Look for the ingredient Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate. If this is present its probably the premixed ceramide product that may not be in the correct ratio and in a very low quantity. Man made ceramides may be good which appear in illiyoon, zeroid and Curel. Regemin Labs ceramide cream is great.

    Love your new video and I have to say it's all brand new information to me. I tried a bunch of ceramides products from various brands. I love PC’s omega moisturizer. It's soothing and relieving. However, it's not moisturizing enough and I have to use another moisturizer on top of it. I think it's best to be used in summer. Another one is PC ceramide enriched firming moisturizer which I also adore because it brightens my skin and smoothes fine lines but again it doesn't provide enough moisture. It's more of a serum than a moisturizer so bare in mind if you have dry skin you will need another moisturizer for that extra moisture and to seal everything in. I also tried Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules but I didn't like the oily film that was left on my skin after using it. I have to say it felt luxurious and somehow I liked the silky texture of the serum. I wish it dried instead of just sitting at the top of my skin and then transferring (staining) to my pillow. The last one is also from PC and it's their calm serum which I’m addicted to. It gives an instant soothing relief sensation and it helps the skin to heal rapidly. Finally, I’m going to try the regimen lab one because it sounds interesting and promising.

      The cream from regimen is quite impressive. It's the first real Ceramide product that has made a huge difference in my neck, which is typically very sensitive and reactive. Thank you for doing the research, very interesting! I’ve got a nerd question: so I’ve heard that using olive oil in skin care increases TEWL, do you happen to know if that means we should avoid olive oil derivatives like Cetearyl Olivate, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate? those are in the peace out product.

    • @NOBSBeauty
      @NOBSBeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm going to have to do some more reading on that, but at least with cetearyl olivate and Sorbitan Olivate from what I've read it does not increase TEWL, but that might not be the case with the other ethylhexyl olivate- I've seen some conflicting information on that one, I'll have to keep reading before I fully make up my mind on that one, might be a good topic for another video on TEWL.

    • @nonone347
      @nonone347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NOBSBeauty I looked into it a little more and what I think I'm getting (as a totally unqualified researcher) is that olive oil has a high oleic acid to linoleic/linolenic acid ratio, hence applying pure 100% olive oil to skin weakens the skin barrier. However, a good cosmetic chemist can use components of olive oil as supporting ingredients in formulas without issue. Like, don't take my word for it, I was an art major, lol, but I don't think I'll bother avoiding the olivate ingredients afterall.

    • @NOBSBeauty
      @NOBSBeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a shame that these brands still sell products based on containing ceramides, especially since they are so expensive most brands just don't want to pay that much for raw ingredients, but instead they just keep advertising it and most people aren't aware that it's all really just marketing. I have very oily, acne-prone skin, and I'm really enjoying the Stratia Liquid Gold. It's a light lotion texture that doesn't leave a super greasy, dewy, or wet finish. I've heard that it was formulated to be oily-skin friendly. However, it's a little too rich for me to use during the day, so I'm really interested in trying the RNW serum.

    Would you please address the issue of fragrance allergies? I am one of the 11% of the population that has true fragrance allergies, and I think most people confuse them with contact sensitivity, which is an entirely different condition. Breathing in the fragrance molecules causes a variety of reactive inflammatory reactions.

    • @NOBSBeauty

      I'm so sorry you have to deal with that- I'm sure you have to be very careful with what you use- because like you said, it is a much different and more severe issue than "sensitive skin" will have to do a more in depth video on this in the future.

    Does Cerave Moisturizing Cream count as one with the correct ratio? What about Illiyoon Ato-Ceramide cream?

    • @NOBSBeauty
      @NOBSBeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The CeraVe does not (not do any of their products, sadly). I'm not sure about the Illiyoon either-it is hard to tell the exact amounts of the ceramides in it, although it seems to work well for a lot of people, so that is always a good sign. I really enjoyed it- especially for skin that tends to be on the oilier side- a lot of people with oily and acne prone skin find it works quite nicely for them.

    yea I find as well that sub-optimally formulated ceramide products do less than even just something like centella + niacinamide plus a silicone or another occlusive. and there's no way to evaluate it unless they explicitly state what's in there in what ratios. it's been a while since I read this post so I guess it's time to re-read.
    I've used to use the AMPLEN Ceramide Shot Ampoule and the illiyoon ato concentrate cream with good results and I still do like them both but I doubt the ceramides are what makes me lile them aha.

    Ceramide is one of my skin favourite ingredients, I hated the oily feeling of Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules...having bought 180 capsules whilst I was in America....way cheaper than in Singapore, I needed to finish the last 30 capsules before the end of its shelf life recently. To combat the oily texture, I had a sheet mask on top of it lol...I know it is a waste of product, but 1 mth later, I noticed my deep wrinkle reduced to a fine line. Right now I am trying out Real Barrier Extreme cream, wish it isn't scented. Also on my list of purchases is Dr Jart+ ceramidin cream. Tony Moly ceramide toner has 5000 parts per billion...I wonder how effective that is going to be but used it as my first step after cleansing if I had to do a wash-off mask, massage etc. Also had in my unopen stash Ample:N ceramide ampoule. ^_^.
